Today’s fic comes with a caution- there is no overt noncon but the fic does deal with very dark themes and there is some implied noncon.

The Last Part of MebyEscalus

Author summary:

Scott has been with the Alpha Pack for three years, even though he still holds himself apart from them. While he tries to thwart the Demon Wolf’s plans when he can, he has failed repeatedly. He’s emotionally exhausted and close to either pushing Deucalion into killing him or giving into the urge to be part of the pack for real.

However, things change when an old friend arrives, but they don’t change for the better.

Reasons to love the fic: Any fic that explores the idea that Scott went with the alpha pack is like crack to me, to begin with. This is another fic that explores the effects of isolation on Scott’s depression and how his relationship with Stiles can change that. This is a much darker variation and so fun. I especially love the Scott and Deucalion parts and the Stiles parts. The sciles of it all is so central to this story, too. And the scene with Melissa and Scott moved me to tears.

Be sure to let the author know if you enjoyed the fic!

The Haunted Man byscrapbullet

Author summary:

Intelligence and raw power can only get you so far, and even the loyalty of the ones called pack will waver and falter, falling away to nothingness. Deucalion is a merciful man and Scott will learn, soon enough, that his only allies are the ones he so vehemently proclaims as villains.

“A warning, to you and you alone.”

Reason to love the fic: I am obsessed with how obsessed with Scott Deucalion is at all times. And this fic delivers that so well in a fantastic Deucalion voice. It says so much about their relationship in such a few amount of words. Lovely.

As ever, be sure to le the author know if you enjoyed the fic!

April was, simultaneously, nothing like what I expected and more than I’d hoped for at the same time. It was a weird mix. I met some of the goals I mentioned having in the March round-up post, but not all of them. Overall, I feel pretty good about what I’ve managed, even if it’s not quite what I’d planned.

Total wordcount: 16, 513

Highlights:

  • Highest monthly wordcount of 2022 so far
  • Added 1.6k to the novel rewrite; while far below the goal I’d set, it’s still progress
  • Successfully finished—and posted—the Hanahaki fic for Shey (which can be found here)
  • Dipped my toes into a new fandom, and banged out and posted a short Jaskier/Eskel piece as a birthday gift (here)
  • Started planning—and writing posts for—my own Patreon page, which will be focussed on offering writing help (will post more on that as things get ready/closer to launch)
  • Started another birthday piece for another friend
  • Worked a little on the Stalion Neckz ‘n Throats fic I started a few months ago

Plans for May:

  • Get back on track with the novel rewrite; 5k is the goal
  • Finish the starting set of Patreon posts, and set up the page itself
  • Finish and post the two birthday pieces I have planned for the month
