While I’m sure everybody knows it’s Star Wars Day, Did you all know it’s also Alice in Wonderland Day?

Yes! Here’s the two quotes that tell us exactly when Alice had her dream.

Exhibit one, from chapter 6, Pig and Pepper.

“Alice waited a little, half expecting to see it again, but it did not appear, and after a minute or two she walked on in the direction in which the March Hare was said to live. `I’ve seen hatters before,’ she said to herself; `the March Hare will be much the most interesting, and perhaps as this is May it won’t be raving mad–at least not so mad as it was in March.’ As she said this, she looked up, and there was the Cat again, sitting on a branch of a tree.”

And Exhibit two, from the next chapter, The Mad Tea Party.

“The Hatter was the first to break the silence. `What day of the month is it?’ he said, turning to Alice: he had taken his watch out of his pocket, and was looking at it uneasily, shaking it every now and then, and holding it to his ear.

Alice considered a little, and then said `The fourth.’

`Two days wrong!’ sighed the Hatter. `I told you butter wouldn’t suit the works!’ he added looking angrily at the March Hare.

So, to celebrate, here are some designs I’ve been playing with for a slightly more modern version.

Earlier this year I was hired by Simon & Schuster to illustrate two children’s books to tie into the DreamWorks animated movie “Abominable.” If you haven’t seen the trailers it’s a cute story about a group of kids who find a baby Yeti and help get him back to his home on Mt. Everest.

In anticipation of the movie coming out this Friday, I wanted to share some of the illustrations from the books, which are now available on Amazon.

“Standby Me” - Here’s the complete lineup of all the Disney girls from my Disneybound inspired series. I like looking at them like this because it’s like having a visual snippet of Disney animation history :)

Final Disneyland Protip: If you’ve got exposed skin, be wary of any friends who’ve just bought any ice cold drinks or treats lest you get a chilly surprise. Here’s the last installment in my “Standby Me” series featuring Anna, Elsa and Moana (I had to squeeze her in).

It’s been a fun ride (pun intended) as this all started with just a fun sketch of a modern day Snow White before I even knew that Disneybounding was a thing. And now it’s evolved into all of the Disney girls having fun while they wait in line. I’m excited to post them together soon and reveal a new format I experimented with :)

Disneyland Snack Hack brought to you by Lilo and Tiana. If you and a friend each get a different treat, you can have both flavors for the price of one :)

I’ve finally decided to finish my Disneybounding “Standby Me” series that I started years ago. Can’t wait to share my ideas for the remaining girls!

Happy International Women’s Day! In honor I wanted to share a recent commission I did for a fan whose daughter loves science, and as a former scientist myself, I couldn’t help but relish the experience of capturing a young girl’s excitement for knowledge. The mom also sent me a pic of her daughter dressed up as I drew her in the artwork :)

I miss you tumblr! Here’s a crop of finished linework for a painting I plan to start in the next couple of months. My goal this year has been to beef up my portfolio a bit with larger pieces and images that have backgrounds.

A reminder to stay home. We can help out health care workers like my Dad by staying in and finding fun things to do at home! Whether that’s catching up with friends on face time, gabbing on the phone, Or grabbing a favorite read and chilling with stuffed friends, let’s make the most of it! I mean when else will you have an excuse to make a blanket fort? ;)
