I came across some information about actor Klinton Spilsbury which I found interesting and decided to include him in my profile series.

Spilsbury starred in “The Legend of the Lone Ranger” (1981). Unfortunately, the producers decided to dub over his dialogue, and due to many factors, the film was a failure.

During the promotional tour, Spilsbury was interviewed by Andy Warhol for his magazine. Later, in 1989, “The Andy Warhol Diaries” were published. According to Wikipedia, Warhol described the interview with Spilsbury as “nutty”. Although Spilsbury said he had been married once, he also told Warhol that he had fallen in love with actors Dennis Christopher and Bud Cort (no mention if it was reciprocated).

“Warhol described Spilsbury as “very drunk” during the latter part of the interview, and the latter also mentioned that “he’d been picked up by Halston and woke up in bed with Halston.”

Since Spilsbury left Hollywood after the Lone Ranger and never made another film, it’s difficult to verify Warhol’s assertions. But I did find an archived group chat from writer Peter David. One male contributor mentioned meeting Spilsbury - “very sweet man, but aggressive sexually”.

So there you have it… “The Legend of Klinton Spilsbury” who may be gay, bisexual, or straight. BUT no question - he was one of the most beautiful men in Hollywood in the 1980s.
