Forage grass is the basis for raising cattle. It not only contains various nutrients necessary for cattle, but also contains crude fiber that is particularly important for maintaining cattle health. This is irreplaceable by grain and other feeds. High-quality forages can completely satisfy cattle’s nutrition. If it is not in the production or fattening period, there is generally no need to supplement the concentrate.

Matching method of forage

Cattle prefer to eat gramineous forages and tall plants, followed by leguminous forages. Forage varieties suitable for feeding cattle include hybrid pennisetum, sudangrass, alfalfa, pine herb, Dongmu-70 rye, chicory and rutabaga. Dairy cows generally require 50 kg of green fodder per head per day, and mixed herds including young cattle and calves require an average of 30 kg of green fodder per day. To ensure an uninterrupted supply of green fodder throughout the year, annual forages and perennial forages, tropical forages and temperate forages should be planted together, and single species and intercropping should be combined as much as possible per unit area.

Every industry has some taboos, and the same goes for raising cattle. Many people have suffered from these taboos. Because of the high cost of raising cattle, there are a lot of losses each time. So what are the taboos in the cattle industry? Let’s take a look at these taboos together.

1. Buying cheap cattle

When many people buy cows, they will find that there are always some cows whose prices are very low, and when they buy them, they think that they are very happy that they have not missed them. In fact, try not to be greedy for this kind of cheapness. Such cows generally have some problems. People who know  it will not say anything and will not buy them. This kind of cattle is either of a poor breed or difficult to raise. If you raise it, you can’t make much money, or there may be a lot of diseases. It is a big expense to buy it back for treatment, and there are even more serious  problems.

2. Use moldy folder to save money

Some farmers still have a very old concept. They are always reluctant to deal with moldy feed, thinking about saving some money, and then feeding the cows, thinking that it is not a big problem for the cows to eat. In fact, moldy feed can easily cause problems in cattle. Once the cattle have problems with eating, the cost of this disease treatment is not tantamount to the money that you buy some fresh fodder. This risk is completely disproportionate to the money saved, but some farmers still have this fluke mentality. It is best to deal with this kind of feed directly, and don’t let the cattle take the risk.

3. Use illegal additives

Some illegal additives have obvious effects on the fattening of cattle, and when the growth of cattle is not ideal, there will always be people who use these illegal additives to enhance the fattening effect. Today’s detection technology and processing are extremely strict, and the relevant institutions of such farmers have never been merciless, and those who do these things with a fluke mentality are all planted, and in serious cases they will violate the law. In order to increase the lean meat rate of cattle in the short term, it is totally impossible to take such a big risk.

4. Random introduction and breeding

Many free-range farmers are not very familiar with the spread of cattle disease, so some people often use their cattle to bred or find someone to bred their cattle. In fact, this behavior is a taboo thing for cattle raising. Cows are easy to carry germs, and you can’t know if someone else’s cattle is sick. If you accidentally bring the disease in, it is easy to lose a lot. Why are some larger farms self-reproducing? People are afraid of this kind of risk. When raising cattle, it’s best not to let your own cattle come into contact with other people’s cattle, and safety is the first priority.
