This senseless act of cruelty was captured in Dartmouth, Devon UK

The friendly mammal, given the affectionate nickname Windo by locals, first took up residence on the upturned craft in Dartmouth, Devon, on Friday, May 31, and became famous for waving at anyone who sailed close.

In an incident caught on camera June 3rd, the man rammed the upturned craft until it flipped over and Windo fell off before clambering back on. The man then continued to ram into the seal’s little boat, over and over again.

Local Andy Kyle said: ‘It seems that almost everybody loves Windo the Seal, and why not?’

‘He’s a charming chap who over the last six days has happily obliged by posing for pictures for all manner of inquisitive rubberneckers. But there’s always one, isn’t there.’

This is absolutely horrible. Windo did nothing but be friendly and even wave to passerbys, only to be senselessly attacked by a human. It breaks my heart to see him try to climb back onto his little boat that he can no longer lay on, and not understand why this was happening before the man rammed into the dinghy again and again. To senselessly attack an innocent animal is nothing short cruelty. I can only hope a kind soul out there flipped the craft over again for him (though Windo may be gone), and someone recognizes this awful man and tells the police (I wager this behavior is only the tip of the iceberg).  The Marine (Scotland) Conservation of Seals Act 2010 – Part 6 section 117 makes it an offence to intentionally or recklessly harass seals.

If you live in the UK and recognize this man (who may also own this boat and dog) please report him to the police.
