Spoilers for this week’s episode of the Flash!

So there are two Eobards existing right now, one depowered and evil in prison (Tom Cavanagh) and one depowered and good (Matt Letscher).  Remember the way that Legends arc just kind of petered out into an anticlimax of time protector Eobard’s death?  It’s brought up again, and speculated that the Time Wraiths saved him after he was stabbed, apparently setting him free to live his own life.  Which he did, forming a scientific partnership and then a romantic relationship with Meena Dhawan despite his amnesia problems.  Together, they created an artificial speed source, which neither knew actually tapped into the Negative Speed Force.  Eobard did this because he felt destined to be a speedster and wanted to save the world, but he sacrificed his own dreams to save Meena with it when she had a fatal heart attack.  And then unfortunately it made her evil, so he begs Barry to save her.

But, all’s well that ends well, since he’s able to snap her out of it.  And Barry speculates that its influence can be circumvented with a few tweaks and the fact that Eobard is clearly her lightning rod to keep her centred and stable.  I guess they’re going to appear next episode too because I saw the briefest of snippets of that before the cable cut to a different show – it does that every week on my station, it’s very annoying.

And someone’s boosted Cecile’s empathic powers into Rainbow Raider-like emotional manipulation, and it looks like the guilty party is Rosa Dillon, although it’s not entirely clear.  Whoever it is, they’re watching as Cecile goes out on her own to hurt criminals, which of course is very unlike Cecile.  It seems that Rosa (or whoever) has influenced her in ways beyond boosting her powers.  If it is Rosa, she’s almost certainly pissed about what happened to her last time they met, even though it was her own fault.

Plus Chillblaine thinks he can bring Frost back from the dead even though Barry destroyed Caitlin’s work a couple of episodes ago – an extremely dick move, by the way, and it’s frustrating that he really isn’t getting much grief for it.  Personally, I’d never forgive him for the way he handled it.

And finally, evil angry Eobard is still stuck in ARGUS’ prison on Lian Yu, but we all know he’d probably get out soon because Barry keeps foolishly giving him information that’d undoubtedly garner him an escape.  Even John Diggle gets in on the giving-Eobard-an-easy-out with a struggle to open his Lantern ring, but eventually he chooses his family over the ring and snatches away Eobard’s opportunity.  But after all his frustrations this episode, Deon – the avatar of the Still Force – shows up and tells him that the light of the ring showed “us” where to find him, and says it’s time for Eobard to fulfill his destiny.  He obviously likes the sound of that.
