With the death of Richard H. Kirk last year, my hopes are dashed for new material from Cabaret Voltaire. However, Stephen Mallinder is carrying the torch of mid-period Cabs by combining a dark soundscape with rough electro-funk. From his Bandcamp website:

Hoje encontrei, na corrida, um dos conhecidos que há alguns anos deu uns beijos quentes na minha ex-namorada em que quase ninguém nos conhecida. Infelizmente não chegou a transar com ela, mas passou-lhe as mãos por todo o corpo enquanto a beijava. Lembro que se fosse ontem suas mãos subindo pelas coxas da minha então namorada que levantavam no mesmo movimento o seu vestido; lembro do corpo dela prensado entre ele e a parede daquele canto escuro do Cabaret Voltaire, suas mãos apalpando a bunda da minha amada, sua saliva lambuzando-lhe o pescoço, o colo e lamento não ter chegado aos seios.
“Que saudades da bunda da sua namorada, cara!” disse ele. Sim, também tenho saudades daquela bunda [embora de outras coisas nem tanto], de ver a mulher que amo agarrando-se com outro homem na minha frente, saudade de tanta coisa… “Tá namorando?” perguntou. Respondi que não com a cabeça, mas sorri tranquilizando-o: “Mas quando estiver, você vai ser um dos primeiros a saber”. Abraçamo-nos antes do nos despedirmos na esquina movimentada do Moinhos de Vento: ele retomou a sua corrida de fim de tarde em direção ao Parcão e eu o caminho de casa após o trabalho, antecipando como em uma profecia os anos de minha vida em que homens como ele irão suar e peder calorias entre as pernas nuas da minha futura esposa.
Poucas coisas irmanam tanto dos homens do que ter conhecido o corpo nu da mesma mulher.
