You… You basically just described First Gen Dragon Slayers in Fairy Tail. Like it’s literally “dragon adopts you, dragon raises you, somewhere along the way they teach you dragon powers”.
I would pay to see the Dragon Slayers knock Smaug down a peg. Or several.
