In my au, there’s a total of 4 Holy Grail Wars [HGW]

In this lore setting, Holy Grail Wars are used as summoning events for 7 Masters to summon a specific class of servant from Human History/Mythology. Once all summoned, every Master and Servant are allies to each other, all fighting WITH each other to go against the Holy Grail; a sentient omnipotent being that is trying to destroy the world and reshape humanity. 

It’s first appearance happened in 1810. 8 years later [1818], the Mage Association created this summoning event to stop its ravage power on people, marking this as the first HGW. HGW are used to try to set back the Grail and study it all at the same time. It can drop fragments, which can grant minor wishes for those that end up possessing it. The Mage Association proclaims that they will keep each fragment dropped from the Holy Grail to further study its potential power. 

After the first HGW, the Grail goes into a sleep status, convincing the Mage Association that it was defeated. 

141 years later, the Grail awakens again. It went into a deep sleep to regain energy that it lost while going against the first HGW. 

The 2nd HGW takes place in 1959. It was successful in pushing the Grail back to a sleep stasis.

Before the 3rd HGW [Fate/Zero], the Animusphere family creates an organization called Chaldea, under the guise that it will keep tabs on the Grail to further study and make the Mage Association aware if it were to awaken again. Chaldea was established in 1980.

4 years later, in 1984, The Grail comes back again. Only this time, things are different. 7 Masters are told of its wish granting power, and instead of fighting with each other, they fight against each other. All so one could come out on top and get the chance to get their wish granted. It was this selfishness and greed that pushed back the efforts of centuries. The families involved were all but disowned by the Mage Association for going against the best efforts of humanity. This 3rd HGW takes place in Japan within a city called Fuyuki City. It is here the events of Fate/Zero take place, albeit loosely. This is also the HGW in which Marisbury Animusphere enters half-way through the war with Caster King Solomon. They are not there to fight, but are simple mediators to try to discourage the fighting against each other. This doesn’t settle well with the rest of the participants, and they are consistently targeted. By the end of this HGW, several fragments were dropped by the Grail. It was one of these fragments that Solomon got his wish granted; to become Human. More on this later.

After the catastrophic HGW, in which the Grail is at its strongest yet, it destroys half of Fuyuki City in an attempt to rid of the remaining Masters and Servants. By this point, it goes back into a sleep stasis, but its mana energy readings are so high, its likely that it won’t take long for it to reappear. 

The 4th and last HGW takes place in 1994. This is the HGW in which Fate/Stay Night events take place, specifically the Unlimited Blade Works route. For reference, Shirou is 17 years old going on 18 when he is forced into this HGW.

Recovering from the last HGW, this HGW is pushed to be the same as the first two. It takes strong effort, but Artoria is able to convince much of the Masters/Servants that fighting each other isn’t the right way. Be aware at this point, Artoria has been a staff member at Chaldea for the last 7 years and was present for the previous grail war as well. She’s ‘summoned’ again because Shirou needed her help during the prologue of FSN so she contracts with him to protect him. 

Some notes to consider:

• Artoria is not Dead. She is an immortal dragon that took on the role of King Arthur several centuries ago. She can be “summoned” under the circumstances of the King Arthur Legend, but her use of power is weak with Masters. She can also choose not to completely listen.
• Romani Archaman’s wish was granted under the guise that he would come back as a fully fledge adult. He would first appear as an 18 year old in 1993. By the time of FGO’s events in 2018, he is 43. He spent 5 years traveling the world and studying and dedicated 20 years at Chaldea. He lived 25 years, not 10.
• Mash was born in 2000, whereas the Guda twins were born in 1999.

In my au, Holy Grail Wars are used as a summoning events for Masters to summon Heroic Spirits to fight against the sentient Holy Grail. The first 3 wars were successful, but during the events of which Fate/Zero takes place, the 7 Masters have grown selfish and want to use the grail for their own reasons and are fighting each other instead of being allies. Chaldea, which was already established in the 1980s and was nothing more than a research center to study the Grail grew aware of this. To try to prevent the fighting, Marisbury Animusphere entered the war with a Caster class servant, King Solomon. Solomon does not fight, he’s used to prevent the bloodshed amongst each Master/Servant. This is how Solomon’s presence is first established in my AU’s lore timeline.
