@akaittou here’s your 2020 Exalted Secret Santas. I finished the first one early so I decided to do a second one as well. Yarona in particular was really fun to draw.

Character 1: Remedy (Abyssal Half-Caste)

Remedy is a conniving teenager out to have as much fun as possible, constantly escaping from under the watchful eye of her Abyssal sire.  Born blind, she is constantly accompanied by her zombie dog, Seun, who keeps her from running into the worst of troubles, despite Remedy’s taste for adventure.

Appearance: Remedy has pale, freckled skin, and pale blue eyes, and her dark hair falls in long ringlets, and has a stripe of white running through it on the left side of her face.  She tends to wear heavy woolen tunics, skirts and coats in varying shades of grey and violet, along with furs if she needs to travel outdoors, since she lives in the far North of Creation.  She is normally accompanied by Seun, who is a large, thin, and furry dog zombie with extra skeletal limbs and extra eyes surgically implanted along his body.

Character 2: Ardor of Agony (Midnight Caste, Abyssal Exalt)

Agony is the former Solar mate of a Lunar Sorcerer who gave up their bond in order to gain a greater understanding of his magic.  In her despair at being cast aside, she agreed to be turned by the Walker in Darkness, who tore out her right eye and kept it as a scrying device to make certain she never tried to return to her mate.  This didn’t work out in his favor, but Agony never truly betrayed her new master despite wanting to attempt to win her Lunar back.

Appearance: Agony is from Halta, but her time in the underworld has dulled her red skin to a very pale pink instead of its normal color.  She has long green hair that she keeps in a braid coiled around her missing eye and then down her back, and her remaining eye is also green.  She wears leathers in dark greens, greys and blacks, and uses razor claws when she has to fight.

Character 2: Specs (Changing Moon, Lunar Exalt)

Specs is an outgoing, vivacious Lunar who’s greatest goal is to make certain that every Exalt in Creation is a happy and well-rounded individual (despite the obvious complication that her motivation is, well, pretty much impossible).  She owns a hidden manse that she uses as a sort of Exalted resort for the Chosen of the Sun and the Moon to use as a respite between being chased by the dragon blooded and has some seriously disturbing ideas about how to convince Abyssal Exalts to leave their Deathlord masters.

Appearance: Specs is a fairly short, curvy lady with dark skin, white hair and large golden eyes.  Her tell is the dark heart-shaped mark on her face that mimics her totem, the spectacled owl.  She wears brightly colored clothing and copious amounts of jewelry. Her Lunar tattoos are kept invisible through charm use and do not appear normally.

While I love, love, love this trade every year, I haven’t actually played Exalted in a while. I haven’t got any new characters to submit, and I feel like I’ve kind of been putting for the same ones year after year, so I’m going to try something a little different, and do write-ups of characters I WANT to get the chance to play.  Since I don’t have references for characters who haven’t been in a game yet, hopefully it’s fun to do something that an artist can have a little more fun with?

Torch - Dawn Caste

Torch was a monster-hunting heroic mortal before she was chosen by the Unconquered Sun, and she’s seen no reason to stop hunting down the creatures of darkness who prey upon Creation now that’s she’s been Exalted.  Torch is a practitioner of Righteous Devil Style who travels around the deserts south of Chiaroscuro with her trusty flame pieces tucked into her sash and a flask in hand.  She cannot manage a warm smile to save her life, but she’s got a ‘sadistic grin’ down pat. Torch has red eyes, dark blonde hair that is tucked up in a complicated bun under her large brimmed hat, and tanned skin from the Southern climate. She wears layers of light-colored linen to keep the worst of the heat at bay, but dark tattoos depicting the silhouettes of demons and the other evils she works to vanquish can be seen at her collar bones and wrists.

Seaglass - Changing Moon Caste

Seaglass is a wandering cultivator of Western flora, traveling between ports and teaching island towns and villages beset by the encroaching Wyld how to best survive and grow the odd plants that crop up on beaches and in the shallower inlets of the West. She is warm and generous and is invested with helping mortals survive in difficult circumstances, but can’t seem to curb her wanderlust enough to settle down and protect a specific place. Her totem is a sea-dragon, and I don’t have a specific tell or style of tattoos in mind just yet, so feel free to go crazy. Seaglass has turquoise colored eyes, moon-pale skin and long red hair, that she wears in a practical ponytail. She dresses in clothing that is light and doesn’t impede swimming, and is never seen without at least one satchel or basket stuffed full of wyld-tainted plants. 

Symphony of Stolen Screams - Day Caste

Symphony is a deathknight in service to the Lover, though he’s hardly one of her favorites. His circlemates nicknamed him ‘phony’ precisely because he seems to do such a poor job of carrying out their Mistress’s plans, but he is not as inept as he acts. In fact, his failures are calculated to hide his motivations from his coworkers, and Symphony is a dedicated activist in private, wholly devoted to championing a better afterlife for the dead and departed, even if his deathlord might not approve of being undermined.  He refuses to wield any soulsteel, believing it cruel, and is a one-man highway robbery operation, an undead Robin Hood who steals from the living to pay for grave goods to offer up at the alters of the deceased. Symphony shares the pallid complexion of most deathknights, and has dark, curled hair that reaches his chin and bright blue eyes.  He dresses in grey and blue leathers to blend in with other travelers, and chooses most often to fight with small, poised needles or daggers instead of the large, gaudy weaponry of other Exalts.

Hello again, my friends!

This marks my 11th year hosting this exchange (4 on deviantArt and the rest on tumblr) and the 12th year of the exchange in total after @myrastuff hosted the first one. I’m always happy to see old faces back again, new faces for the first time, and to see everyone’s amazing art circulated so much during this month. If you would like to participate in the Exalted Secret Santa, here is what you need:

1) A working tumblr account. Making a one-off for this exchange specifically is totally cool if you’re not really a tumblr person. Please RSVP to me in a personal message, send me an ask, reply to this post, add your confirmation in reblog tags, etc. so I will know to add you to the list. If you submit under a new handle but have participated before (or if you want to submit under a different account than the one you use to confirm with; your art blog for example) please include which account you’ll be using for the exchange so I can pair you with a fresh new partner.

2) Post a journal to tumblr by December 1st containing the descriptions of at least two characters you would like drawn. Whether these are your own characters, ones belonging to your friends, canon characters, or alternate designs of the same single character is all fine, it’s just usually nice to provide the person drawing for you with more than one option. In this journal please provide all the physical and otherwise relevant details needed to draw the character, and always provide a reference picture if at all possible. (This journal from last year is a great template.)
In addition, if you have any strong squicks or phobias that might come up from a stranger drawing your character, please note that in the journal. (For example: “Eight Wicked Knives is a spider-totem Lunar, but please don’t draw her as an actual spider unless it’s very cartoony and non-realistic.”) Please make it as easy as possible for your gifter to draw your character.

You can post your journal as soon as I have confirmed you’re in. The sooner you post your journal, the more time your sender will have to draw for you! Get it up there quickly! Tag it with #exalted or #exalted secret santa so I can find it easily (or message me with a link to it). Once all the journals are up I will make a post compiling the links to them all, and send you a message through asks or the message system with the name of the person you’ll draw for.

2)Check your messages or ask box for your assignment. Let me know if you’re expecting to be unavailable for any major length of time in case your gifter needs any further details beyond the content of your journal. If you have an emergency that will render you unable to finish the trade (broken tablets, etc), let me know as soon as possible so I can arrange a pinch hitter.

3)Submit a piece of finished artwork by December 31st. (you will have 4 weeks to work on this. if you think you cannot make this due date, please do not enter the secret santa. It always sucks to be the one who doesn’t get a present or who gets it weeks after everyone else. do not do this to someone.) Tag your submission with the secret santa tag and with your giftee’s name if you want, or I can notify them it’s up. Once all of the gifts are posted I will compile them in a single post for posterity.

Let me know by December 1st and I will have your assignments to you within 24 hours if at all possible. Again, before you respond, please consider if you will have time for this trade during the busy holiday season and get back to me if you are sure. I haven’t actually played any new characters in Exalted since Remedy, since I’ve been playing Changeling instead, so I’m just reusing a couple of my favorites:
