South Carolina becomes the latest state to enact a transgender sports ban

This is such an unsurprising move, and on International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia too. Well played.

I would love to see major protest against this from popular teams and athletes in this state, but the truth is that this is widely supported here, and no one outside of the trans community and a few allies will speak against it.

I am so sorry for our trans youth here. It’s already horrible and isolating to grow up trans here, and now our governor has used his power to further marginalize trans kids. Our state government has put a target on the backs of trans youth. This will cost lives–and they don’t care, because that is the goal, not an unintended consequence.
