A poster for the Montreal - Fun-A-Day - Show'N'Tell!
Not that anyone is keeping track, but my Fun-A-Day project for 2013 failed to meet its goals (drawing double portraits of a queer person for every day in January) and in an attempt to compensate for that I drew a very elaborate poster for the Fun-a-Day event.
There are 31 people if you include the 3 cats and the little doodle monster Raph drew in the last frame. I know over half the people in the drawings and that they were going to do projects for fun-a-day, but the rest are people I saw in Frankie’s Karaoke project or People who said they were going to do projects on the Fun-A-Day facebook wall. But then i ran out of people to make it to 31. So the last frame are self portraits based on my 2012 project, Amazon Seeks Affection.

Hi, this is Morgan Sea. I’m a trans lady, an artist, an anglophone, a white person, and a bunch of other things too. I have been on tumblr for a year and a half, mostly using my MorganSea.Tumblr, where I post alot of my art, queer art, comics, cats, mermaids and other stuff i find re-blog-able and it’s been nice. I thought I should maybe make a space dedicated to my drawings and maybe other art.
When I was younger I really wanted to draw comics for a living…. and then i went to art school and quit drawing for like… 5 years. Since graduating, I’ve been drawing a bit, but I’m not really impressed by my skills. It’s sort of aggravating, cause i know the only way to get better is to practice but early results can be discouraging.
So enter Fun-A-Day, an annual event created by the Art Clash collective in Philly. Basically you chose a project and then do it every day of january, and in february, display your work or documents or whatever in a local fun-a-day show.
Last year I did a project where everyday I would document myself hugging a friend, family member, and a couple consenting strangers. You can see it here at Amazon Seeks Affection. But this year, in an effort to both socialize and make myself practice drawing, I’m gonna be drawing people I like, hopefully live in person, maybe over skype, maybe with photographs. I’m keeping it real loose.
