Glide into the weekend with the sugar glider (Petaurus breviceps)!
This marsupial has a membrane, called the patagium, that spans its ankles to its wrists, and helps it drift between trees. The arboreal critter lives in parts of Australia, New Guinea, and Indonesia and comes out at night to look for treats like nectar, sap, lizards, and small birds.
Meet the gundi (Ctenodactylus gundi)! This wild rodent lives in northern Africa, where it makes its home in rocky outcrops, seeking shelter between crevices or beneath boulders. It has rounded, flat ears that are lined with hair, which helps to protect the inner ear from sand. When frightened by a predator, the gundi will lay on its side, stop breathing, and play dead.

Say “hello” to the gray mouse lemur (Microcebus murinus)! It’s one of the smallest primates alive today, with a body size of about 5 inches (13 centimeters) long and an average weight of 2 ounces (28 grams).
This critter is a member of the Microcebus genus, which consists of more than 20 other miniature-sized mouse lemur species! The arboreal animal lives in Madagascar and is nocturnal, spending most of its day resting in tree crevices and emerging at night to feed on plants, insects, or small invertebrates.
Say “hi” to the rhinoceros iguana (Cyclura cornuta)!
This large, heavy-bodied lizard can grow to be 4 feet (1.2 meters) long. As you might guess, its common name refers to the horn on its head, sported by both males and females. Bigger in males than females, horns may be useful in combat among males and in displays such as head-bobbing. This animal is found only on Hispaniola, the Caribbean island that’s home to Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Its diet consists of plants and insects, but it may occasionally feed on carrion.
It has a wide range that spans Central America to South America, including parts of Argentina and Brazil. Its name refers to its taste for bats, but the compact raptor also dines on the occasional bird or large insect. This bird of prey lives in tropical forest habitats, where it tends to nest in cavities on cliffs.
Can you see where the Fiery-billed Araçari (Pteroglossus frantzii) gets its name?
This bright-beaked bird lives in humid forests in Costa Rica and Panama, where it snacks on fruits, insects, and eggs. It might even eat the juveniles and eggs of pigeons or woodpeckers while also stealing the nest for itself.
Its time to learn some #FridayFacts about the #MalabarGiantSquirrel: 1. The Indian giant squirrel, or Malabar giant squirrel, (Ratufa indica) is a large tree squirrel species endemic to the forests of Peninsular India. 2. It is a diurnal and arboreal species. It is an upper-canopy dweller, which rarely leaves the trees and travels from tree to tree with jumps of up to 6 m (20 ft). 3. The Giant Squirrel is mostly active in the early hours of the morning and in the evening, resting in the midday. They are typically solitary animals that only come together for breeding. 4. When in danger, the Ratufa indica often freezes or flattens itself against the tree trunk, instead of fleeing.
I finally did it, guys! No, I still don’t have my #handstand, but I’m done with my career change journey and accepted an offer from Carvana! Starting June 14th, I am Software Engineer I! It took 1.5 years thanks to @lambdaschool #codingbootcamp! The entire journey put me in a roller coaster of emotions, and for once I finally feel like every thing in my life is in order. I have time to spend with my family, my friends, my husband, my passion, and now I’m financially independent to support them all! It took tears, episodes of stress induced vertigo, daily meditation, perseverance, and support from the hubby! Thanks to everyone who have already congratulated me! I finally feel complete, and I’m excited to be in the #techindustry! For anyone who is #jobhunting right now, be patient and take the time to learn what job hunting is teaching you! @rahkster . . . #disneyworld #orlando #florida #themepark #animalkingdom #avatar #pandora #flightofpassage #levelup #Inversions (at Disney World, Orlando) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPqmdrqnhTM/?utm_medium=tumblr
