Hi, I’m Erin, does anyone have $10 for my depression and ocd meds and $15 for dinner for 5 adults, 2 kids? My meds are very important to help me function. The kids are hungry now and I don’t know what to do. I was hospitalized not too long back and am recovering from the mental trauma of being revived and having been placed on a ventilator. I don’t know what to do. We’re going through a very hard time. A dime or dollar would help us out. I know everyone’s going through a hard time at the moment. Anything is appreciated, be it a penny or a dollar. Thank y'all . No one has to donate if they don’t want to or can’t, it’s okay! Hate will be blocked.

Yesterday (June 10th 2017), Toronto held its fifth March to Close All Slaughterhouses, along with dozens of other cities across five continents! Once again we had an incredible turnout with about 800 people participating!

As with the years before, we marched down all the major streets at the city’s core. We also did the die-in, where the activists laid down on the ground to symbolically represent the trillions of animals we tragically lose to the animal agriculture industry every single year, and to show solidarity. As we lay silent on the ground, screams recorded from dying animals inside actual slaughterhouses is broadcasted over a loud-speaker. Most likely, anyone passing by has never even seen the front of a slaughterhouse, let alone heard the horrific sounds that resound from inside; this is intentional on the part of the industry because, as Paul McCartney famously said, “if slaughterhouses had glass walls we would all be vegetarian”. This is one of the reasons for why the die-ins are such incredibly powerful demonstrations; they bring attention to the voices of those who are violently silenced. A newer addition to the march was the inclusion of a Direct Action Now disruption inside a “Whole Foods”, where some of the activists walked in and around the store while holding up their signs depicting the disturbing and heart-shattering reality that was the life of the animal whose flesh a customer is contemplating purchasing. These actions are called “disruptions” because they do precisely that, they disrupt the “normal” act of shopping for animal products, and in so doing, disrupt the speciesist mindset that allows for this shopping in the first place. Finally, towards the end of the march, a memorial was held for all the beautiful angels who have fallen victim to this incredibly cruel and violent system we have developed,.during which flowers and other items were symbolically laid beside pictures of a few of these lovely beings, who represented the plight of their entire species. All in all, it was an incredibly moving and powerful event, and we are CERTAIN that we planted seeds of compassion in many minds, and that at least one person will make a change in their lifestyle in order to show love, the love that we know each and every one of you has, even if it is currently buried deep inside, to all persons, whether animal or human.

Late in the night, on May 4th, individuals acting in the spirit of vengeance visited the home of Michael Fortier on Chester Avenue. Mr. Fortier was a federal cabinet minister under Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Today, he is the vice-chairman of capital markets at the Royal Bank of Canada. Tucked away in his big house in the Town of Mount-Royal (a wealthy Montreal neighborhood separated by a long wall from the poor and exploited), Mr. Fortier no doubt feels at ease with his employer’s decision to continue funding the Coastal GasLink pipeline (or any other disgusting project financed by RBC).

As glaciers melt and drought, fire and famine spread, Mr. Fortier may think that his money and connections will protect him, his children and his grandchildren. But the ecologically dispossessed will know the names of those responsible. He must understand that no one is safe amid this storm.

On the night in question, flames spread from an incendiary device to the engine block of his Jaguar, parked in front of his home.

This act is in solidarity with Wet’suwet’en land defenders and all those who fight the extractive industry.

On April 20th some anarchists on occupied Nisqually and Squaxin land took to the night, armed with a bottle of brake fluid and a can of expanding spray foam to carry out an act of solidarity with the ongoing resistance of Wet’su’weten land defenders and their supporters. The fight against CGL and its funders has been long and inspiring, and one that we feel needs to be more supported, especially through direct anarchist tactics.

The colonial project is ever expanding, and its allies and funders are in every neighborhood and on every street. These are our enemies, and the makers of artificial deserts. They must be attacked– by any means and at any given opportunity, no matter how big or small the enemy or the action may seem.

We do not expect this small action to stop the Leviathan and bring about healing to this near destroyed planet, but we hope to channel the spirits of this land, the lifeblood of all water, and the goblins of anarchy. We want to inspire destruction to all manifestations of colonial powers and institutions. We need it. The struggle on Wet’suwet’en territory is one that has explicitly called for and employed anarchist tactics, and we encourage you all to heed that call and support their actions through your own.

We fed the machine brake fluid, filled its mouths with spray foam. It was easy.

May Day is right around the corner. If you can’t get out to the yintah, we encourage you to fight where you stand.

Long live Anarchy! Long live Wet’suwet’en sovereignty! Long live the fight for Turtle Island!

Why We Need Grad Student Worker Unionization

One of several unionization efforts in the US right now is the movement to organize graduate student workers at universities. These laborers, who teach college classes and perform research that lends prestige to their institutions, tend to be paid appallingly low wages. The poverty-level paychecks are all the more unethical when you consider how university endowments have ballooned with the stock market in recent years, with many worth billions. Meanwhile, housing prices in college towns have surged, leaving student workers in a terrible predicament. This recent Guardian article provides further details.
