LIVE

(This is a creation myth I am using for my world building and basically the universe is gay, have fun)

This realm and all others like it began all the same: in the darkness, surrounded by the primordial ichor. There was no ground or sky or sea as half forms would rise from the sludge only to be consumed by it once more. However, one managed to pull themselves from the muck and mire, half formed as they were. With them, they brought in a mighty will and only a single thought. Life. It was then that the ichor trembled, rising against them as a ceaseless wave but they refused to be swallowed, forcing the ichor back but they knew they were outmatched, half formed as they were. It was with one clash with the primordial sea that they made the sacrifice of creation.

They gave out their life force to bring forth new beings to fight against the ichor-fully made beings that could shape it and tame it into something new. Something permanent.

Thus did the ancient gods burst forth, birthed from this unnamed entity as they began to forge the ichor, turn its chaos into order and bring forth the creation of this realm and all others.

There were two of these deific beings that rose above the others, now known as Dayfaa and Nihmon. They are also called Day and Night or Creation and Destruction.

Dayfaa is described as a beautiful maiden with dark skin and hair the color of the dawn light and golden eyes. She danced through the air on grand wings that had every color one could fathom. It was her touch that breathed life into creations as she pulled the ichor from above and created the heavens and created light to shine down upon the creations of the realm.

Nihmon was much more plain to Dayfaa’s brilliant light, her skin was pale like snow and moonbeams, her hair pure white with eyes of silver. Whereas Dayfaa shone, Nihmon merely glowed, finding comfort in shadow. Swimming with a tail of white scales, she pulled back the ichor and uncovered the land, pushing the ichor back.

However, despite their opposition, the two never harbored ill toward each other, instead they watched the other in secret, longing in their hearts for the other. It was a longing they could not name as they continued to push back the ichor and unfurl the realm.

Nihmon was a clumsy goddess, her creations harming others without her willing it, even if she only touched it a moment. The other gods began to look at her with contempt for bringing evil to their paradise, sending her away instead to sit in her darkness. They could not see the balance Nihmon brought as she hid herself away.

Tears fell from Nihmon’s eyes, the first tears of creation, as Dayfaa found her sat among shadows and sat with her.

‘Do not sit with me, beautiful Dayfaa.’ Nihmon said to her, her voice like winter winds. ‘I am evil. I am useless and bring fowl things to your paradise’ Dayfaa touched the goddess’ face.

‘Never say such things.’ Dayfaa said, her voice a spring shower. ‘There is no paradise without you, your gentleness and softness smooths the harsh edges I leave. And look.’ Dayfaa said, picking up one of Nihmon’s tears as it shone, bright and radiant. ‘The only thing that offers more beauty than this is the feeling of your eyes falling upon me, leaving me weak and breathless.’ Before Nihmon could respond, Dayfaa placed the tear in the night sky, a shining jewel. ‘Come, Nihmon. Allow me to create beside you, let us show the others the beauty that you are.’ Nihmon was shocked by the goddess but accepted her proposal. It was together that they blanketed the night sky in gems that could guide all of creation. They proved to the others Nihmon’s place, the two growing closer as the others watched, wickedness stirring in their hearts.

As the formation of this realm and all others drew to a close, the goddesses found themselves entwined, never far from the other until, together, they formed one last thing together. It was a clumsy thing, gentle as the blooming of a flower yet stronger than raging storms. A power as much as it was a weakness. Together, they named it ‘love’ and shared their hearts with one another.

However, the other gods did not take well to this, jealous of the goddesses and their power. This, however, did not push them to action as they allowed the goddesses to become enraptured in one another, allowing the other gods to do as they like. It was noticed after a time, however, that creation suffered drastic changes while they were together. The sky would become the sea or entire realms would shift and float out to the primordial sea, barely saved before it was consumed. Terrible wars were fought by their creations over the ‘love’ that they had made, bringing blood into the realm. It was then a plot was whispered among them to bring balance to the forces the goddesses allowed to run amok.

It came to pass then, that Dayfaa was lead away from her lover by a ruse of an attack from the ichor, Dayfaa always rushing to the protection of others. Nihmon, on the other hand was lead away to view a new creation, always one unable to contain her curiosity.

Dayfaa and Nihmon were needed to bring balance into creation but the push and pull of them were too wild when they were freely allowed to wander. Once they had been lead to the proper places, they were put in chains of ichor that stuck to them like sap as they both tried to break free but were overwhelmed. After that, they were tethered to creation used to bring stability to creation as walls of glass formed around them, a small hole allowing them to see the other. This is the creation of the Astral Hourglass and is what sealed creation and began the march of time.

The goddesses fight and pull to each other, shifting the energies of creation from one end to other, bringing the balance we see in creation. The Hourglass will turn to and fro as they reach for one other, never able to embrace the other as they once had.
