A lot of us were excited when we saw Osaka aquarium made a pillow filled with memory foam resembling Yuki, the chubby orb of a seal. However, many seal fans are being sent bootleg versions of her.
This is the official store to buy the plush at: https://www.felissimo.co.jp/youmore/gcd762792/

Felissimo is the ONLY official seller of this pillow. It costs ~$62 and their shipping is really high, which has had some buyers looking for cheaper versions on other sites.

There’s a reason it’s cheaper on other sites guys, it’s a bootleg. Someone unrelated the the aquarium looked at the plush and then made their own version of it, it’s not official merch, and it looks different. HOWEVER when it is being sold they use photos of the original plushto trick people into thinking they are buying the original.

This is what the bootleg looks like

  • The markings look different (much darker blacker sponge stamps, less detailed while the original resembles water color and has much more detail and variations of grey)
  • The nose is huge (the original takes up the top third of the seal’s head, this one takes up about half the face)
  • The proportions are wrong
  • It is an entirely different artist who made it; instead of making a pillow that looks like the seal they are trying to make a pillow that looks like a photo of another pillow and a lot of subtle details where the fabric should be tucked and folded to make her round, aren’t, making the pillow more flat.
  • It’s like when your mom said she got you the video game you really wanted and it was a tiger handheld version and you pretended you liked it

So how do you know before you buy if it’s a bootleg?

Are you buying it directly from Felissimo or a shipping service who will buy it directly from Felissimo? No? It’s a bootleg.
Is the price surprisingly low? Yes? It’s a bootleg.
Does it seem too good to be true? Yes it’s a bootleg?
Are you buying it off Ikiha, Aliexpress, or Amazon? Yes, it’s a bootleg.
But the picture looks official? It’s still a bootleg, they will not send you what is in the photo.

I’m not shaming people who bought the cheaper version knowing they weren’t getting the official version- I’m sending out an alert so people aren’t tricked into thinking they’re getting a deal and being disappointed when bee biter shows up in the mail.

If you have a moment could you vote for my contest entry? http://bit.ly/VoteForMyShirtDesignHere

It is for a charity seal rescue and rehabilitation center who are hosting a tshirt contest on facebook. The winner will have their design made into a real shirt and 100% of the profits will go to the charity. I spent a lot of time on my design and would appreciate it if you would vote for me, but it is your vote/like so if you find another you like better feel free to give them your support too.

This senseless act of cruelty was captured in Dartmouth, Devon UK

The friendly mammal, given the affectionate nickname Windo by locals, first took up residence on the upturned craft in Dartmouth, Devon, on Friday, May 31, and became famous for waving at anyone who sailed close.

In an incident caught on camera June 3rd, the man rammed the upturned craft until it flipped over and Windo fell off before clambering back on. The man then continued to ram into the seal’s little boat, over and over again.

Local Andy Kyle said: ‘It seems that almost everybody loves Windo the Seal, and why not?’

‘He’s a charming chap who over the last six days has happily obliged by posing for pictures for all manner of inquisitive rubberneckers. But there’s always one, isn’t there.’

This is absolutely horrible. Windo did nothing but be friendly and even wave to passerbys, only to be senselessly attacked by a human. It breaks my heart to see him try to climb back onto his little boat that he can no longer lay on, and not understand why this was happening before the man rammed into the dinghy again and again. To senselessly attack an innocent animal is nothing short cruelty. I can only hope a kind soul out there flipped the craft over again for him (though Windo may be gone), and someone recognizes this awful man and tells the police (I wager this behavior is only the tip of the iceberg).  The Marine (Scotland) Conservation of Seals Act 2010 – Part 6 section 117 makes it an offence to intentionally or recklessly harass seals.

If you live in the UK and recognize this man (who may also own this boat and dog) please report him to the police.

Channel Islands Marine & Wildlife Institute (CIMWI)
During the month of May 2019, Channel Islands Marine & Wildlife Institute (CIMWI), our all-volunteer nonprofit organization rescued 62 starving California sea lion pups and we are in a crisis situation providing medical and rehabilitation care for these animals. We continue to rescue more starving pups each day. We urgently need fish to fill our freezer so we can nurse these animals back to health and return them to the wild. Fish costs $1 a pound. Our goal is to raise $22,000.

CIMWI a 501©(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to positively impacting conservation through marine mammal rescue, rehabilitation, research and education to promote ocean and human health. CIMWI serves Santa Barbara & Ventura counties in Southern California.

They rescue elephant seal pups too. These babies were rehabilitated and released just two days ago!

If you can help donate, here is the link for CIMWI’s donation page

If you don’t have any funds to spare but can spread the word that is helpful too!
For more info on CIMWI please see their Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/CIMWI/ or their official page at http://cimwi.org
