Joseph Aaron Segal’s , the Pretty Snake designer, oversized rainbow cat sweater is an interest

Joseph Aaron Segal’s , the Pretty Snake designer, oversized rainbow cat sweater is an interesting example of the use of rhythm in fashion. The sweater uses two forms of rhythm to move the eye throughout the main design. The first form of rhythm is the alternating bands of color found throughout the sweater which move the eye both vertically ,as it tries to figure out the rhythm, and horizontally across the bands. The second form of rhythm shown is progressive. The black pattern of the cat is repeated and shrunken as it moves up the sweater. The image of the cat uses negative space to allow the bands of color from the sweater to show through. This along with the sequential rhythm of the shrinking design moves the eye up and throughout the design.
