Dirty Little Secret(Tentative Title)

A/N: This is a Baze fic I’ve been working on, it’s been sitting in my docs and I’m not sure if I should post it all? Give it a read and let me know what y’all think!

Quick history-Netta, full name Lunetta, and Baze had a one night stand, Netta leaving before he woke up the next morning, then wind up working together and having to deal with their ONS and the aftermath. It progresses from there once they smooth things over after Lia’s (full name Aurelia) session.

~

Once both girls had a Double Double, fries, and a shake in them, they each separated to their own rooms to change and relax for a few hours, before meeting again out on their patio for a smoke session. Lia only stayed for a bowl or two, then left to lounge in her bath before her nightly routine. As Netta shifted to take up Lia’s now abandoned seat on the couch, she opened various social medias, checking in, before finishing with her Instagram. With a small smirk, she chuckled softly as she saw Baze’s handle in her inbox along with a cheeky message of ‘Found you’, along with side eye and wink face emojis. Chewing her lip, Netta opened the message and replied.

LuLuBlake: You think you’re clever…Why didn’t you just ask Lia for my number?

Bazexx: Well, when you and Lia both hightailed it out of there. It was kind of hard to get your number.

LuLuBlake: So how’d you find me?

Bazexx: It helps when you’re all over Lia’s account…And she tags you. Cute handle, by the way, LuLu.

Netta’s cheeks heated and she chuckled softly, shaking her head as she tapped away.

LuLuBlake: Funny, Steven. Listen, people only call me that with special permission from me. Call me that again and it’s your ass. Yee?

Bazexx: Yee, ma’am.

Bazexx: Aren’t you kind of tired of this Instagram messaging? Now that I’ve got you here…Can I get your number?

LuLuBlake: Ooh. Smooth.

LuLuBlake: Didn’t you say this was just a ‘sneaky link’? Why do you need my number? You have me here.

Bazexx: Ohhhh. Okay, it’s like that? I’m hurt.

Bazexx: Alright. Well, since I ‘have you here’…Do you know where the house is? Or should I just come grab you for a backseat bang out? Ladies choice.

LuLuBlake: Such a gentleman, Stevie.

LuLuBlake: I remember where the house is. Are you all home? Cause sneaky link implies we’re able to not get caught. House full of homies doesn’t really help.

Bazexx: Damn, you’ve really got an arsenal on you, don’t you? I like that.

Bazexx: Come over. It’s fine. I’ll game everyone into going for food so we have some time. Deal?

LuLuBlake: Mmm…Food that I get to take part in as well, yes? I’ll gladly bring cash to pay you back.

Bazexx: Hmm…Sneaky link implies a bang and bail. Isn’t that what you wanted??

LuLuBlake: You compromised for me. I suppose…I can, say, bring my stash and we can smoke and talk. We can chill a little? That’s what you wanted right?

Netta smirked lightly as she watched the little ellipses floated and baubled along for several minutes until he sent a simple ‘Sure’. She chuckled softly and sent an ETA before setting her phone on the table to pack and smoke another bowl. As she let out the smoke, Lia walked out in her favorite pair of sweats, a crop sweater and with damp hair, brushing it out as she asked, “What are you smirking and giggling at? Started up the dating apps again?”

Netta gagged and turned to her, giving her a look. With a smirk, Netta said, “God, no. I’m so fucking done with those, Li.” She packed another bowl and handed the bong to her cousin who sat beside her once she shifted back into a sitting position. Taking the bong, Lia asked, “So, who were you talking to?”

“No one. I saw a funny post and sent it to a friend.” Netta said offhandedly. She started to pack away her things once Lia took her hit. “Did you want another? I’m gonna go for a walk.”

“Nah, I’m good. It’s nearly 10, I’m gonna turn in early, maybe binge a few episodes first.” Lia said, placing the bong in its place behind the couch. Eyeing her cousin, Lia delicately said, “If you’re really going for a drive…”

“Lia, I’ll be fine. I’m still kind of on edge. I just need to not think for a while.” Netta said as she slid her box under the couch and stood, grabbing her phone and drink from the table. “Oh, and Laudii sent me some new tracks, so I want to listen to those too.”

With a nod, Lia watched her and said, “Alright. Should I wait up? Or is this an all night drive?” Netta hung her head back with a sigh as she gave it some thought, then said, “I dunno. Don’t wait up for me, just in case. I’ll text you when I’m on my way home, okay?”

“Luna, please be safe, okay?” Lia said, with a worried look. Netta chuckled softly then waved a dismissive hand at her as she went inside and to her room. Quickly changing, stripping off her panties, but stuffing fresh ones into her small backpack, Netta put on a pair of black sweats and a crop top under a cream colored knit sweater. Grabbing an extra change of sweats, just in case, stuffing them into her bag, she grabbed her phone, keys, and wallet from her dresser and quickly slipped out the front door.

~

Baze was able to convince the house to go out for food, which he knew would take them at least an hour. Giving the excuse of wanting to sleep and to just bring back something for him, Baze was able to buy some time to clean his room just a little more before his phone lit up with an Insta DM. His lips tugged upward into a smirk as he read her message telling him she was parked down the street, waiting to get the go ahead to walk up. He went downstairs, making sure the proper cars were gone from the driveway before sending her a thumbs up and unlocking the door.

Netta took a breath as she eyed the thumbs up emoji, then locked her phone, getting out with her bag and locking her car as well. Slipping the strap of her bag over her shoulder, she quickly shuffled down the street and up the driveway. Pulling out her phone again, she sent him a message that she was at the door, and Baze sent one back saying it was open. As she pushed it open, she jumped, slightly, seeing Baze leaning against the wall by the door. Baze chuckled and Netta rolled her eyes with a chuckle and said, “Jesus. You can stand there but you couldn’t open the door?”

“Compromising, right? I left it unlocked for you.” Baze said with a cheeky smirk. Netta looked up at him as she closed the door after slipping inside. He smirked and took her hand, lightly, leading her upstairs and to his room. Letting her walk in first, Baze closed the door behind him, turning to her with his fingers ready to lock the door as he asked, “Do you mind? Just in case Rook decides to barge in.”

Netta turned as she set her bag down on his desk chair. With a small smile, she nodded as she unzipped her bag. Baze chuckled and turned the lock. When he went to her, sliding an arm lightly around her waist, his eyes widened slightly.

“Whoa. I mean, when you said stash, I didn’t think you meant a stash.” He said teasingly. Netta glanced up at him with a soft chuckle as she pulled out a packet of gummies, a pack of joints, and a quarter ounce, setting it on his desk. She chuckled again as she handed him the joints and said, “Well, I couldn’t bring my actual stash. Lia walked out on me as I was packing up. She would have been suspect if I took stuff and said I was going for a drive.”

Baze snickered softly and took the pack, opening it and pulling one out. Setting the pack back down on his desk, he held the joint at his side as he looked down at her and said, “So, how exactly are we doing this? Kissing, no kissing. Do you just want to bang it out now and smoke later?”

Wow. Damn. Get right to it, I guess.” Netta said with a teasing laugh. Baze chuckled and slid his arm around her again, if only briefly, as his hand lifted to push back her curls from her cheek. Sucking her lower lip between her teeth briefly, she gazed up at him and said, softly, “If our thing is going to be compromising…I would have to say that I wouldn’t entirely be opposed to the girlfriend treatment…If that’s what you’re asking for?”

“I just want to know my boundaries, darlin’. If you want like a fling, every now and then kind of thing, sometimes girls aren’t into the whole making out, pillow talk, intimate shit. Just want to know where you stand, love.” Baze said, sliding a hand over her cheek. Netta tilted her head back as his other hand snaked over her hip and tugged her closer against him as his hand slid further into her hair. Closing her eyes for a moment and biting her lip, hard, she took a breath as she opened her eyes again and slid her hands over his chest, lightly.

“How about this; Do what you do. If I’m uncomfortable or what have you, you’ll be the first to know.” She said, in a rather sultry tone as he lips pulled into a sly smirk. Baze smirked and pushed his hand to the back of her head, gently but firmly guiding her head closer, and her lips to his. She tried not to kiss him back hungrily, though every fiber of her being wanted to, but she took his lead and pulled back when he did. Though she couldn’t hide the wide smile that spread across her face, she rolled the material of his shirt between her fingers lightly as she chuckled and said, “But, let’s get this going so we don’t end up having a chance of being caught.”

Plucking the joint from his fingers and grabbing the quarter ounce bag, she bounced over to his bed, turning in the air as she jumped to plop on the bed with a giggle. Baze chuckled softly, watching her as he slowly made his way over to her. She kept her gaze locked with his as she slowly lifted the hem of her sweater, lifting it up and not caring if her crop top rode up as she tugged it over her head and off. Licking his lips slowly, Baze smirked and let his eyes roam once contact was broken, peeking for a glimpse of, what he hoped was, a braless breast. However, her crop top didn’t ride up enough and he was left wanting as he came to stand in front of her, catching the material in his hand as she made to throw it. Tugging it from her hand, he tossed it over his shoulder before scooping her up and moving her over in one quick motion.

Netta squealed out a laugh and wrapped her arms around his neck as he placed her in his lap once he was seated. Crossing her legs, she shifted in his lap and felt around for the joint as he kissed her again, but briefly. His lips curved into a smirk as he watched her, keeping her face close to his as a hand lifted to pick at his beard lightly, then gave it a soft tug. When her fingers found the joint, she lifted it to her lips as she sat back, waiting. With a chuckle, Baze never broke eye contact with her as he reached over to his nightstand, grabbing a lighter from a ceramic dish. Lifting it to her, he sparked it up, lighting the tip. Once it burned to a nice, cherry red, Netta leaned back, sliding her palm over his shoulder, then his back to keep herself steady, and held the smoke in as she smirked at him. She then closed her eyes and tilted her head back to let it out in a slow, smooth line.

With a soft groan, Baze’s gaze raked down her throat then her body as his hand slid over her hip. Placing soft kisses along her neck, he smirked against her skin as she said, “Ooh, am I so good you couldn’t wait for a hit first? Damn…Good to know.”

Looking down at him as she felt his lips pull away from her skin, she giggled and bit her lip briefly before taking another hit and offering him the joint. He took it with a smirk, then said, “Don’t let that ego get too inflated, now…”

Netta wrinkled her nose at him and giggled, letting her fingers trail down his throat, lightly, as he took a large toke and turned to her. As her eyes lifted to meet his, she smirked, as did he, then he leaned closer to her, kissing her deep and slow while he blew the smoke into her mouth. She let out a soft moan into the kiss, her fingers threading through his beard briefly, before sliding her hand across his cheek and into his hair. She shifted in his lap quickly, straddling him, before he pulled away, breaking the kiss and turning his head slightly to blow out the remainder.

“Mmm…Well. We didn’t do that last time.” Netta said with a chuckle. Baze held her hip as he took another hit and mused at her lightly as she wrinkled her nose at him again. Chewing her lip, slightly, Netta pulled her hands from his hair and let them drift back under her shirt, fingering her bra clasp. Slipping the straps out from her sleeves and her arms through, she tugged the thin material out from under her shirt and tossed it away. Baze slid his hand from her hip, up her side and under her top, cupping her breast gently. Tousling her curls lightly first, she let her hand drop and slowly cover his hand beneath the material, watching him as he set the joint in an ashtray on the nightstand, then pull her closer to passionately slide his lips over hers, his tongue slipping through, demanding entrance into her mouth. With a light moan, she obeyed, her lips parting for him, and her hands sinking into his hair and tugging gently. Netta tilted her head back with a sigh as Baze’s lips traveled down her neck and his hands both pushing up her top, guiding her arms up so he could pull it over her head and off.

“Mm-God, I forgot how good you smell…” Baze murmured against her skin as he buried his face into her neck, then travelling down to her chest. Netta chuckled softly as she held his head while he laid soft, sweet kisses over the tops of her breasts. With a soft moan, she slid a hand into his hair and said, sweetly but teasingly, “Yeah? You missed me? Got addicted, huh?”

Baze chuckled softly, then gently bit at her breast before flipping her onto her back. Netta let out a soft squeak as she felt his teeth sink into her skin, then raised it to a light yelp as he flipped her. She giggled and clung to him, gazing up at him once she was beneath him. Her fingers found the collar of his shirt and gave it a tug, Baze quickly obliging and tearing it off before descending on her, smashing his lips against hers. Netta moaned into the kiss and hooked a leg around his hip as she kissed him back, sliding her hands over his back and shoulders, slowly drifting to his waistband. Breaking the kiss, Baze nipped at and sucked little marks into her neck, making Netta whimper and make other soft noises as he went.

Panting softly, Netta’s lips found his ear and whispered softly, “Touch me, Baze. Now.”

He groaned into her neck as his hand quickly flew to her waistband and slipped beneath it, then stopped. Netta’s lips curved into a smile along the shell of his ear before he pulled away from her, looking down at her with darkened eyes as his voice became rougher when he said, “You naughty girl…No panties?”

“This is a fuck and duck, right? Why not make the process a little quicker?” Netta mused with a soft shoulder shrug. She smirked up at him, wrapping her fingers around the XX diamond necklace that hung around his neck, tugging him closer until his ear was at her lips again. Whispering with a little more coyness to her tone, she said, “So, you can either finger me or fuck me. You can do both. Pick one and do it. Now.”

As a wicked smirk crossed his face, Baze pushed his hand further, sliding over her mound and swirling his finger around her clit. Netta’s eyes fluttered closed and her fingers gripped at his arms, letting him push her legs open more to gain better access, as his hand shifted. His thumb now swiped up and down slowly over her clit while he sank his middle finger inside her, slowly pumping.

“Oh? Nothing smart to say now?” Baze purred in her ear. Netta pressed her temple against his as he continued to whisper in her ear. Casting a look down, seeing his hand shoved into her sweats and working between his thighs, she whimpered softly and turned to face him as she felt her orgasm building. Baze smirked before sliding his lips over hers, kissing her deep and slow as he worked his fingers inside her, pumping and rubbing until she broke the kiss with a soft cry, then melted into a mound of moans as he rode her through her climax, writhing in pleasure beneath him. As she came down, panting hard, she tugged his hand from her sweats and pushed him onto his back. Baze chuckled and watched her, putting a hand behind his head as her fingers slid along his waistband.

“Let me hear you say something smart, now.” She teased as she slid his sweats and boxers down, wrapping her hand around his cock, pumping slowly. Baze hissed through his teeth, then moaned softly. Netta giggled lightly. “That’s what I thought.”

Before he could say anything back, he was rendered speechless as her lips descended over his tip as she took him into her mouth. Pulling his hand from behind his head, his fingers quickly wrapped around her curled and soft strands, tugging lightly as her head bobbed over his cock, her tongue licking and swirling around his head and then down his shaft. His hand sunk deeper into her hair, until he had her by the roots, his fingers curled right as she brought him to the edge of his climax. She pulled her mouth from his cock with a soft moan, swallowing hard before licking her lips as she gazed up at him with a coy smirk.

Looking down at her with a half dazed, half upset look, he said, “He-Hey. At least I let you come.”

Netta giggled and crawled up to him, pressing her bare breasts against his chest. She mused at him lightly and said, “Oh-mmm…I just figured you’d want to come in me…”

He laughed softly and said, “In your mouth or your pussy, baby, it’s in you.” Netta let out a loud laugh, Baze chuckling along with her, then she took his hands, guiding them to her waist.

As she got in his face, her lips sliding along his lightly, she said, “Will you shut the fuck up and take my pants off so you can fuck me?” She pressed her lips to his, kissing him deeply with a soft moan as he obeyed, quickly lifting her to tug her sweats off and toss them off the bed. As he gripped her waist to flip her on her back, Netta pushed him back down and smirked, shifting to sit on his hips, then sliding a hand down her body to reach between them, guiding his now hard cock to her entrance.

“So demanding and controlling tonight, aren’t we?” Baze chuckled, sliding his hands over her thighs, then to her waist. Netta smirked and said, “I let you have control last time. Don’t get me wrong-It was beyond hot. But in the spirit of our compromising relationship…I figured you wouldn’t mind relinquishing to me for a minute.”

“Oh, honey. I do not mind. At all.” He half growled out, his eyes drifting down to where she held his cock, her fingers lightly stroking him. She giggled and shifted her hips, slowly siding down on his shaft, tilting her head back with a moan. Baze closed his eyes and pushed back into his pillow, his own moan slipping out. He looked up at her, his hands sliding up from her waist to cup both her breasts, rolling her nipples between his fingers, lightly. Netta moaned and covered his hands. Reaching out with her other hand, she pointed a lazy finger at the joint that still clung to life with a sad, little smoke trail. Baze chuckled and handed it to her, his hand trailing down her arm as she lifted it to her lips, taking a long drag. Handing it back to him, she waited until he had set it down to lean closer to him, sealing her lips to his and blowing the smoke into his mouth as she kissed him deep and slow.

As she began to move her hips, she leaned back with a moan and Baze groaned as he watched her face. Her mouth was slightly dropped open in pleasure, with her brows drawn together in a similar fashion. Her eyes were closed and her curls were tossed across her face, haphazardly. He smirked and sat up, wrapping an arm around her as his lips enclosed over a pretty, pink and perky nipple, his tongue playing with it, lightly, before he dragged it through his teeth. Netta gasped then moaned, her hand flying to the back of his head, cradling him as he suckled, then sucked a mark into the side of her breast. She slid her hands down his arms then to his chest, pushing him back onto the bed. She giggled as his eyes grew dark while he watched her, sliding her hands over her breasts before shoving one into her curls, planting the other on his chest as she shifted again, leaning forward to give her a better angle to bounce in his lap.

“Ohh-Ho..Ly fuck, Luna. Ohh, God.” Baze moaned, holding her waist as he shifted as well, moving with her hips to thrust in and out of her. Netta paused for a half second, caught off guard by the name he used, but let it pass as his hands slid up her sides. Netta tilted her head back with a moan, dragging her nails along his chest, lightly, before finding his hands in the air and catching them, lacing their fingers together. As Netta desperately tried to move her hips faster, Baze caught on as she began to squeeze his hands a little harder. Pulling his hands from hers, he took her waist and rolled her onto her back, pinning her to his mattress as he readjusted himself then began to thrust in and out of her faster.

“Oh-B-Baze. Fuck, fuck, yes-Oh!-Yes, p-please-” Netta squeaked out as she rolled her head from side to side, her hands clawing at his arms as he kept her waist pinned down and a leg, bent and tucked under his arm. Baze released her leg, sliding his hand to her jaw and turning her face to him. Netta’s eyes snapped open in time to see him toss his hair back with a groan, then look back down at her with a lustful look. He saw her own eyes grow dark after seeing him towering over her as he tunneled his cock inside her.

“Yes? Please? Please, what, Luna? Use your words, dove.” Baze growled out softly at her, his hand lightly gripping her jaw as he slowed his pace, making her hips squirm and roll faster as she tried to build her orgasm back up again.

“Plea-Please, please, Daddy, let me come.” Netta purred at him, her breath hitching as she felt him slip a little deeper inside her for a brief moment. Baze raised an eyebrow and smirked at her, giving her a small nod to continue as his thumb slid over her lower lip, gently forcing her mouth open for him. She let her mouth drop open, letting her lips part slowly before allowing Baze to guide her chin lower. She gave him a sweet moan, his name tumbling from her lips softly as he sped up his thrusts again. “Oh!-Wait, please-” She tugged at his arm until he bent closer to her and she could whisper in his ear, “Baze, whatever the fuck you did before-Do it again. I want to come with your cock deep inside me. Please, Baze.”

Baze groaned and slid his hand from her jaw, closing it around her neck for a moment before bracing it beside her head. She felt his hand squeeze tighter on her hip as he began to grunt softly, trying to shift his cock deeper inside her. With each thrust, Netta let out a gasp or moan or some other sweet noise that she made in his ear, spurring him on until he finally sunk his teeth into her shoulder and thrust harder and faster until the pleasure that tingled so sweetly in his balls finally spilled out. Netta cried out his name softly as her own climax hit her. She clung to him, fingers buried deep in his hair, the other hand digging her nails into his shoulder. Her nails were sharper, so when she dug too far, he released her shoulder and turned to tug her hand away, pinning it above her as his thrusts slowed to a stop while he rode them both through their orgasms. Netta arched against him with a series of soft moans, whimpering as her waves of pleasure ebbed away. Finally she let out a soft gasp and went limp beneath him.

With a soft, breathy chuckle, Baze kissed along her neck before collapsing on the bed behind her, snaking an arm under her neck, leaving one draped across her waist. Netta giggled and sighed, biting her lip as she felt her clit still pulsing with lingering pleasure. As her hands slid over her body slowly, gathering her senses still, Baze slid his hands over her arms, catching her hands as he nuzzled her hair, lightly, with a small smirk. Netta sighed, contently, as she slowly opened her eyes and watched his fingers dance and play with hers before he curled both their arms around her, pulling her back against him. Netta giggled and turned her head toward Baze, meeting his lips with a slow kiss.

“We still have another 55 minutes…” Baze teased. They both broke into laughter and she rolled away from him, still laughing.

Baze led Taddie out of the restaurant, Taddie staying close as she clasped his hand between hers for a moment before sliding a hand up his arm, curling around it to hold as they walked. While they ate dinner, the crowd slowly waned, so they were able to take a stroll down to the far end of the pier to window shop, then came back up for the Ferris Wheel.

“So, if you were worried about the Sea Dragon going upside down…This one will take us up high. Hardly any protection…” Baze teased as they approached the ticket booth. Taddie gave him a look.

“Are you trying to talk me out of it?” She shot back. Baze chuckled and shook his head.

“Nah, nah, baby. I’ll protect you, don’t worry.” He said, continuing to tease her, giving her side a playful squeeze. Taddie shot him a playful glare and gave him a soft shove, though kept her fingers intertwined with his.

“Just don’t rock the fuckin’ thing and I won’t need protection…You will.” She teased back. Baze smirked and snickered as he pulled her closer and lifted their conjoined arms so he could put his arm around her, their fingers still laced. Once she was tucked into his side, he gave her a small squeeze as he planted a soft kiss on her lips. Taddie giggled and leaned against him as they stood in line. They got the tickets and quickly made their way to the wheel. Since they were one of the only other people in line, Baze ushered Taddie ahead, then whispered to the attendant to stop it at the top. The man chuckled and winked at Baze before he smirked and went to sit next to Taddie, putting an arm around her.

Taddie leaned against him and smiled up at him as she crossed her legs once the bar across their laps was locked in. With one hand, she gripped the bar in her lap and the other she laced her fingers with Baze’s as the ride started moving them backwards. Baze gently squeezed little fistfuls of her side as they rode to the top and back around. Taddie squeaked and pinched his leg until he stopped. Baze chuckled and glanced at the ride attendant as they came down and back around to go up again. He gave Baze a wink and watched their cab until it got closer to the top, and slowly brought them to a stop when they were there. Their cab gave a little sway as they came to a stop, causing Taddie to squeak and grip Baze’s arm. He chuckled and tightened the arm around her waist as she glanced out.

With a soft sigh, Taddie relaxed and looked around, her smile growing. “It’s so pretty at night. I wish I brought my camera.” Taddie said, resting her head on his chest as her eyes flitted about. Baze chuckled and nuzzled her hair, lightly.

“Well, this is a good picture spot. You’ve got an iPhone–Hey!” Taddie pinched his leg again, but lightly, before she dug through her purse for her phone. When she opened her camera, she handed it to Baze, who held it out a little more, trying to get a good background for her. Taddie smiled and leaned into him as his strong hand slid up from her hip and rested on her shoulder. He quickly took the picture as the ride started moving again. Taddie let out a small screech, immediately clamping her hand over her mouth as Baze laughed and handed her phone back. Her cheeks turned red as she giggled softly, embarrassed, and shoved her phone back in her bag.

They made one more go around before they got off and headed back toward the car. As Taddie walked beside him, she couldn’t stop glancing out at the shore. She chewed her lip as she eyed the stairs to the sand that got closer and closer. When they were a few steps away, she turned to Baze and said, “Is there possibly time for one more shenanigan before you deliver me to my sister?”

Baze chuckled as he looked down at her, asking back, “What kind of shenanigan?”

With a smile and a mischievous giggle, Taddie gripped his hand and pulled him to the stairs then stopped. Shifting her weight and starting to take off her heel, she looked up at Baze and said, “I’m going in the water. I don’t know about you, but I’m going.”

A mad little giggle escaped her as Baze smirked at her, giving her a once over with a raised eyebrow. “In the water? Now? Girl, do you know how cold it is in there?”

Taddie managed to get one shoe off and teetered off the other. Still gripping Baze’s hand for leverage, she planted the other hand, shoe and all, on her hip and sassed at him, “What’s wrong? You can’t handle a little cold water?”

Baze smirked and quickly pulled his hand from hers as he knelt down. Taddie called out at him, flailing slightly and leaning forward to grip his shoulder instead. Giggling, Taddie tossed her hair over her shoulder and looked down at him, watching him unstrap her other heel before untying his own shoes. He stood and took her hand again, quickly kicking off his own shoes and picking them up. Taddie planted her shoeless foot on the wood of the pier and bent down, swiping up the other heel as she kicked it off, then gave Baze a cursory glance before starting down the stairs, lifting her hand as Baze tried to catch up to her and make sure she didn’t trip. Once her feet hit the sand, she stepped to the side, waiting for Baze, then laughed as he tossed her a smirk and continued pulling her along, down toward the water.

Their laughter echoed through the dull noise of the pier. Once or twice, Baze caught her when she stumbled in the sand before they finally got to the tide where the sand was firmer. Taddie drifted from him, slightly, as they slowed their pace just before they met the water. Taddie came back to him and bit her lip, watching the tide fall in and sweep back out. Baze let go of her hand as he turned and tossed his shoes a little further up, then bent to roll up his jeans. Taddie tore her gaze from the waves and moved her hair out of her face, watching him. She quickly copied him, though stepping back to place her shoes next to his. She took off her purse and set it down inside her jacket that she also had shrugged off on the way down. She gathered her hair and stuffed it back into the hair tie as she turned to Baze who was now standing up and glancing around for her. She giggled and ran at him, placing her hands firmly on his shoulders to let him know she was there, before finding her footing and jumping onto his back.

Baze tossed his head back and laughed as he stumbled back sightly, one hand firmly wrapped around her thigh, the other flailing to find balance. Taddie giggled and dipped her other foot down to help him, then kicked off when he stabilized and gripped her calf to pull her back. She slid her arms around his neck and giggled as he chuckled and trudged back toward the water.

“You better watch it!” Baze said between laughs. “Girl, I’ll dump your ass into this cold ass water, I swear.”

“No! No. Don’t! Baze, please!” Taddie laughed, peppering his cheek and neck with kisses, lightly nipping at his lips. Baze chuckled and turned his head to hers as she came back for another cheek peck, and met her lips as his feet met the water. Baze quickly pulled away from the kiss as he called, “Holy shit! That’s fucking cold!”

Taddie laughed and wiggled around until he set her down, one leg at a time to make sure she didn’t fall. When she trotted out in front of him, still holding his hand, and not even a whisper of a flinch, his jaw dropped and Taddie giggled. “What? It’s cold, but I’ve stood in colder.” She said. “I slid into the fucking frozen ass water in Tahoe…During Christmas…On a sled. This is nothing.”

Baze shivered and shook his head. “I’m about to take you to Cleveland in the winter and throw your ass in Lake Erie. Then we can talk about cold, okay?” Baze said. He couldn’t help but smirk at her and just watch her. She giggled at the teasing threat and let go of his hands to turn and venture a few more steps further.

Holding her hands out for more balance, she waded into the water up to her knees before she turned back to look at him and chuckle, waving him over. Baze smirked and waded in after her. When she saw him heading toward her, she turned back around to watch the horizon, watching the boats in the distance and listening to the waves. As Baze reached her and slid his hands over her hips, she jumped, slightly, turning her head as he came up behind her. She smiled and looked up at him as he slid his arms around her.

“I…Cannot feel my legs.” He said. Taddie rolled her eyes and bumped him away with a giggle.

“Men are such babies.” She said, wrinkling her nose at him. Taddie made her way back to their shoes and glanced back to see Baze close on her tails at a slightly quicker pace. She squealed and picked up her speed, dashing out of the water and up to their things. Baze caught up to her quickly once they got out of the water and held her waist as he swung her around. She cried out a laugh and turned to him once her feet hit the ground again. He pulled her closer and held her, staring down with his green gaze. Taddie bit her lip as she curled her fingers around the edges of his shirt and tugged him closer, lifting on her tip toes to crush her lips against his. Baze bent his knees slightly, rewrapping his arms across her cheeks and stood straight, lifting her up to better match his height. Taddie squealed into the kiss, then pulled away, kicking up a foot.

“Are you ready to head back now? No more of your shenanigans?” he teased, gently, touching his nose to hers. Taddie giggled and nodded, wrapping her arms around his neck to pull him in for another kiss. Baze stood there for a moment, shifting on his feet and turning in place slowly, just holding her as they kissed. Making sure he had a firm hold around her, he let an arm slid up her back and cradled the back of her head. Taddie sighed softly and let him guide her head as he swiveled from side to side. All she wanted was to thread her fingers through his hair. She twisted and curled her fingers around his soft locks, playing with them, until she gave a small whine when he pulled away. Her hands slid down his arms as he set her back down. Taddie smiled and followed him as he trudged up to their shoes. They gathered their things and slowly made their way back up to the stairs and to the car in silence.

~

Baze closed the door as she got out and Taddie took a step closer to him as he leaned against the car. He smirked and rested his hands on her hips, Taddie leaning on him slightly. Taddie rested her hands on his chest, sliding them up to his shoulders. A low chuckle rumbled through him as she moved her face closer to his, tracing her nose along with his gently. Taddie giggled.

“I had fun tonight.” She said softly, lifting a hand to drag her fingers through his beard, lightly, before brushing her fingertips against his cheek. “Thanks for not ditching me like our friends did.”

She added a sassy head tilt that made Baze chuckle and say, “No. I’d never. Especially not to someone as gorgeous as you…That’s downright disrespectful.” Taddie rolled her eyes and giggled, toying with him as he inched for a kiss, but Taddie kept him just beyond his goal.

“Oh?” She giggled. “Really? Now, do you say that to all the girls or is that a line to get them up to your room?”

Baze chuckled. “Oh, come on, now. You think I’m that bad?” He asked, sliding his hands up her back, trying to keep her close. Finally, Taddie gave in, with a giggle, and kissed him. Baze kissed her deep and slow, one arm wrapped around her waist, the other hand snaked through her hair, holding the back of her head, gently. With a soft whimper, Taddie broke the kiss and smiled at him. She brushed her nose against his as she shook her head and said, “Nah…You’re alright…”

With a soft giggle, Taddie kissed him again then glanced at the house. With a soft, sharp inhale and she said, “Think they’re watching us?”

Baze snorted softly, casting a cursory glance back at the house before running his nose along her jaw and down her neck. “Rook is probably…If he’s not passed out by now.” He said with a soft chuckle. Taddie chuckled and pushed at his face as she turned to him.

“Well, if he’s not, Thea will be.” She said, shifting on her feet as she pushed away from him and took a step back. Her hand trailed down his arm and caught his hand as it slipped from her waist. She gave his hand a soft tug and Baze pushed himself off the car.

“You won’t stay?” He asked, gently, pulling her closer. Taddie bit her lip as she gazed up to him, her eyes burning. Color bloomed deeply in her cheeks as she stuttered to say, “Baze, I-I…I’d really like to but…I don’t think…I really want to, but I-”

“Hey, hey,” Baze said gently, cupping her face. He gave her a soft smile and said, “It’s okay. No pressure, baby. It seems like you’re anxious about something…I thought I’d ask.”

Taddie smiled softly and nodded, lifting to press a kiss to his lips again. “I’m sorry. If I had been better prepared, I’d love to stay.” she said. She wrapped her hands around his wrists and smiled up at him. “Don’t get me wrong, I’ve thought about asking Thea if I could tag along. You guys look like a blast to hang out with.”

“Well, maybe next time it can be a group date?” Baze asked, dropping his hands to her waist. Taddie slid her hands over his arms and chuckled.

“I think that might still be a tad too anxiety inducing…” she said. She sucked her bottom lip between her teeth for a moment as her smile widened and she added, “Why don’t you choose where we go next time since I chose this time?”

Baze chuckled and nodded, ducking down for another kiss as he said, “Sounds fair.” Taddie chuckled as he kissed her slowly this time. Just as they broke apart, they turned as the doorknob jiggled then the door swung open.

“Oh, goodie. You’re back.” Thea chirped with a smile. Taddie gave her a look as Baze moved behind her, sliding his hand across her lower back. She glanced up at him and smiled, but the smile soon dropped as she looked back toward Thea who was walking out to them.

“Rookie passed out. Be careful when you walk in.” Thea said, adding a smirk. “Did you take advantage of my sister, Baze? I’ll have your balls on my desk if you did.”

Baze snickered and held up his hands, taking a step back from Taddie as he said, “I was a perfect gentleman. I swear.” Taddie shook her head and said, “Can I just meet you at the car please?”

Thea shrugged and skipped past her saying, “Fine. But don’t take long…I will come looking for you.”

Baze chuckled as he turned to watch Thea skip down the driveway and to her car. Taddie waited until she got in before grabbing Baze’s hand and tugging him behind the Jeep in front of Baze’s car. After a distant ‘Rude!’ pierced the neighborhood, Baze chuckled and shook his head, turning to Taddie. She pulled him closer and smiled up at him.

“So…I’ll see you next time?” She asked. Baze nodded and said, “Next time.”

He ducked his head down and pulled her flush against him as their lips slid together, mashing against the other in a distant hunger. Before it could get any more involved, Taddie pulled herself from his lips and sighed. She slid her finger over his lips and chuckled softly.

“She’s serious. She’ll come after me.” Taddie said. Baze smirked against her finger and kissed it gently before pulling away. “I have to go.”

Taddie perked up for one last soft kiss before slipping from his arms and hurrying down the driveway and getting into the car. Baze followed her to the front of the Jeep and watched her, smiling then giving her a wave as Thea pulled out. Taddie sat back and sighed, a slow, content smile crossing her face.

“So…You didn’t stay.” Thea said as she drove down the street. Taddie’s smile dropped and she looked at Thea. Her smile quickly returned as Thea’s ridiculously excited face made her laugh.

“No, you psycho! I didn’t stay. It was a blind date. I’m not gonna give it up on a blind date of all dates.” Taddie said.

“So, it went well, then? You’re seeing him again?” Thea asked as she turned onto the highway. Taddie smiled and looked out her window. As she propped an elbow up, she chewed her nail as she replayed the night in her head. “Tads.”

“Huh?” Taddie turned to her cousin, pulled out of her trance. Thea chuckled and glanced from her to the road.

“Are you seeing him again?” Thea asked. Taddie chuckled and tilted her head back on the rest, not saying a word. Only a pleasant smile crossing her face.

When Slim, AJ, and Baze boarded the plane, they indeed stopped by Giacomo and Marciano to speak with them. Their own men bristled at the seeming disrespect, but Slim maintained an air of confidence and merely chuckled when they blocked his path to Giacomo. Slim smirked and said, “I need to speak with your boss.”

“I’ll give him the message. What do you have to say?” One of the men asked. Slim smirked and said, “Oh, it’s for you as well. Better if you all hear it.”

Baze shifted to be able to see past the men, locking eyes with Giacomo and gave a polite smile as he said, “If and when you’d like to speak with Don Romano, you and your men will bring the request us. Not to him.”

Marciano was visibly agitated by the order, but Giacomo placed a hand on his son’s shoulder, not looking away from Baze as he matched the polite smile, and said, “Thank you. I will be sure to oblige.”

Slim bowed his head in respect and moved along, down to the back of the plane. AJ and Baze followed suit, not speaking to the De Luca men as they passed, lining themselves to block Colson as they sat down. Marciano glared at the men as they passed, waiting until they had sat down and were talking amongst themselves to turn to his father and say, “How can you let them disrespect you like that? What authority do they have-?”

“It was a message from Don Romano. That is authority enough, Marciano.” Giacomo said harshly, giving him a look. Marciano blinked, surprised his father was defending the young don. The young man shifted in his seat, clearing his throat as he said, “I wasn’t aware you sympathized with him.”

“You wouldn’t, Marciano, now would you? The d’Este bastard has blinded you to your own family.” Giacomo said, narrowing his eyes at him. “Remember where your loyalties lie, my son. It is not with them.”

Marciano dipped his head down, showing respect and regret to his father, then turned to look out the window as the plane took off. Giacomo glanced down the aisle of the plane to Colson, watching them all for a moment before turning to smile at the stewardess as she came to take their orders.

“Do you think he’s going to come back here? It’s not a long flight.” Slim said, tearing his gaze away from the De Luca’s and looking back at his boss. Colson sipped his drink and smirked, giving a brief shrug.

“He might. But I never specified that stood for only the plane ride, did I?” Colson replied. Slim smirked as AJ and Baze exchanged looks and chuckled. He let his men have their moment before he added, “When we get back to Catania tonight, I’ll explain it all. But Giacomo has literally handed me a power I’d never thought I’d have over d’Este. I intend to see how serious he is about it before I make any move.”

“What about Marciano? Him and Enzio are fucking butt buddies. He’d never turn against him.” Baze said. Colson tilted his head and watched the young De Luca as he struck up a conversation with his men.

“Apparently, they’re not as close as we thought. Marci doesn’t know about everything Enzio has done…” Colson’s eyes flickered between his men as he lowered his voice and said, “Like killing Cosmio.”

“Everyone knows he did that.” AJ piped up, softly. “Shit, we knew he did it before he knew he was going to do it. Everyone knows he’s the go to hitman.”

Colson shrugged and said, “Well, Giacomo must have kept it from his son. Cosmio was his fucking cousin for Christ’s sake. If Marciano knew he killed him, I’d have no respect for him if he stayed friends with d’Este.” He took another sip of his drink and sat back, watching as Giacomo stood, waving his men off as he made his way to the back of the plane. Slim saw the smirk spread across Colson’s face and turned. AJ and Baze stood while Slim remained seated as the Don reached them.

“Don De Luca. What can I do for you?” Slim asked, laying a leg over his knee and folding his hands in his lap, smiling politely. Giacomo smiled at the men and said, “I’d like a word with your boss…In private, if we could?”

Atta forced herself to smile and have fun in town with Carina and Maddelena. The pair dragged Atta all over, into every store. They stopped at a cafe for lunch and snacked as they shopped, then finally ended the night at dinner on the water. Carina and Maddelena sat together and chatted away with their phones, now that they could sit down and unwind with a glass of wine. A content smile sat on Atta’s lips as she gazed out over the ocean, the pleasant sea breeze playing with her hair.

“Josie.” The firm tone that said her name jolted her out of her own head and she turned to her friends. Both girls giggled and exchanged looks, prompting Atta to smile a little more and give a soft chuckle of her own as she asked, “What? What did I miss?”

“Atta, we’ve been calling you.” Carina said with a chuckle, handing her phone over to her. “Look what your brother sent me.”

Atta chuckled and shook her head, lightly, taking the phone. Carina and Rook, just like Atta and Colson, had always been attracted to each other. Only in Rook’s case, he was allowed to court Carina. Early last year, John sat his son down and made it clear to him exactly who he was courting.

Carina was the only family member left of the Greco clan, save her grandfather; Elder and Don Alessandro Greco. The Greco line ended when Carina’s father and brother were killed in a drive by; An act of retaliation from Martel Muller after the XX retaliated for the attempt on Colson and Cosmio’s life. Carina was extremely lucky, and very grateful, that Alessandro had his eye on Rook to marry his granddaughter anyway.

I have some thing for you, come to Marsala tonight?” Atta read aloud, then gave Carina a look accompanied by a knowing smirk. With a chuckle, breaking her facade, she handed the phone back and said, “Do you think he’s going to propose?”

Carina giggled and shrugged. She sipped her wine as she reached for her phone, taking a moment to reply to Rook. Atta and Maddelena exchanged looks and chuckled. Carina looked up, looking between the both of them with a wide smile as she set her phone down. “What? I don’t know. Maybe? I wouldn’t be surprised. Rook said John mentioned something about announcing his engagement at either his party or the joint party.”

Atta sighed and cast her gaze down, staring at the menu. Maddelena watched her cousin. “Atta, andrá tutto bene. You’re not choosing a husband at the party. It’s just the presentation of suitors.” She said, closing her menu and setting it aside. Maddelena and Carina both reach for the bread and oil as Atta sighed and shook her head.

“Yes, Madde. But then, I’m put under scrutiny. Everything I do will be watched. I’ll have to stay in Marsala so the elders can watch my interactions with the sons. Then they’ll all be in my ear telling me what to do and who to choose. I’m not happy for it. Any of it.” Atta spat out in a rapid slur of frenzied Italian and passion. When she looked up at her friends, they both were slowly picking at the bread on their plates and watching her. Atta cracked a smile and picked at her napkin as she muttered. “Non sono ubriaco…”

The pair chuckled at their friend, breaking out in playful Italian jabs as their waiter approached. He gave the group a warm smile and asked, “Buona sera. What can I get you tonight?”

As Carina gave her order and Maddelena quickly scanned the menu once more, Atta glanced around the restaurant. She saw a few familiar faces that made the corners of her mouth lift up slightly. But it was the figure with a grey trenchcoat at the back that struck her most. Especially when she saw the dark shades that covered his eyes. The sun had long since set so no one should have been wearing sunglasses. It seemed that one the figure realized his presence was noticed by her, he quickly shuffled along the back fence where he stood and quickly left the restaurant.

“And for you, Singora Cappelletti?” The waiter’s voice brought her attention to him, scrambling for her menu to answer him. He jotted down her order, gave them all a polite smile and said, “Grazie. Your food will be out shortly.”

He gave a small bow to Atta as he walked away. Atta sighed and sat back, fingering her wine glass as she stared at it. Carina snacked on the refilled bread as she smiled and sat back, texting with Rook. Maddelena set down her phone and looked up to start a conversation, but stopped when she saw the look on Atta’s face.

“Cousin. What is it? There’s something else bothering you.” Maddelena said. Atta shifted, sitting a little straighter in her seat and sat forward, glancing between both women. She took a deep breath before she said, “I ended things with Colson.”

Carina snorted in her drink and Maddelena inhaled the piece of bread she chewed on as she gasped. Atta rolled her eyes and tried to hide a smile as her friends pulled themselves together. Maddelena gulped down her water, coughing a few more times, while Carina wiped her face and said, “Um, I-I’m sorry. You-You did what?”

“With the party coming up, I didn’t want to risk exposing us. Daddy would kill him, the Dons would be pissed, and the elders would remove him. Not that who I fuck is any of their business anyway…” Atta said, sitting back. Maddelena cleared her throat one last time before she spoke.

“Wait. So…It’s over over? Fuck, I thought you two would at least attempt to make a case to the elders.” Maddelena said. Atta merely shook her head and sighed.

“It would be useless. They would still punish him for fooling around with me without Daddy’s blessing. God, this whole thing is bullshit. They shouldn’t be presenting their sons for marriage, they should present them for fucking adoption! Then Rook would have a second and I can live my life in peace.” Atta said.

“Between the party, actually choosing, then the actual wedding? Atta, things might change. You and Colson belong together just as much as me and Rook or Madde and Cosmio.” Carina said. She hesitated and prayed the guilt she felt showed enough as she managed to get out, “Dio non voglia…If something happens to John-”

Atta shook her head with a chuckle. “Rook still can’t do shit. The elders will probably kill Rook if he tried. John has already spoken to us about it. Not to mention the Dons would riot and demand his removal. Colson would have to kill them all; the elders, the Dons, their families, if we wanted to get married.” She said. Atta gave a soft sigh and added, “That or he would have to turn the Dons on the elders or somehow get them to like him.”

Maddelena waved a hand at Carina as she opened her mouth to respond and set down her glass. “No. No more. We are done talking about this. This entire situation is complete bullshit and I’m sick of seeing you upset like this.” She said. “You have been getting more and more depressed since John told you about this three months ago. Colson’s been gone for four. You shouldn’t have been forced to fuck up your reunion like this. I’m tired of seeing you hurt.”

Atta blinked at her cousin as Carina snickered softly. Atta slowly broke a smile and began chuckling, meeting Carina’s gaze as they chuckled together. Just like Atta at meetings, it wasn’t often that Maddelena spoke up, but when she did, she was heard. Maddelena’s anger faded as she also broke out in a smile and giggles.

“Okay, Madde. We hear you.” Atta chuckled, reaching over to give her hand a small, comforting squeeze. Maddelena smiled and gave a squeeze back.

“I’m sorry, but they can’t treat us like their own daughters way back when. Things have changed.” Maddelena said.

“I agree. But they’re old Italians. They’re more stubborn than a mule.” Atta said with a chuckle. As they spoke, their waiter came back over with their food and they put their conversation on hold for a moment, thanking the waiter when he was done. “If talking about it upsets you, Madde, I won’t bring it up anymore. Besides, I need a goddamn miracle to get out of this marriage.”

~

Colson motioned for his men to give them a little more privacy, though they only moved one row up. Giacomo took the seat across from Colson as he tried to keep his smirk from showing too much.

“What can I do for you, Giacomo?” Colson asked, lifting his glass to his lips and taking a sip.

Giacomo chuckled softly before he said, “There is no need to hide behind pleasantries here, Colson. We both want the d’Este’s out of power and for things to be run as they were before.”

“No.” Colson said, setting down his glass. “Not as they were before. My uncle had plans past installing the girls, you know this. Plans to go beyond Tomasso’s original goals. If you want me to take down the d’Estes for you, I’ll do it. But if you’re giving me that power, I’m using it. For too long, I’ve been cast aside because of stubborn, close-minded men. Too long I’ve been kept from my goddamn birthright. That is all going to change if you side with me, De Luca. This is my family. And I’m going to take it back.”

Giacomo watched the young Don closely as he spoke. When Colson finished and sat back, picking up his glass again, he chuckled and smirked at him, rubbing a hand over his chin as he sat back as well. “And, uh, if there are some Dons who will not agree with you on these changes?”

“I’ll already be in power. My grandfather gave them their positions and wealth…His grandson can certainly take it from them.” Colson said, evenly, meeting the man’s gaze. He did not return Giacomo’s smirk, instead stared intensely at him, showing he would not be swayed. “I’ve bowed to lesser men my whole life. If you aid me in getting it back, trust me, the gratitude will not be lost. But don’t think to double cross me, Giacomo. No matter what, John has the last word. He’ll seek revenge for me.”

Colson’s words didn’t seem to rattle the old man, as Giacomo simply chuckled then stood. Colson raised an eyebrow, but stood as well, taking the hand Giacomo offered and shook it. The Don kept a firm grip on Colson’s hand and said, “I see much of your father in you, Colson. When we return to Catania, we will speak further.”

Colson nodded and said, “My home is always open to you, Don De Luca.”

“My gratitude, Don Romano.” Giacomo said. He finally released his hand and turned to walk back to his own family. As he passed, AJ, Baze, and Slim all bowed their heads in respect before retaking their seats closer to Colson.

“What did he say?” Slim asked. Colson smirked and sat back, taking a sip from his glass.

“Not much. But I think we understand each other.” Colson said. “Call Dub in from London. I want him at the house before we get back.”

“Dub? Why? What’s going on?” Baze asked.

“We will be entertaining the De Luca family tonight. Dub can take a break from his London crew. I want all my men there.” Colson said. He looked at AJ and added, “You and Dub will be in charge. I want Baze and Slim with me. I’m sure Giacomo and I will be in the office for most of the time.”

“So, it went well. The talk?” Slim asked, casting a cursory glance at the other two. Colson smirked and finished his drink. He didn’t want to tell his men just yet, not until he had vetted De Luca entirely and was certain of De Luca’s allegiance.

“Yes. It went well.” Was all Colson said.

~

When they landed in Rome, it was a quick trip to the Castel where the cardinals and bishops were already waiting. Thankfully, each Don had their own car and Colson was able to spark up a quick joint before they arrived. It settled him enough to be able to endure the interviews, but the moment they stepped foot in the room and all the bishops and cardinals turned to look at them, Colson tensed and wanted to bolt.

He wasn’t comfortable being around so many holy men. Religion wasn’t something he wholey believed in, but he bowed his head for Grace and muttered along in church when he was required to attend. Other than that, he all but shunned the church which gave the Dons another reason to dislike him.

As Colson was the Don sent by John, Giacomo and the De Lucas stayed behind him and his men to let the cardinals greet him first. One of the cardinals approached and said, “Don Romano. It is a pleasure to have you in Rome.”

“Cardinal Vecchio.” Colson said, extending his hand to take the Cardinal’s. Cardinal Vecchio bent to kiss the ring on Colson’s right ring finger; the ring of the Romanos of Catania. In turn, Colson then took the cardinal hand and kissed his ring as well. Cardinal Vecchio moved through Colson’s men, each of them kissing the ring with a respectful ‘Your Eminence’. As Vecchio moved on, so did the other cardinals and bishops to greet the men.

Once the greetings were finished, Cardinal Vecchio led Colson and Giacomo to their seats, their men lining themselves behind the chairs. The remaining cardinals and bishops took their seats, save Vecchio.

“We understand the young Cappaallettis are to be married. Please pass our blessings and congratulations to Don Cappalletti.” He said, pressing his hands together and bowing his head. Colson nodded.

“Thank you, Your Eminence. I shall pass along the message.” He said. Colson raised his voice a little louder as he addressed the room. “You are all well aware of why we meet here today. Singor Cappalletti wishes to have a cardinal officiate his daughter’s wedding. He will accept a bishop, but it is my decision on who will be chosen. We will call each of you to the seat in front of us and ask a few questions. Cardinal Vecchio. Since you are without a seat, shall we begin with you?”

“Of course.” Cardinal Vecchio bowed his head and took a seat as the long process began. Colson and Giacomo interviewed the cardinals and bishops, each asking their own questions and discussing between the two of them. Colson knew that Rook and Atta would doubtfully have a joint wedding; A joint everything else in their life was enough. John gave only the best for his Mafia Princess. Armed with that knowledge, Colson took an early lead while interviewing the cardinals, though gave De Luca room for his input. He had Atta’s voice in the back of his mind, not just the fight, but her comment that John wanted a cardinal at her wedding.

Colson knew sending him to Rome was a test for him, to see how well he could do choosing an a bishop or cardinal for Atta’s wedding that wasn’t to him. If he couldn’t be impartial and keep his cool on this simple task, he knew he wouldn’t end up being invited at all. Atta would never forgive him if he sabotaged himself and wasn’t there, so Colson sat there, going through the monotony of questions until another thought sprang to his mind.

John was careful in selecting who showed up that day. Colson noted the Archbishop of Palermo, and the Sicilian representative, was the only low ranking holy man there, and he was there solely for being their island’s bishop. Each cardinal and bishop held loyalty to one of the XX families. It was Colson’s curse that the d’Este’s held control in Palermo, their home. While Vecchio was the most logical choice for both ceremonies, being unwavering in his loyalty to the Cappalletti family, if Atta was, as she made it seem, going to be forced to choose d’Este, the bishop would also be chosen by force. Unable to keep his disdain for the bishop from his questions for the moment, Colson let Giacomo take the lead while he sat back and listened.

“…And my final question, Archbishop; Will you be performing any personalized rituals for Donna Cappalletti and her new husband?” Giacomo asked, looking up at the bishop from the paper he read. He removed his reading glasses and folded them up as the bishop spoke.

“In my time as Archbishop of Palermo I have performed every d’Este wedding. I include every family tradition and ritual they ask. I use the same rituals in every ceremony in Palermo.” He explained. The answer received the murmur of approval from his fellow clergymen and seemed to satisfy Giacomo, but it struck Colson as odd.

“Thank you, Your Grace.” Giacomo cleared his throat and folded up his paper. “Don Romano will now ask his questions.”

The archbishop bowed his head then turned to look at Colson. Colson shifted in his seat, sitting a little straighter but still with a slight lean. “You’ve said you use these rituals in every wedding in Palermo, Your Grace.” Colson stated simply, if only to ease into his line of questioning while trying to seem unbiased.

“Yes. I do. It became a fashion for my people. I am here only to serve.” He said with a polite smile. Colson nodded.

“We do not yet know who Singora Cappalletti will marry, so there is always room for changes…However, if the wedding is not in Palermo…” Colson started, leaving the atmosphere to tense slightly. He saw the archbishop’s eyes widen and his body tense, his polite smile now stiff and frozen in place. A few cardinals glanced at each other and whispered. Colson heard a soft laugh come from Giacomo and he glanced around the room before he added, “Will you still hold these rituals? If she does not marry a d’Este it may seem odd to have Palermo observed but not the newlyweds home.”

“If the wedding does not take place in Palermo…” The archbishop started, clearing his throat. “Then I shall perform as Don Cappalletti wishes.”

Colson could hardly keep the smirk from crossing his face as he leaned forward and asked, “And what of his daughter? It is her wedding after all. What of her wishes?”

“Yes, yes. As la principessa wishes, of course.” The archbishop said with an unsure chuckle. Colson stared at the bishop, taking his time to let the moment resonate with him before he said, “Very well. Thank you, Your Grace. You may take your seat.”

Colson sat back as the holy man quickly shuffled along to his seat and Cardinal Vecchio stepped forward. “I hope me and my colleagues have answered your questions to your satisfaction.” He said as he approached the Dons. “We shall expect an answer presently?”

Giacomo turned to Colson, waiting for his response. Colson glanced at him, then turned to the cardinal and said, “This is not simply a wedding of the family. It is the wedding. Two of them, in fact. It is not a decision that should be made in haste, nor without the input of both the young Cappalletti’s but their father as well. If Don De Luca and I may be allowed to discuss with the family, we shall announce our choices in…A week’s time?”

It was not the answer any of them wanted. That much was clear and it told him everything he needed to know about how truthful Atta had been. Colson was to announce that Cardinal Vecchio and the archbishop were to be chosen, to coincide with both John’s wishes for a cardinal and the d’Estes to have their one claim to arrogance with the archbishop. But he refused to give them that satisfaction; the cardinals or the elders. There was a slight uproar in the murmuring of the disgruntled men. Cardinal Vecchio cleared his throat and the room fell silent.

“We eagerly look forward to your decision, Don Romano.” He said, bowing to them both. The other cardinals and bishops followed suit, all of them standing and bowing to the Dons. Colson scanned the room and sighed, softly. John handed him this power to choose. He only withheld his decision to have time to plan. The choice was his alone, though to prove his loyalty to the family and not his heart. Unfortunately for the Dons and the elders, in Colson’s mind, they were one in the same. It was now his time to make some moves and they would be big. For it all to go smoothly, Colson would have to plan every last detail, down to the minute. The slightest hinge could ruin him forever.

While Rose and Harlow shopped and attempted to set up the studio, Colson was a few blocks away at his own studio, finishing up a few songs. Throughout the day, Colson and Rose texted on and off. Colson sent her a few videos of the antics they were getting into, as did Rose once she and Harlow went shopping. Around 9:30, Rose and Harlow called it a night and headed home. Once they got inside, Rose text Colson.

Oh, fuck, is it good to be home…Zzzzz

His phone buzzed on the table and Travis picked it up to hand it to him, saying, “Phone’s buzzing bro…Who’s Rose?”

“Ey, ey!” Colson called with a smirk, turning to swipe the phone from his hand. Travis chuckled and said, “Sorry, man. The emoji threw me…Who is she?”

Colson smirked as he responded to her, taking a little longer to talk a bit with her before he looked at Travis and Goody Grace, who was now watching with interest. His smirk grew a little as he finally responded, “She’s just a girl I met. She’s pretty cool. What?”

“You don’t use emojis in your contacts unless they’re important.” Goody said with a smirk, glancing at Travis with a chuckle. Travis smirked and looked at Colson, waiting for a response.

With a light chuckle, Colson admitted, “Okay. She’s cute. What?”

“Shit, look at him! He’s all flustered!” Goody laughed. “Shit, Kells, is this the one?”

“Fuck off.” Colson said, turning to try not to laugh, but his smirk remained. He cleared his throat as he sat down then said, “No, really. We just met, dude. I’m taking it easy.”

“Uh-huh.” Goody teased. Colson flipped him off as Travis chuckled and said, “Alright, relax. Let’s get back to this album.”

~

Rose’s phone buzzed on the island and she abandoned the fridge, picking it up to read the text.

Wish I could say the same. Been in the studio for 12 damn hours.

12 hours? Jesus. You really want this album out already.

I knew you were a fan! Ha ha! You’re damn right! We’re getting close though.

At least you’re close. That’s always a good feeling :)

True. Damn I wish I could call you right now. I’m gettin stir crazy in this bitch.

I’m free? Or are y’all still in the middle of it?

We’re in the middle of it. I’ll call you when we take a break, if you’re still up?

When will you take a break?

Maybe an hour or two?

Yeah. I should still be up :) Don’t trip. I’m sure if I miss you, you’ll text me tomorrow. :P :)

Rose sat there for a moment and when the ellipses didn’t pop back up, she figured he got pulled away and she’d hear from him later. After setting her phone down, she went back to the fridge and called, “Lowey! The fuck are we gonna eat?!”

“The meatloaf and potatoes should still be good!” Harlow called back.

“Bitch, that was two weeks ago. Gross.” Rose said, not bothering to yell this time as she heard Harlow coming down the hall. As Rose tore apart the fridge, she put expired containers in the sink and Harlow dumped them out and washed them.

“What do we got?” Harlow asked after glancing at Rose when she heard the door close. Rose sighed and turned to the island.

“Uh…Not much. My tamale pie that was supposed to be a work lunch today…Rice, Patti potatoes from New Year’s dinner…I still have sauce. We’ve got cheese and pasta?” Rose offered, turning to look at Harlow.

“Spaghetti Bake?! Fuck yeah!” Harlow exclaimed. Rose chuckled and cleaned up the island before starting to cook. Harlow glanced at Rose again, and with a small smirk, she said, “So, did you talk to Colson today?”

Rose gave her a look as she poured oil and salt into the water in the pot on the stove. “Possibly. Why?” Rose asked with a smirk. Harlow tossed her head back and laughed.

“I knew it! He cannot go a day without talking to you! Ha!” Harlow snickered. Rose rolled her eyes.

“Low, it’s been three days. It’s an infatuation, a crush, if anything. He’ll move on by next week.” Rose said, taking out a saucepan and placing it on the stove.

“Why can’t you accept the possibility that he actually might like you?” Harlow asked as she sprayed down the sink and dried off her hands.

“Because he doesn’t? Not like that anyway. Low, why would he settle for me; 28 year old nothing who just got fucking fired and can’t even support herself? When he can find any girl he wants, who’s prettier, smarter, and has their shit together?” Rose said as she dumped the sauce into the pot.

Harlow groaned.. “God, Rose! Do you not want to see it or are you really that oblivious?!” Harlow asked. Rose gave her a look as she bent to get a dish from the lower cabinets.

“Low, I’m sorry. I don’t think he’s that into me. Until he asks me out or something, I’m not wrong.” Rose said. Harlow shook her head, tossing up her hands in defeat.

“Alright, fine. I won’t bring it up again unless something changes.” Harlow said. Rose looked at her and gave her a small smile.

“Thank you…Now, can you preheat the goddamn oven?”

~

2 hours later, Rose was set up on her bed, curled up with her laptop as she smoked a joint, doing a little research for a few of her own writings. In the silence of her room, dim light illuminating it, she was so focused on her computer, she almost tipped it as she was startled by her phone vibrating on the nightstand. Rose sighed and chuckled, reaching over to place her joint in the ashtray then grabbed her phone as she pushed her hair back.

Fuuuuuuuck. We still up in this bitch…Still awake? Colson’s text read. Rose chuckled and quickly went into her Snapchat to screenshot her Snapcode then sent the picture in response.

Too drained to text :P She sent in addition. A small smirk crossed her face as she set her phone aside.

~

Colson bobbed his head along to the music as he sent the text, half smirking to himself before looking up as the song ended. “Yeah, bro. That’s dope. I like it. Where’s my notebook?” Colson asked as his phone buzzed again. He looked down, as his notebook was passed over to him, and smiled. He saved the picture and opened his Snapchat, adding her quickly as Travis handed him the notebook.

“Ready? I’m gonna play it again.” Travis said, glancing at him. Colson nodded as he leafed through the notebook to find his page.

“Go for it, bro.” Colson said, finding his place. He looked up just as Travis played the music and listened for a moment then started rapping, finding his rhythm.

~

Rose’s phone buzzed and she smiled as she opened the app and added Colson back. Going into the chat, Rose reached for her joint again, taking a hit as she found her favorite filter, then ducked her head down as she slowly exhaled. Throwing up the two fingers that held the joint in front of her face, she took the picture and sent it off.

She chuckled to herself and set her phone down, going back to her writing. After a while, she made a quick trip to the kitchen for a spaghetti bake late night snack. By the time she got back, a snap from Colson was waiting for her. Crossing her legs beneath her, she opened the video and sat back, smiling, as she watched him rap a new song, ending the video with a smirk and a wink. His wide, happy smile made her smile as well, but the wink made her stomach flutter. She chewed her lip and sent a snap back and a message.

That sounds lit! Am I gonna get all the new content? :P

What happened to ‘too drained to text’? XD

Snapchat hits different.

Shit. That’s actually true.

Rose chuckled and they sent a few more snaps back and forth before the both went silent; Colson diving into a few more songs and Rose with a sudden burst of inspiration, she tapped away. After another half hour, the FaceTime ring filled her silent room. With a slight jump and a soft chuckle, Rose picked up her phone to answer. When Colson popped up on the screen, she couldn’t help but smile.

Goddamn, it’s good to see a new face.” Colson said with a sigh and a light smile. Rose chuckled, as he took a hit of his joint, then said, “Yeah, well, you’ve got some good timing. I lost my groove and now I’m stuck again.”

Stuck on what?” Colson asked. Rose shrugged and took a hit.

“Just a couple of stories I’ve been working on for a few years.” She said.

Taking time for your own work. Good. Fuck that one prick.” Colson chuckled. Rose twitched but covered it by taking a hit as she glanced over at her door as it swung open slightly.

Looking back at him, Rose said “Yeah. That, plus I’ve actually had some good ideas to expand on a few things. Rewriting and shit.” She paused for another hit, then added, “How’s the studio?”

Colson groaned, letting his head flop back for a moment, then said, “I’m fuckin’ tired. But we’re making some pretty good progress.

“Close to finishing?” Rose asked, with a small smirk, taking another toke. Colson nodded and chuckled.

So fucking close, I can goddamn taste it.” Colson said, making Rose chuckle.

“I know that feeling. Far too well.” Rose chuckled. Colson smirked and took a quick toke. He was about to speak again, but something jumped onto Rose’s laptop, slamming it shut. She screamed and jumped, dropping her phone and almost dropping her joint. Colson jumped a little as well, startled by her scream.

Hello? Rose, are you okay?” Colson called. Breathing heavy, Rose grabbed her phone while a massive furball curled up, half on her chest, half on her lap. She shifted to set her joint in the ashtray so she wouldn’t drop it.

Yes, Benji, I see you! Jesus Christ…” She brought the phone back to her and said, “I’m fine. Sorry. Benji tried to kill me.”

Who’s Benji?” Colson asked with a chuckle. Rose smiled and angled the phone to show the Egyptian Mau sitting on her.

“Benji, Colson. Colson, Benji.” Rose said, looking down at the cat. She smiled and chuckled as Benji let out a soft ‘Meow’ and reached up to headbutt her gently. Rose giggled as she turned her cheek to him, nuzzling Benji as he nuzzled her. Colson bit his lip and smiled as he watched them. While giving Benji’s ears a scratch, Rose said to him, “Yes, my love. I see you. You’ve got to stop sneaking around or you’ll give me a heart attack.”

I didn’t know you had a cat.” Colson said. Rose chuckled and looked at him.

“Technically. He’s not really mine.” Rose said. Colson chuckled.

How’s that?” He chuckled. Rose smirked as Benji licked her face before she pulled away.

“He’s our neighbor’s cat. They moved across town, but Benji kept coming back. We’d call and they would come get him but one time they were just, ‘Do you want to keep him? He seems to like it there’, so he wanders around the neighborhood and usually sleeps here.” Rose explained. “I haven’t seen him in a while though. He’s stubborn, so most times he sits on the neighbor’s front porch all day.”

They don’t let him in?” Colson asked. “Just leave him out in the cold?

“They’re not pet people, they say.” Rose said, shifting to set her phone on its dock on the nightstand. “And I’d never just leave him out in the cold. I have a box out there for him in the winter. They don’t mind him hanging around so I put a bed on their porch for him.”

Colson chuckled and watched as Rose moved her laptop to the floor then shifted to lay down. “Okay, Benji, ready?” Rose said as she moved the cat off her. She giggled, glancing up at her phone and said, “Watch. This cat is so fucking weird.”

His gaze flickered between Rose and Benji, as Benji watched Rose intently, kneading her comforter. Colson laughed as Rose opened her arms and Benji charged her, snuggling under her. Rose smothered him, gently, nuzzling him and scratching his belly. Happy mews sounded as Benji purred and snuggled against her. Rose chuckled and kissed the top of his head.

“Every night he’s here, he demands his cuddles.” Rose chuckled as she looked up at her phone. “If he can’t sit on me, he will follow me around and scream at me until I do.”

Colson laughed and said, “That’s one odd cat, for sure.” Rose nodded and chuckled, taking a glance down at Benji. Colson smirked and took another toke before he asked, “Hey, how’s your hand? Any better?

She lifted her hand and turned it this way and that, opening and closing her fist. “Yeah. It’s okay. It doesn’t hurt as much now that it’s properly stitched up…Don’t tell Harlow I said that.”

Colson chuckled. “Only got a month left to heal.” He teased, causing Rose to give him a look. Though it quickly melted to a small smirk.

“Hopefully not that long. But we’ll see.” Rose said. When she then stifled a yawn, Colson smirked and said, “You need to sleep? I’ll let you go.

Rose gave him a tired smile and said, “Probably. It was a long day today. I can call you tomorrow?”

He shook his head and said, “Nah, I’m booked with shit tomorrow. Text me though. I’ll be able to text on and off.

Rose smiled and said, “Sounds good. Hope you get out of the studio soon. You need sleep too.”

Fuck, you don’t need to tell me twice.” Colson said with a sad chuckle. “Aight, get some sleep, baby. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.

Giving him a sweet smile, she said, “Goodnight.”

Colson winked at her and said, “Night.” Then ended the call. Once it was ended, Rose chewed her lip and smiled lightly as her stomach fluttered. She plugged in her phone and made sure the joint in the ashtray was out before she put it away, then slipped under the covers. Benji repositioned himself, since his cuddled were disturbed, and settled for curling up on the pillow next to her. Rose chuckled and gave him a few pets before snuggling into her blankets and falling asleep.

~

Over the course of the next two weeks, Colson and Rose texted and Snapchatted steadily throughout the day and FaceTimed every other night when he had the time. Rose still felt the need to hide the fact that she got fired and her studio was still yet to be up and running. She still hadn’t decided on a name, but when she wasn’t at the studio with Harlow, she managed to get the rest of the studio set up; Lights, props, backgrounds, etc. Colson was in L.A. for a majority of the time, but flew home to Cleveland that Friday to be in the studio with Mod and Harlow to check on her progress.

Rose took the day off from working at her studio and spent the day with Harlow and Mod at EST. The pair had laid down numerous tracks, mostly Mod helping Harlow with her album rather than doing their collabs. Quite often, however, Harlow got stuck on certain verses and called Rose into the booth to help with the melodies, since Rose was the one who helped write them. Mod was impressed, to say the least, at Rose’s singing ability but also of the friends voices when they harmonized as Rose helped her. He’d only seen Rose sing the one song at Galaxy and was impressed enough by that.

“You think you’ve got it, Low?” Rose asked, starting to take off her headphones.

“Sing it with me once? I do better after we sing.” Harlow said. Rose chuckled and gave her a look, placing the headphones back on. Harlow smiled and spoke more into the mic, “Mod, play it again?”

Mod chuckled and waited until they were ready, then hit play. Both the girl’s faces lit up as they smiled and bounced along to the intro. Harlow started singing and Rose chimed in as backup. When they got to Rose’s verse, she looked at Harlow as her own voice rose to the melody to help Harlow along. It clicked quickly for her and Rose smiled, hearing Harlow take over. As the song finished, Rose vocalized as Harlow sang the last few lyrics. Mod turned as the door opened and Colson walked in. He smirked as he went over to Mod, clapping hands and giving him a brief hug.

“How’s she doing?” Colson asked, watching the girls finish. Mod smiled and turned back to them.

“She’s been doing good. She got a lot of tracks down already. She’s a damn powerhouse.” Mod chuckled. Colson smirked and nodded as he slipped his red Gucci bag off his shoulder. Mod leaned over once the song was finished and spoke into the mic. “That was amazing, girls. Harlow, are you good to go solo?”

“Yeah. I’m good.” Harlow called. She smirked when she saw Colson and nudged Rose as she took off her headphones. Rose looked up and smiled, lightly, catching Colson’s eye. She placed the headphones on the hook below the mic and headed out of the booth.

“Hey.” She said as she went to Colson with a soft smile. Colson smiled and put an arm around her in a half hug.

“Hey. How’s your hand?” Colson asked, turning as he reached back to take her hand from around him, lifting it. He was surprised to see the bandage not only off, but the stitches gone, leaving only scars. When he looked at Rose again, she smirked and chuckled. “What the fuck?”

Rose giggled as he turned her hand over, then back, gently running his fingers over the scars. “I went in last Monday and asked if Xeroform or whatever it’s called would help.” She explained.

“Xeroform?” Colson asked, keeping a gentle hold on her hand as he took a few steps back to sit on the couch. Rose followed, sitting next to him with her knees up and resting in his lap.

“It’s like this gauze or something, yellow, you cut out however much you need and place it over the wound, bandage it and it helps shit heal. It’s like a second skin or some shit. I changed it twice a day for a week. It’s not totally healed, but healed enough.” She said. Colson chuckled, laying an arm on the armrest behind her.

“Well, those will make some sick tattoos, if you cover it.” He said.

“I don’t cover up my scars. I wear them with pride.” Rose said, puffing her chest, briefly. Colson chuckled and said, “That’s still badass…You’ve got more scars?”

He pushed her hair back, checking out her neck and shoulders, then looked over her arms. Rose chuckled and pushed his hands away gently, as she said, “Not where you can see.”

“Ooh. Is that an invitation?” Colson teased, leaning closer. Rose giggled and pushed his face away. Colson laughed and sat back as they started talking about their week, work, and Harlow in the studio.

~

After another hour, they broke for dinner. When Harlow got back in the booth, she already had the next song in mind.

“Hey, Mod? I wanna do a song that won’t be on the album…Not yet anyway. I just want to get it recorded, then we can go back to it later.” Harlow said, placing the headphones on.

“You sure? More time we take from the album…” Mod said.

“No, it won’t take time. We can lay it down in one take.” Harlow said.

“We? Me and you?” Mod asked, with an arched brow.

“No.” Harlow said. After a small pause, she said, “Me and Rose.”

Rose’s head shot up and Colson looked between them, just as surprised. Harlow smiled at her friend and said, “Just once, Rose. Come on, I wrote it for you.”

Rose shifted, her legs draped over Colson’s lap. She glanced at him, then to Mod before she said, “Harlow, is this a good idea? ‘The Piano’?”

“Just once. I really want to have this one recorded.” Harlow said, her voice softer. Rose sighed and nodded before she stood and went into the booth. The studio went silent in anticipation as Rose put the headphones back on. The pair stood facing each other, the mic between them. “You remember the words?”

Rose nodded and said a simple, ‘Yup’ before Harlow took her hands and said, “First track.”

Colson came over to help and selected the track then pressed play. A light, melancholic piano tune played before Harlow started singing.

He played the piano

With his while world, his loving family by his side

His club, his brothers were his loyal ride or dies

A beautiful wife and baby girl

That he never wanted to hide

Until the night

Rose closed her eyes and took a deep breath then sang, tears already running down her cheeks.

She played the piano

It was her one true dream

Her one true fantasy

All wrapped up in keys

She never wanted to leave

But she had her one true love

Who never said goodbye

Until the night, she took her life

Mod sighed and put his head in his hands. Colson winced and shook his head as he watched the women as they got to the chorus. The studio echoed with the power and emotions of their voices, never once letting go of the others hands. Tears streamed down Rose’s cheeks as she sang with her eyes tightly shut. A few tears slid down Harlow’s cheeks as she sang the last verse and Rose ended the song.

They play the piano

In a diamond sky looking down over me

And I hope they’re proud because

I can still breathe

I know one day I’ll see them again.

Before all this pain began

And Until the night

They’ll play the piano

Rose held back her sob as long as she possibly could, but on the last lyric, her voice cracked and she pulled away from Harlow, tearing the headphones off and covering her face. Harlow’s eyes snapped open once Rose’s hands left hers and she motioned to Colson to stop recording. Colson quickly ended the music and sat back with a heavy sigh.

“Rose. Rosie. I’m so sorry…” Harlow said softly as she wrapped her arms around her sobbing friend. Rose hugged her back and shook her head as she then pulled away and wiped her face.

“No. no, I-I’m fine.” Rose said with a sniffle. In a silent exchange, Harlow touched her arm with a concerned look. Rose nodded and sighed, softly. Harlow dug through her pockets and grabbed Rose’s arm as she turned away. Pressing a small paper bag into her hand, Harlow gave Rose a smile as she glanced down and chuckled, then both women left the booth. “Um…So, how-how was that?”

Mod smiled at her and said, “It was great, Rose. Perfect.” He pulled her into a tight hug and kissed her cheek. Rose gave him a small smile and glanced at Colson and the other producers in the room.

“Um, I-I’m gonna go outside for a bit. I, uh, need some air.” Rose said, breaking away from Harlow and making for the door. Colson quickly dug through his bag and pulled out a smaller bag, standing as he said, “I’ll go with you.”

Rose gave him a sweet smile, placing a hand on his chest, lightly, as he came over to her and put an arm around her, slightly. She looked at Mod, nodding toward Harlow as she said, “Make sure she focuses. I don’t want her distracted.”

Mod chuckled and threw an arm around Harlow’s neck and said, “Don’t worry. I’ll keep her on track.”

Harlow gave Rose a look as she headed back into the booth and chuckled. Rose gave her a look right back as se headed to the door that Colson held open for her.

Rook was dying to just rip your clothes off the entire night. You were all dressed up in a beautiful gown that Colson’s stylist, Ash, had picked out for you, to join the guys on the red carpet for an award show. It wasn’t a revealing dress or anything, but you just looked so beautiful that all Rook wanted to do was sneak away to the nearest private room at the afterparty and fuck you till you couldn’t walk anymore.

Unfortunately for him, every time he tried someone else would try to come talk to one of you. The one time he did manage to pull you away from the crowd, someone had caught you two looking for a closet or something and you had to lie and say you were looking for the bathroom.

As the night began to calm down, Rook saw his opportunity. Most of the people attending were either gone home, or so drunk they weren’t really paying attention to much. Rook took this opportunity to find you and try again for that quickie.

“Hey babe,” he said, grabbing your attention from the person you were talking to. “Is it okay if I steal you away for a second?”

Your conversation mate was already moving on to someone else, so you just shrugged in response. Rook took your hand in his, lacing his fingers through yours and pulling you away from the main room of the party. Knowing exactly what was going to happen, you felt your heart racing with excitement.

It didn’t take long for the two of you to find an empty bathroom. Before even opening the door, Rook attached his lips to yours and kissed you deeply. One hand was wrapped around the doorknob while the other was gripping your ass. You gasped against his lips as he gave your ass a squeeze and then a slight smack, which gave him the opportunity to slip his tongue into your mouth.

The two of you basically fell into the bathroom as Rook opened it. He pushed you against the door and started kissing your neck while trailing his hands up your dress.

“God, I’ve been waiting all night for this,” he breathed.

He began pushing your dress up around your thighs before slipping a finger under the waistline of your panties. You moaned as he began to rub your already soaking core, arching your back to try and give him more access to you.

“You’re already so wet for me baby,” he said. “Fuck, I can’t wait long.”

He spun you around to face the sink and bent you over, your arms bracing on the cool, white tile. You heard him unbuckle his pants and slide them down his legs. With your dress still pushed up, you felt Rook pull your thin panties aside and slip himself into you. You moaned with pleasure as he began to thrusting almost immediately.

You weren’t sure if you should keep quiet or not. The building was almost empty, but you knew Rook’s friends were still wandering around out there. There was a chance one of them could go looking for Rook and walk in on the two of you, but there was also a higher chance that they’d just send Rook a text to let him known they had left.

Rook was much less concerned about the volume. He was already thrusting ruthlessly into you, the sound of your skin loudly colliding and his grunts and groans filling the room. You had tried to hold them in, but it was no use. You were practically a moaning, screaming mess within moments.

When your eyes weren’t rolling back in pleasure, you caught glimpses of Rook in the bathroom window. His bottom lip and pulled between his teeth, and his sole attention was on watching himself slide in and out of you. He was so focused, so lost in the feeling of your warm, wet walls around him. It was so hot that you were nearly cumming just at the sight of it.

Neither of you heard someone coming down the hall, or the sound of someone knocking at the door. It wasn’t until the doorknob turned and you saw the door crack open that you realized someone was in the area - and that Rook hadn’t locked the door.

Colson’s familiar messy blonde head popped into the room. You let out a shocked shriek, trying to pull away from Rook so you could pull your dress down.

Colson quickly covered his eyes. “Fuck! Don’t y’all know how to lock a fucking door?!”

You had expected Rook to stop as well, but to your shock he was still buried deep inside of you. You wanted to pull away, to try and snap him out of his lustful daze to remind him that his best friend had just caught the two of you fucking. But you couldn’t help but moan as he grabbed your throat and pulled you so your chest was against his back.

Luckily, Colson quickly ducked out of the room again when it became evident that you two weren’t going to stop. Shortly after, Rook reached down to start rubbing your clit so quickly that you were having trouble staying stood up. You felt him twitch inside of you and knew he was nearly finished. With one last thrust that left him buried deep inside of you, Rook groaned and you screamed in pleasure as you both hit your climaxes at the same time.

You were basically seeing stars. Your head was nearly spinning from the pleasure. Rook rested his head on your shoulder, softly kissing whatever skin on your neck he could reach as he finally came down from his high. You eventually had to separate as it was becoming hard to stand up.

“Did you not realize Colson walked in on us?” you asked as you pulled yourself up to sit on the counter.

“I realized,” Rook responded. “At the time I was just so in the zone I didn’t want to stop. Now that I’ve finally cleared my head, I’m very embarrassed.”

You giggled. “Me too. I’m almost afraid to go face him.”

“You think he’s told the guys about what he saw?”

You cringed. “God, I hope not. The last thing either of us needs is them teasing us for having a quickie in the bathroom.”

“Maybe if we’re lucky they’ll be gone back to the hotel already.”

You sighed, silently hoping for the best.

Rook helped you down off the counter, making sure your footing was steady before the two of you exited the bathroom. The first good sign was that Colson hadn’t lingered after your embarrassing moment. You had hoped that meant maybe he just decided to leave all together.

The party was basically over with very few stragglers left, which made you feel even more embarrassed. Now you just wished you and Rook could’ve waited long enough to go back to the hotel room to have your intimate moment.

When the two of you exited the building, you found Colson waiting by the door with a joint raised to his lips, taking a few puffs. Rook reached for it, trying to act as normal as possible after what Colson had just witnessed in the bathroom.

“The others gone?” Rook asked as he took a puff from the joint.

“Yeah, I sent them back to the hotel,” Colson responded. “Told them I’d wait for you guys so I could make sure you got back alright, too.”

“Neither one of us are that drunk man,” Rook said. “But thanks for the concern man.”

“Yeah, I wish I hadn’t been concerned now.”

You felt your face heat up with embarrassment at Colson’s words. Rook merely chuckled, trying to play it off.

“Look man, I’m sorry. But have you seen my girl? She’s drop dead gorgeous.” Rook looped his arm around your waist and pulled you close for good measure. You smiled at him as he kissed your cheek.

“I can’t deny (Y/N)’s beauty, in a respectful way of course, but did you guys have to fuck in the fancy ass bathroom of this after party?” Colson question. “And did you have to keep fucking while I was still there? That shit is burned in my corneas forever now, man.”

“I was in the zone dude. Nothing was gonna break that.”

Colson let out a loud laugh, puffs of smoke billowing from his mouth as he did so. “You kinking fucking bastard!”

You hid your face in Rook’s shoulder as someone stood nearby turned to give the three of you a puzzled look. Rook chuckled as well and told Colson he was going to get a cab for the three of you. Before he walked away, he leaned in as if he were going to kiss you again, only to lower his voice to a whisper.

“Round two the moment I have you to myself in the hotel room.”

Your still aching core became wet again at his words. Knowing what the reaction would be, Rook smirked at you as he left you with Colson to go find you three a cab.

The next few minutes are going to be so painfully slow, you thought to yourself.
