The Batman; Drawn on Procreate, 2022

I took the default spray paint brushes from Procreate and created these minimal, super contrasted portraits based off of frames from “The Batman”. I used this brush because it was a change from something harsh, like the 6B pencil brush I usually use, and I think having softer lines makes things look more realistic. It also reflects the urban setting of the film to use a spray paint or graffiti-like style (as well as the film itself–There are several scenes where characters use spray paint). 
This was a really fun way to teach myself how light and shadow play across different materials, and how to replicate that light with one color. I also really like how one stroke of paint can suggest an entire article of clothing, out of focus. I really like how these turned out, even if red on black is kind of hard to see.

Anyway, I think I’m obsessed with this movie.
