Today, more human beings suffer enslavement than during the three and a half centuries of the transatlantic slave trade.
The International Labor Organization, a United Nations agency focused on labor rights, recently—and some would say conservatively—raised its worldwide estimate of the number of slaves from 12 million to nearly 21 million human beings, individuals unable to escape conditions of forced labor, bonded labor, slavery, and trafficking. Africa and the Asia-Pacific region together account for the largest number, close to 15 million people, but slavery is epidemic around the world and increasing.

One of the most likely slave-caught products that we consume is seafood from Southeast Asia. Last week, President Obama closed an 80 year loophole in the Tariff Act of 1930. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has also imposed stricter regulations to improve how seafood is tracked from catch to market.

Practicing BDSM often leads to SEVERE ABUSE: A mentally disabled teen girl was imprisoned, trafficked and tortured — for SIX YEARS — by a couple who pimped her out for profit to other sadists for their sick sexual pleasure.
First she was groomed with pornography, as is often the case with sexual abuse victims:
- “She described how the Bagleys initially showed her images and videos of people practicing bondage, dominance, sadism and masochism — or BDSM — and told her it was fun. She signed a contract on her 18th birthday that Bagley said made her his sex slave for life.”
Then she was imprisoned and tortured — sometimes for just for personal gratification, and sometimes being pimped out or turned into live pornography so others could take sexual pleasure in her suffering:
“The girl allegedly suffered water-boarding, electric shock, piercing and mutilation, according to the Kansas City Star.
Four other men have been charged for allegedly paying Bagley to have sex with his ‘slave’ and to watch webcam sessions of her being tortured.”
Clearly sadomasochism, pornography, prostitution and sex trafficking are all very closely related, and if one is against any one of them, one needs to take a stand against ALL of them.

I think there’a three things that need to happen to quit the Subtle Slavery™️ that is ocurring today
1. universal healthcare
people shouldn’t have to pay to be healthy
2. universal housing
people shouldn’t have to pay to have a home
3. free food and water
people shouldn’t have to write signs that say ‘JUST HUNGRY’ and stand with it on the streets, begging for money in order to eat or drink
otherwise people will be forced to work in order to survive, which is slavery.
