Kimi ni Todoke is amazing because it’s literally the most optmistic shoujo I’ve ever read. It’s just so…tender, so sincere. In a way it is a lot like Sawako herself which makes it amazing for me! I also think she is autistic coded…Tee hee….Which endears her very much to me. Her struggles with friendship and fitting in are honestly the backbone of the manga and I think carry it a lot harder than the romance, but I also appreciate the fluttery, exciting feeling of the romance. I remember being very involved when I first read it as a child.
She’s so sincere and hardworking and she is also so very funny. Just remembering the little details of her character make me happy. Every victory she has in the series is so hard earned and rewarding like, she gets a phone number and you’re just YES GOD YES all the way with her. Very nice character for a very nice manga. Love her.
