BOSS // Spring 2017 Collection favourites
Although I’ve always been a fan of Boss, I absolutely loved this collection, with the bright colours, patterns and florals. The youthful feminine aesthetic of this collection is so well executed, especially with the cut outs and almost ‘beachwear’ styling. The use of cutouts, mesh and asymmetrical necklines was a consistent theme throughout the collection. The collection was quite varied and didn’t always maintain a strong central aesthetic (e.g colour pallet, hemline or formal level) with the inclusion of vacation wear along side power suits. But overall I loved the looks presented in this collection and I’m looking forward to seeing what boss comes out with next.

Blake Lively’s dress is an homage to New York City and the Statue of Liberty.
The draping represents the Statue of Liberty and the transition is a reference to the oxidation of the statue. The skirt is embroidered with the signs of the zodiac as an homage to the celestial painted ceiling of Grand Central Station. The bodice of her gown is a nod to the architecture of NYC, in particular, the Empire State Building. Her crown has seven tiers and 25 stones like Statue Liberty’s crown has seven rays and 25 windows.
