Sorry about the shakiness. When I zoom too far it’s impossible to keep the image steady. This is an eastern meadowlark singing. I consider them among the most oddly-shaped, ungainly birds we have but I love their song, which sounds nostalgic to me, like they’re longing for something. I just love to see them. 

This was just luck. Yellow warblers hardly ever sit still but this one had been tussling with another one and it must have been stunned or worn out because it landed on this stem and just sat there for long enough for me to zoom in and take these pictures. 

Male ruby-throated hummingbird at the feeder this morning. It’s a rainy day and flowers aren’t producing much nectar so I get these esteemed visitors. If I can get a better picture with its throat shining I’ll post that too.

I’ve seen the Orioles coming back up here already! Put out your oranges and jams now. Get yourself a tiny Oriole here.

The biggest little raspberry thief ever. Ironically, Flash hates raspberries (because, weirdo). But, like a toddler, he must touch all the things with his little eraser tongue.
