While I think it’s very fair to be concerned, TBH I’m not as worried about David and Catherine overshadowing Ncuti’s debut, as I don’t think the 60th is going to be “one” special.

In that press release the BBC says:

One of the most loved pairings in Doctor Who’s history have reunited and are filming scenes that are due to air in 2023 to coincide with the show’s 60th anniversary celebrations.

Note they don’t say the 60th anniversary special, but ‘celebrations’. Also ‘scenes’, though granted that might just be TV production talk. RTD also described “big” plans for 2023, which implies more than 14 simply debuting in a multi-Doctor special in November to me (though granted, this might be referring to other projects, in the same way The Five-ish Doctors RebootandAn Adventure in Space and Time were part of the 50th),

It seems possible to me that this is related to that one rumour of getting a bunch of past Doctor adventures as a series of specials through the year, although it looks now like it’ll be less past adventures and more a story arc involving past Doctors, possibly as part of or even after a series 14 proper? If this is the case, hopefully Ncuti will get at least a standalone episode to settle in, if not much more.

Considering this announcement came one week after 14′s, I also think it’s very likely we’ll get another announcement in one week’s time.
