This is an illustration of the tarot card Nine of Swords.

From Wikipedia: “If this card is shown in an upright position, it can mean deception, premonitions and bad dreams, suffering and depression, cruelty, disappointment, violence, loss and scandal. However, all of these may be overcome through faith and calculated inaction. This is the card of the martyr and with it comes new life out of suffering.

If the card is shown in an ill-dignified or reversed manner then it has a different meaning. When turned this way it means distrust, suspicion, despair, misery or malice. Total isolation away from comfort and help: institutionalization, suicide, imprisonment and isolation.”

I knew from the start, I wanted to call this one “Channeling” bc she is communicating telepathically with both her friend and the earth with the aid of these orbs that speckle the landscape of this world. Then I found this quote that I thought fit it beautifully. “Channeling is a natural form of communication between humans and angelic beings, nature spirits, non-physical entities, or even animals and pets. This is my latest watercolor based on that idea.”

This is watercolor and is 7" x 11.5"

She respects these creatures. She sees a certain beauty in them, but their murderous ways have brought them too close to her village, they have overstepped their bounds and what needs to happen is unfortunate, but necessary.

“The Muse loves you, but she’s nobody’s fool and she’s tired of waiting for you to get started…”

I painted this for a group project last year.  The project didn’t quite come together, but the piece is one of my favorites from 2016.
