Many of the Barcelona girls were away on international duty while the rest were having a small break, so you decided it was the best time for you to go and visit some of the Arsenal girls back home. You finished your last session with the girls left behind and headed straight for the airport.
You had only told Jordan Nobbs that you were planning on coming over so when you asked if she could pick you up from the airport you didn’t expect to find yourself squished in the back seat between Vivianne Miedema and Katie McCabe, Beth Mead residing in the passenger seat.
I had this idea a little while ago and created this. I hope you all enjoy
“Hey Y/n! Wait up!” You turned to see Leila, Mapi, and Jenni jogging your way. You weren’t sure what to say so you waved awkwardly at the trio. You were still new to the team (only being there for a month), and you didn’t talk much. Despite you being an absolutely dominating presence on the field, rivaling La Reina herself, you were really rather awkward and shy in person.
I wrote this in a way that you won’t know who it’s for until half way through so I don’t want to spoil that by putting it in the title So you will just have to read and find out
You had finished your WSL season just yesterday with Arsenal football club, your team had only lost one game all season at yet still came second in the league. But all thoughts of that fell from your head as soon as you boarded your flight, you had somewhere more important to be.
You grabbed your bag from the carousel and pulled your cap more firmly over your head, you hoped the women who was meant to be picking you up saw your text in time. As you stepped out into the warm Spanish sun you noticed the brown hair of one of your best friends leaning against her car.

“Hey babe” you wrap your arms around your girlfriend alexia’s waist from behind.
Alexia spin’s around, placing a gentle and quick kiss on your lips, grasping your hands and moving them off her waist, not wanting to overdo the public displays of affection in front of your teammates.
“Hi baby, did you have a good night?” Alexia asks, knowing that you and a few other team members went out for drinks.
“The best, I basically danced all night, you should have been there though” you whine, not quite mentioning all the other things you did that Alexia likely wouldn’t have agreed with.
“I’m glad you had fun, it was defender bonding night and i’m not trying to get in the way of things like that just because we are dating” Alexia explains, she takes the team very seriously and even though she is in love with you, in her mind the team comes first.
“Babe barely, it was just Mapi, Leila, Jana and I hanging out and anyway Patri and Aitana both ended up coming as well so you really wouldn’t have been coming in between any bonding” you respond.
You admire how serious Alexia is about the team but sometimes you wish that she would let go a little bit and just be more affectionate or have a bit more fun even when you are at training or doing team activities.
“It’s done now, let’s not worry about it, instead you need to get ready for training otherwise you’ll be late and the captain will have to punish you” Alexia informs you.
“I’m sure the captain wouldn’t do that” you reply slyly, attempting to kiss Alexia’s neck.
“Come on (Y/N/N), not here” Alexia groans, the girl never letting her guard down at training.
Rather than responding you instead just walk off, while you know this is how Alexia is it definitely does annoy you sometimes that you can’t have fun with her unless no one else is around.

You run around the pitch in an attempt to get away from Mapi who is chasing you, the ordeal started when you claimed you could beat Mapi at juggling and won.
“I’ve got you” Mapi whispers into your ear as she grabs you from behind, lifting you into the air. While loud giggles escape your lips Mapi runs around holding onto you tightly.
“Mapi let me down!” you scream, joy emanating from your voice.
Mapi does as she is asked, letting you back to the ground, instead of completely letting you go though she holds onto you tightly, the two of you hugging for an extended period.
“Can you let go of me now?” you ask, your head pressed against Mapi’s chest as she continues to hug you, mainly due to her strong grip.
“What if I don’t want to?” Mapi challenges.
“You’ll have to carry me back to the locker room” you challenge, wrapping your arms around Mapi’s neck.
“That could be arranged ” Mapi responds slyly, lifting you up again, signalling for you to wrap your legs around her waist, once you do Mapi begins to make her way off the training pitch, you clinging to her like a koala.
“Have (Y/N) and Alexia broken up?” Patri asks Leila, knowing that she would likely be the only one of them to know if that had occurred.
“Not from what I know, they seemed to be together this morning when they were hugging and kissing in the locker room” Leila responds.
“Wait what? You got to see them hug and kiss? I barely get to see them talk to each other” Patri groans, annoyed that she missed her favourite couple on the rare occasion that they showed affection.
“Benefits of coming in early” Leila laughs, “anyway why did you ask?” she wonders.
“Because look at (Y/N) and Mapi” Patri discreetly points at you two, Mapi has stopped walking but you are still clinging onto her for dear life, you two are face to face, essentially inches apart, you’re giggling while Mapi looks at you like nobody else in the world could ever compare.

“No you should tell her, you are the one who brought it up” Aitana informs Patri, the two of them in the middle of a very heated conversation when Alexia walks past causing both of them to immediately go quiet.
“Who are we keeping secrets from girls?” Alexia asks, she will say she meant it as a joke but there was not anything at all in her body language, nor tone that indicated that it is.
The two girls stand awkwardly, not knowing what to say, Patri quickly jumps onto a lie “Leila has food in her teeth”
“Leila” Alexia calls her over, wanting to help out the two younger girls.
Leila makes her way over, “open your mouth” Lelia has a questioning look on her face but does it anyway.
“All good” Alexia smiles, seeing nothing in her teeth, she turns back to the two, a questioning look now on her face.
“So you want the truth now?” Aitana asks, knowing that their captain will not let them off so easily.
“Preferably” Alexia responds.
“Um well some of the the team has been talking about how it kind of seems like (Y/N) and Mapi have something going on, it’s seems kinda like they have feelings for eachother” Aitana informs Alexia.
“Come on guys, that’s ridiculous” Alexia laughs loudly, in her mind there is no way that her girlfriend of five years could have a crush on her best friend.
“We aren’t trying to start anything Lex but we thought that at first too. Once you start noticing how they interact it really does seem like she’s all in on Mapi, and I guess the fact that you two don’t really do PDA doesn’t help either” Patri explains.
“Oh, well thanks for telling me guys, I guess I’ll have to keep an eye out because I haven’t noticed anything but friendly behaviour from them” Alexia walks away, deep in thought about the conversation that just occurred.

“Cuddle buddy” Mapi speaks as she pulls you onto her lap. The team are having a movie night and as usual you and Mapi are acting closer than you probably should.
You get comfortable on Mapi’s lap, wrapping your arms around her neck and turning your focus to the screen which will soon display the movie.
Across the room Alexia glares at you and Mapi, once being informed of the behaviour of you two she began to keep an eye on how you interact. Even in the short period that she has been observing you she definitely understands where her teammates are coming from as she would assume that the two of you are a happy couple from the way you act together.
“Are you starting to see it?” Patri asks, sitting next to Alexia.
“Yeah, are they always like this?” Alexia questions.
“Basically yeah” Patri shrugs, she feels bad but there’s not much else she can do, it isn’t her relationship and she isn’t trying to interject and cause problems where there may not be any.
“I don’t know how I didn’t realise before” Alexia sighs, as she does a loud giggle is heard across the room.
The two look over noticing that Mapi is licking your cheek causing you to giggle loudly hitting Mapi playfully attempting to get her to stop.
“I don’t want to overstep but, Lex everyday it looks more and more like you are losing your girl, look at how they look at each other” Patri explains.
Mapi is staring intently at you, a certain longing in her eyes, she holds onto your waist tightly as you still have your arms securely wrapped around Mapi’s neck. You are staring back at Mapi an aura of happiness surrounding you as you and Mapi speak to each other like you are the only two people in the room.
“She doesn’t look at me like that does she?” Alexia sighs in defeat, nothing can be confirmed until she speaks with you but at the moment it definitely does seem like her girlfriend is in love with her best friend, or that you are at least developing feelings for her.
“I can’t say for sure, you two are very private with your relationship, most of us barely even see you guys interact. but I mean in front of the team it definitely looks more like Mapi is her girlfriend, right now it could be you holding her in your lap but she’s over there with Mapi, it just doesn’t seem right seeing as everyone knows that the two of you are together you know?” Patri explains, she has thrown all caution to the wind, since Alexia is now opening her eyes to the way you are behaving, Patri may as well inform her of how she sees the relationship and what her opinion is.
“I think that may be partly my fault” Alexia sighs knowing that you are an extremely physically intimate person and that you try to to initiate physical contact with Alexia around you teammates but Alexia won’t let you due to the idea in her mind that she won’t be respected as a leader if she does.
“Hey, no! Do not blame yourself because your girlfriend is going around acting cosy with other girls, that is not your fault” Patri defends Alexia to herself, assuming that Alexia feels like the potential cheating is her fault.
“No Patri that isn’t, but the lack of affection she gives me in front of the team is, i’m always pushing her away or asking her not to be so physical because i don’t want anyone to think i’m favouring her or not doing my part as the team captain” Alexia explains.
“Oh” is all Patri replies.

“Hey baby?” Alexia asks as the two of you are laying together on Alexia’s couch, a random football match that neither of you are particularly interested in plays in the background.
“Hmm?” you lift your head off Alexia’s stomach where you had been comfortably laying, almost falling asleep due to the lovely head scratches you had been receiving.
“I need to ask you something, and it’s going to sound bad but we really need to talk about this” Alexia sighs, she doesn’t even want to think about it but the comments from her teammates have been stuck in her head.
“Yeah what’s up?” you sit up a little more, a nervous pit forming in your stomach as you don’t know what to expect.
“You’d tell me if you wanted to break up right?” insecurity is clear in her voice, you are taken aback, not just by the question but also by how unsure of herself Alexia sounds in this moment.
“Where is this coming from?” you reply sweetly, although the reply probably wasn’t the best as it doesn’t stop Alexia’s spiralling negative thoughts.
“Could you just answer the question? then we can talk about it further” Alexia has a harshness in her voice.
you scratch the back of your neck, sitting up further. You clear your throat, a sudden awkwardness filling the room.
“Of course I would tell you if I wanted to break up with you, I could never continue to be in a relationship where I do not fully reciprocate the feelings. but I want this so bad, alexia I’ve loved you since we were little kids who could barely kick a ball around and now I’m here living my life’s dream doing the thing I love most in the world with the first and only woman I will ever be in love with” your response causes Alexia to wonder why she ever doubted the relationship in the first place. “Now can you tell me where that came from?” you ask, kissing Alexia’s nose, making yourself comfortable between your girlfriend’s legs again.
“Some of the girls mentioned that you might be developing feelings for Mapi, I didn’t really believe them at first but you are just so happy around her and you guys are so physical with each other, always touching and such. The more I watched you two the more it definitely did seem like there could be something there and I’m not accusing you of anything I just wanted to be sure that it isn’t what it seems” Alexia explains.
“Oh babe” you speak sympathetically, “I can see why people would think that I guess but that’s just the friendship Mapi and I have always had and I think that because everyone knows we are together but we aren’t very physical it could seem like I’m more into her than I am you. but I love you so much and I’d love to be physical like that with you but I know how serious you are about the team and that that affection in front of the team makes you uncomfortable so that’s why I save it for when it’s just us, like now” you pull Alexia in to a heated kiss, wanting to show your girlfriend that is truly is her that you love and want to be with, not your best friend.
“Well I guess it wouldn’t hurt to be a bit more affectionate in front of the team” Alexia states, making you beam with joy.
“Really Lex? we don’t have to” you attempt to hide your excitement.
“You look like you’re ready to call a team meeting just to show us making out, I don’t think I can take it back now even if I wanted to” Alexia laughs, as your smile doesn’t falter.
“You are correct, I need everyone to know that you are mine and I am yours”
“Yeah especially a certain someone” Alexia mutters, referring to her best friend who had been more than making herself cosy with her girlfriend.
“What was that lex?” you giggle, knowing that Alexia was referring to Mapi.
“I can’t wait to show off that you’re mine” Alexia responds, pulling you in for a kiss in hopes that the conversation will not revert back to Mapi and the very real possibility that she is in love with you.

“Alba!” you yell once you spot your older cousin sitting in the stands.
“Mi prima pequeña” Alba jumps up from her seat pulling you into a forcefully tight hug, “you are never allowed to leave the country again” she informs you, still holding onto you.
“I don’t think I want to, I can’t handle the cold” you shiver remembering the freezing nights you spent tossing and turning in an attempt to warm yourself to no avail while in Sweden.
“Did you at least find a hot Swedish girlfriend?” Alba asks, laughing as you look at her with a look of disapproval.
“What? only hook ups? That’s my girl!” Alba speaks proudly.
“I didn’t hook up with anyone and I definitely didn’t get a Swedish girlfriend” you sigh in annoyance at your older cousin’s antics.
“Come on (Y/N) the Swedes are an attractive bunch, as if you didn’t even kiss at least one?”
“If you think the Swedes are so hot you move there and get a girlfriend” you huff, although you can’t help but laugh at the end of your sentence, knowing that Alba exclusively dates Alexia’s teammates so her dating anyone else would be highly unlikely.
“No need to move to Sweden. I’m working on that one” Alba points you in the direction of Fridolina.
“Really?” you question with a laugh, not really surprised that she is working on dating another of Alexia’s teammates.
“She isn’t gay from what I know”
“When did that ever stop you before?” you laugh, Alba’s stories of helping ‘straight’ girls explore their sexuality being a staple conversation piece at your family events.
“It hasn’t and it won’t now, don’t be surprised when we start dating” Alba informs you with a cheeky smile.
“Oh I won’t be” you shake your head, moving your head to focus on the pitch, ready to watch the game that is about to begin.

As the game comes to an end you cheer excitedly, always happy to watch your cousin play but even more happy when she is able to win.
Alexia spots Alba in the crowd, having expected her to be there but when she notices you sitting next to her she is absolutely shocked. You weren’t supposed to be home for around another month and to say your oldest cousin had been missing you was an understatement.
“Mi dulce primo bebé” Alexia hugs you tightly.
“Holi Lexi” you reply, a sweet giggle escaping your lips as she ruffles your hair due to the nickname that only you are allowed to call her.
“You are never leaving the country again, you hear me?” she speaks sternly.
“I already told her that and found out that she didn’t even get a hot Swedish girlfriend or hook up with anyone” Alba informs her older sister, earning her a slap up the side of her head.
“You are such a bad influence, and no girlfriends for you until you are older” Alexia informs you, the smile on her face indicating that she is partially joking but you know as her baby cousin that she most definitely isn’t.
“I am older though, I’m not a baby anymore” you whine, this causes Alba to laugh at the fact that you are acting like a baby and Alexia to give what could only be described as the look a mother gives their toddler when they are about to do something wrong.
“Fine” you sigh, “no girlfriends until I’m older”

“Who is that with Alexia?” Jana asks Jenni, not be able to take her eyes off you as you continue catching up with your two cousins.
“That is Alexia’s cousin, (Y/N). She must have just come home, she was studying in Sweden” Jenni answers absentmindedly. “Why?” she snaps out of her daze when she realises that Jana is asking about you.
“She is the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen” Jana answers in some sort of daze herself, obviously experiencing some type of love at first sight type of feelings.
“Come with me, I want to see her anyway” Jenni pulls Jana along, not allowing time for arguments even though there is none from the young defender.
“(Y/N)!” Jenni yells as she approaches you, catching your attention quite easily with how loud she yells.
“Jenni!” you giggle pulling her into a hug when she reaches you.
“Who is this?” you ask, pointing at Jana, who is standing quietly.
Jenni nudges Jana harshly which forces a yelp of pain out of her lips.
While that is happening Alexia takes it upon herself to introduce the player to you, “that is my teammate Jana, she isn’t too much older than you”
“Well nice to meet you Jana” you hold out your hand, waiting for her to shake yours, not wanting to be too forward as to hug her immediately.
Clearly Jana has other ideas though as she does pull you into a hug, “it’s nice to meet you (Y/N), I hope to see more of you?” she speaks in a questioning tone.
“Yeah I’m back in Barcelona for good so you’ll probably see me at a few games” you inform her, a redness covering your cheeks at both the hug and her mentioning wanting to see you more.
“Great I can’t wait” she responds quickly, turning away letting the blush take over her cheeks.
“So (Y/N), no Swedish girlfriend but you will have a Spanish one in no time” Alba teases, “I always knew you would take after me” she holds her hands over her heart, a look of pride on her face.
“Please do not follow in Alba’s footsteps” Alexia tells you, her stern looks scaring you slightly.
“No dating until I’m older” you throw your hands in the air, claiming innocence as the girls around you giggle at how easily you listen to what Alexia tells you to do.
