Insect wings are incredible. Bird wings–while also amazing–seem so simple in comparison.
The way that earwigs can fold their wings up into such a tiny space is just…perfection.
A little art trade with my friend medievaan, she asked me to draw one of her oc if he was in Tale Of Bugs
So here is Oswald (her oc), a tarantula working with Thalis the earwig (my oc).

Normally I’m super brave, like a cowboy or a gangster. Normally if a bug comes near me I don’t even BOTHER to do a threat scan on it, because it’s a damn bug. Threat Level: Zero. Even if it’s the biggest baddest bug, all I have to do is put a glass upside down on top of it and the world is saved forever. But there’s just something about earwigs that makes me forget how to be a rational human being. I think if there was an earwig on my hand my first instinct would be to cut off the hand and then cry forever.

An absolutely gorgeous tropical earwig, couldn’t find a species name anywhere. Earwigs have always been some of my favorite insects, it’s really unfair how much people loathe them when they really can’t harm people at all, nor are they significant household or garden pests.
It’s Allodahlia scabriuscula! Beautiful earwig!
