Ok one last angsty thought re ep210, sorry

So apparently when Carlos travels to Night Vale it causes a huge time shift, so he arrives ten years early. When the university comes looking for him they say it’s been decades, plural. If they’re being literal of course. So ten years into the past plus several decades into the future (at least one decade in the Desert, of that bit confirmed the novel, not sure)

Let’s say Carlos is aware of the time shift. Because he always seems to know these things, he just doesn’t tell anyone.

Does it mean he never speaks of or tries to visit his family outside Night Vale because he thinks they’re all long gone or wouldn’t want to see him after he abandoned them for decades?

Does he cry on the anniversary of his arrival because he got reminded that all of his previous life moved on without him?

Does he cry because he knows that today is the exact day he actually travelled and got caught in the time shift?
