Our original concept was to make her an old male wizard, but as the story developed, we decided that making her a young woman gave her more agency, and opened up more possibilities for her in both Courting the Crown and future stories. Oh I really hope Cordelia isn’t the antagonist. I don’t think she is, but even if she is behind some of the things that have been happening I think and hope she’s being coerced or something into working under the true antagonist, whoever it turns out to be. Her line when she says “You might just save us all” could be a malicious forewarning, but it read more to me as someone who, if they are working for the other side, isn’t very enthusiastic about it and is hoping for an end to the conflict.
On a lighter note, holy shit??? MC and Theo have more of a past together??? Which doesn’t fully surprise me, because the chemistry in the dialogue has always felt more full-bodied and developed than if they actually just spent one summer together, but still. Friends to lovers, and especially childhood friends to lovers (or my brain is kinda playing around with the concept of reincarnation) is one of the most heartmeltingly beautiful tropes out there and my sappy ass cannot get enough of it.
AND RIAN HAS POWERS. I do hope he isn’t behind anything like Maeve accused him of.

I am so caught between thinking that Cordelia is without a doubt the antagonist vs she’s the red herring. Now that Gray is dead (hope that’s set in stone), the only other people MC trusts (especially about their secret) is Mae and Cordelia. And supposedly, it is someone we trust.
aaAA I wish I could’ve bought Theo’s option but I’m saving. I’m so pleased to know that there’s more in our history together!!
