You glanced over at your watch as you opened the door to your apartment. 9:00 pm. Today was especially tiring because you had to stay back at the academy for extra hours and help with the graduation day preparations. Being part of the cultural club sure wasn’t an easy job.

“Hyunjin! Are you home?” you called out to Hyunjin, your significant other who had recently moved into your house.
But, no one responded. The house was strangely quiet but you were sure Hyunjin was home because you saw his shoes lying at the front door.
Something felt off as if something bad was about to happen.

“Y/N! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!” Hyunjin popped out from behind you, almost scaring you, holding a cake in his hands. His smile was brighter than the stars in the sky and that seemed to comfort you.
You couldn’t believe the ridiculous thoughts that you were having just a moment ago. It was just Hyunjin being sneaky.

“Let’s cut the cake shall we?” he asked, placing the cake on the table. You nodded in agreement.
Just as you were about to blow out the candles, someone knocked at the door. Who could it be at this hour? you thought.

“I’ll get the door. Don’t blow out your candles!” Hyunjin rushed towards the door.
Upon opening the door, he saw a tall man dressed in black. He looked rather intimidating.

“Yes?” Hyunjin asked the man.

“I am looking for Y/N. Y/N Lee.” he said.

“What for?” Hyunjin felt something suspicious about this man. Why would anyone come at this hour looking for Y/N?

What was taking him so long? you thought. The icing of the cake had already started to melt.

Suddenly, you felt it again. The silence. This ominous silence. So you decided to take a look, to ensure nothing was wrong and to ease your racing heart

You quietly walked towards the door. You heard the door click. “Hyunjin, who was-”

A sense of horror washed over you as you saw what was before you. Hyunjin. It was Hyunjin. He was on the floor and his shirt was stained with blood. Was… was it his blood? No, it couldn’t be.

You moved towards Hyunjin. Your legs began to feel weak and you flopped to the floor, beside Hyunjin.

“Hy- hyunjin?” you called out to him softly as you moved your shaking hands over to the blood drenched spot. It was his. Hyunjin had been stabbed. You tried to stop the blood flow by placing your hand over the wound. But, you could slowly feel his life ebbing away. Wha-what were you supposed to do? The person you loved was dying in front of you yet, you didn’t know what to do. Tears began filling your eyes as you stared at Hyunjin’s lifeless body.

Why would anyone do that? You couldn’t think straight, but you had to call the police. You quickly got up and grabbed your phone and a scarf. You tied the scarf around Hyunjin’s wound. But that was not enough to stop the crimson red liquid from flowing out.

Just as you were dialling the number you heard a voice. It startled you and caused you to look up.

“Y/N Lee. Here you are. You should’ve shown up earlier, then you would’ve been able to see how I mercilessly stabbed this kid.” a man said with a menacing look in his eyes.
“Wh- who?..” your voice trailed off, had he been here all this time? You thought.

You didn’t know who this man was, how he knew you or what he wanted. But… Why did he have to do this to Hyunjin?

“Well then, goodbye Miss Lee. I will come looking for you again.” the man smirked, as he walked out of the house.

“Y/N! Y/N?! Y/N!” you jolted from your sleep, gasping for breath.

“Your expression didn’t seem so good, so I woke you up. I’m sorry if I startled you Y/N.” Hyunjin said, sitting beside your bed.

You slowly sat up leaning against the bedhead. “Yeah… I just had a bad dream.”

“Well I know just the remedy for bad dreams! Let me make you a warm cup of coffee, just the way you like it!” Hyunjin smiled and ran off to the kitchen like a little kid.
You giggled looking at Hyunjin’s adorable behaviour.

So it was a dream after all, you thought. But what that man said kept playing in your head. You couldn’t stop thinking about it. Everything felt so vivid and… real. It was exhausting.

Everyone in this world had secrets. Some people shared their secrets with others and some took it to their grave. But your secret was a tiny bit different from others. You had dreams. You had dreams. Dreams that would come true in one way or another. Sometimes the dreams were blissful, but sometimes it was about deaths.

At some point of time you began thinking these deaths were your fault because you never tried to stop them. But even if you did, they would happen. Nothing could stop them.
