This is but a few of the many species of corals I’ve made for my instagram series.
Corals are important member of the reef ecosystem.
They are not plants despite their similarity, they are actually invertebrates related to jellyfish. Corals DO photosynthesize - in a way, because their body hosts single celled algae called zooxanthellae which also gives them their brilliant color.
They’re called soft corals, because their body is just soft tissue that expands as they fill it with water.

Happy Easter 2016 to all who celebrate!
These are called “sea bunnies” (jorunna parva)
not an actual bunny nor mammal, but actually sea slug… adorable sea slug!
They graze algae on the sea floor peacefully, and only grow to about 2,5cm, how adorable is that!

Tangs, also known as surgeonfish because of the sharp scalpel they wield near the end of their tail, which are actually modified scale.
These are used for defense, tang keepers should be take care when handling.
All tangs are mainly herbivores, in the wild they graze for algae all day, in the aquarium they can be fed nori (dried seaweed) or blanched vegetables. Most food are accepted too. They will keep the reef tank clean of algae~

Rainbowfish: Colorful freshwater fish that makes excellent pets, they are highly active so best kept in a spacious aquarium! Hardy, straightforward, and easy to care for. Also not picky about their food, and have distinct preference for insects.
Absolutely safe for planted tank
