The best art IS interactive.

She’s been trying to drop casual hints that maybe I should show my statue to friends, suggesting without actually suggesting it, and maybe I will… but first I want to break that composure… I know she orgasms, but I want her to make her do it loudly enough to break character at least once.  Or failing that, I’ll unveil my new pregnant slave girl statue.

In Tibetan Buddhism, the Citipati, or “Lords of the Cemetery” are two mythological Buddhist ascetics, who were so deep in their  meditation, they were caught unawares by a thief and beheaded even before they knew they were dead.   As a symbol, the Chittipati represent the eternal dance of death, and perfect awareness.

by Cynthia Freeland

There isn’t much to review here. Freeland’s philosophy book is simple and sweet - a great introduction to the state of modern aesthetics and where to go for more detail. Her examples are spot on, she does a great job exposing the reader to a variety of artworks, and achieves the overall purpose of the book quite well.

In short: I read it for a class, but would’ve enjoyed it otherwise.
