Last week at Oxford, and we had some more wonderful archaeology. I was digging what I believe to be a pit with a fill of burnt deposit, on top of which they chucked in this enormous stone - the corn dryer is not too far away so maybe it’s left over from construction? Got some lovely pottery out of it, quite fine so maybe early Roman? We’ve got all these lovely intercutting ditches, quite probably field boundaries. The chaps dug more of the well, and the red kites were flying so low over site! I’m going to miss this site.
