Stubborn

(Gally x Reader)

Requested by @mastersurf Not sure if this qualifies as angst but writing this almost felt like it sorta might? Maybe? Just a little, nothing gut-wrenching lol Enjoy!

If only you had been a little more intuitive. If only you had remembered how bad he was at leaving things alone. You shouldn’t have listened to him when he told you to go get lunch without him and that he would catch up. You should’ve dragged him with you, refused to leave until you were sure he wasn’t going to do anything dangerous.

Maybe then you could’ve stopped it from happening. But you didn’t.

It was barely twenty minutes into lunch break when the deafening sound of a collapsing shack echoed throughout the glade. That was the second you felt your heart nearly burst out of your body.

Your feet couldn’t carry you nearly fast enough as you dashed over to the epicenter of the dreadful sound. You had expected to find the builders hurdled around what remained of the old, worn-down storage shack that everyone had long given up on trying to repair. But when you got there, you couldn’t find a single person.

While you were incredibly relieved that your boyfriend wasn’t there and didn’t need to be dug out from under the wooden wreckage, it was too soon to relax. The very thought made your fingers turn ice-cold, but there was no way he could’ve gotten out of this unscathed.

There seemed to be only one place he could possibly be now. The Med Hut.

With a deep groan and a hammering heart, you headed over to the medjacks. You were worried out of your mind for him, you had no idea how bad his injuries could be. But at the same time you felt so… so… angry.

That shack was a lost cause. The water damage from a particularly rainy week that had passed in the glade not that long ago was too severe. The wood had rotted, it was weak and easily breakable. Gally wasn’t supposed to go in there anymore, nobody was. It was beyond saving, doomed to collapse at any given moment, and you were going to let it. You and Gally had made that decision days ago. It had been agreed upon.

Yet, apparently, he had changed his mind.

Your thoughts raced - this was unbelievable. What did he think he could’ve done? Why would he go in there when he knew damn well how frail the thing was? He was always the one to put safety first, so why would he willingly put his own at such a risk? You didn’t have answers to any of those questions but you were determined to get them.

A stinging mixture of fear and fury flourished in your veins as you barged into the Med Hut, your eyes searching, frantically, for your boyfriend.

And there he was.

Sitting up right on the side of a cot as Jeff tended to the open cut on his cheekbone. It didn’t look like he had any broken bones that needed to be taken care of first, so that was a good sign, at least.

Gally’s eyes widened at your rapid entrance as he involuntarily jerked away from the medjack.

The baffled look on your face told him everything he was about to hear from you. His muscles tensed up with dread as he watched your features morph from concern to anger.

Your lips quivered, your breath leaving you in jagged pants as your gaze burned into him.

“What were you thinking?!”

You took a moment to perceive the state of him. Besides his arms being littered in scratches, a bit of blood on the corner of his mouth and the cut on his face, he looked perfectly fine. It was a relief for sure. Now you didn’t have to feel so bad about yelling at him.

“WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!” You demanded, taking a harsh step towards him as Jeff promptly stumbled out of the way before slipping out of the hut entirely, having decoded that as his cue to give you two a moment alone.

Gally shot up from the cot and though he remained still and silent, it almost looked like he was about to take a step back. His jaw clenched as he searched his mind for the right words, despite knowing there weren’t any.

“I thought I could find a way to fix it.”

“There was no fixing it, Gally! YOU KNEW THERE WASN’T! It was living out its FINAL shucking days!” You shouted, your limbs beginning to tremble as you tried, futilely, to subdue wave after wave of bubbling anger.

Gally frowned, deeply, his mouth clamping shut as he let you lash out at him. Something that was only possible with you. Other people’s displeasure had very little effect on him, if any at all. Yours, however, was a very different story. You were his girl.

His muscular arms crossed over his chest as he looked away from your penetrating glare, the foreign feeling of being backed into a corner permeating his strong bones.

“You said you were going to leave it alone! YOU PROMISED!“ Your voice was on the verge of cracking as you stepped even closer towards him, hot tears already prickling at the corners of your eyes “You could’ve been hurt, SO much worse than this!“

Your breath faltered, your chest tightening as you felt an impending sob creeping up “You could’ve… Y-You could’ve…”

Your words died in your throat as you recoiled from him. Shudders began to overtake your body as you buried your face in your palms, your tears finally spilling over.

How could he have been so careless? The hell were you supposed to do if something happened to him? You loved him, the mere thought of him getting hurt was enough to make your heart rip to shreds.

Gally watched, solemnly, as your delicate shoulders shook, quiet sobs escaping your mouth. Every inch of him wanted to rush over to you, wanted to touch you, but didn’t know if you’d allow it. He hated seeing you cry and knowing he was the reason made it a thousand times more painful.

He knew he shouldn’t have gone in there. It was a dumb impulse, a momentary lapse of judgement, and he was lucky to not have attained any serious injuries. If you had attempted to do the same thing, he would’ve probably lost his mind.

A few moments passed before your sobs gradually started growing quieter and only then did Gally finally bring himself to move.

Slowly, carefully, he got closer until he was right in front of your still slightly trembling form.

Though you couldn’t see how close he was, you soon felt it as his large calloused hands gently pried your palms away from your tear-streaked face.

“I’m sorry…”

His soft whisper reached your ears as you sniffled, meagerly. His grip on your wrists tightened ever so slightly, his head lowering until his forehead was pressed against yours.

“I’m sorry, Y/N…” Gally repeated on half a breath, your bloodshot eyes at last fluttering open as you met his wistful gaze.

A part of you wanted to stay angry at him, to pull away, leave and make him really comprehend how badly he’d screwed up. However, the bigger part of you, the one that could see every little flicker of his genuine emotion in a way nobody else could, believed that he already knew.

With one last choked whimper, you flung yourself into Gally’s arms, immediately feeling him encase you in a grip as tight as he could manage without crushing you. His warm breath washed over your neck, tickling your skin as you clung to him, relishing the fact that he was okay. He was okay, he was right there, fully conscious and mostly unharmed.

You shook your head as he threaded his fingers through your hair in a soothing motion, cradling your head against his strong, broad chest.

“Why are you… so… stubborn?” Your exasperated whisper was muffled against the fabric of his shirt, but he heard it, audibly.

The builder exhaled, heavily, as his lips brushed against your temple “Can’t always help it, baby.” He slightly drew back, attempting to meet your gaze “Hey…”

You looked up, finding his bluish-green eyes brimming with sincerity, staring into yours.

“It won’t happen again. I promise. Just please don’t shucking cry…” Gally breathed, pulling you closer into his warm embrace that felt like the only place you could stay wrapped up in for the rest of time.

Your hands clutched onto his shoulders as you buried your face in the crook of his neck, feeling his heart beating, serenely and steadily, against your own. “It better not.” - your mind echoed while all lingering tension gradually melted away from your body.

You knew he would keep his word this time. Gally wasn’t one for recklessness, and if he needed to be reminded why taking unnecessary risks was a bad idea, then today had surely done a fine job of that.

You would still keep an eye out, though. Just in case.

Territorial

(Gally x Reader)

Hello, excuse me, coming through - I bring you more jealous Gally ♥️ Because I like it. It’s fun. Maybe I like it a little too much lol Enjoy!

The Safe Haven was growing more and more stunning every day. Thriving like the little patch of paradise it was. Neither you, nor any of your friends had ever seen anything like it, and now this place was your home. A hard-earned one, at that.

Though it was all very new, some aspects did call back to familiar times.

Much like it was in the glade, everyone did their part. Worked tirelessly and readily to make the place into something they always dreamed of.

The plantations were never at a shortage of people wanting to help in any way they could.

New huts and sheds were being built with such expert speed, it almost seemed like they were growing right out of the ground. Mostly thanks to your beloved boyfriend - the best builder the Safe Haven had to offer.

With Vince’s approval and encouragement, Gally had taken control over the construction of the place. He was in charge of what was being built, where and how. You were thrilled for him. He was back to doing what he loved, what his strong, hard-working hands were made to do. In the few months of being there, he had put together a sound team, and it was only growing.

There were plenty of newcomers, faces you hadn’t seen when you first arrived there yourselves. Every few weeks, Vince and a few others would venture out into the “old world” in search for more survivors and bring back whoever they could find.

And every other week a large bonfire was held, not only to celebrate everything that’d been accomplished, but also to welcome all the new arrivals. Another tradition that had apparently followed you all the way from the glade, not that you minded.

Tonight was one of those nights.

Vince and his friends had had a particularly fruitful trip, bringing back a whole lot of fourteen people. Most of them were young, around the same age as you and your friends, from what you could tell.

One of them had apparently taken an interest in becoming a builder as soon as they all settled in, and surely enough, he was swiftly pointed to Gally.

Though Gally tried to mask it, the spark of amusement behind his eyes was evident as he sensed how nervous the guy was to talk to him. His hand practically trembled, trying to keep a hold of the drink Gally had offered to help him relax.

“Ethan, is it?” Gally inquired, taking a seat next to him on the bench and taking a swig of the slightly bitter liquid sloshing in his mug.

The guy nodded, quickly, his eyes darting between Gally and the dancing flames of the fire “Y-Yeah, that’s me. I don’t know how much they told you - I just got here a few days ago.”

Gally scoffed with a light grin “Well they told me that much. Settling in alright?”

Ethan nodded once more “Yeah, this place is amazing. I never thought I’d end up anywhere like it…”

Gally hummed, taking another sip. He knew that feeling all too well, as did you, all of you. Whatever hell hole Vince had dug the new group out of, the Safe Haven had to be a drastic change of scenery to them.

“I take it, you’ve been here a while?”

Gally glanced over to Ethan’s question “Depends what you call “a while”. My friends and I got here about five months ago.”

“Wow…” Ethan exhaled with a small smile “You guys must have it all figured out by now, everyone knows what they’re doing.”

Gally grinned from the corner of his mouth “Pretty much.” He nodded towards a small group just a few feet away “You already know Frypan - he’s one of the reasons we don’t just have coconuts and bananas for dinner.”

Ethan let out a chuckle, finally beginning to ease up as Gally continued.

“The one next to him, with the dark hair, that’s Minho. He’s one of the Explorers. They do exactly what you’d assume from the name. Then there’s Thomas and Brenda, they’re at the armoury most of the time, but sometimes they join Minho on his outings and sometimes they even help me.”

Ethan listened closely, fascinated by the multitude of ways people could find a purpose for themselves. He still was certain he wanted to try and join Gally’s team, but it was nice to know that if he failed there, there were plenty of other options.

Then, the guy’s brows suddenly shot upwards as something else caught his attention. Or rather, someone. His eyes zeroed in on a young woman laughing chirpily at something Minho must’ve said and looking positively radiant in the warm golden glow cast onto her by the fire.

“Wait, who’s that…?” Ethan discreetly gestured towards the source of his momentary lapse of focus as Gally’s gaze landed on it as well.

The grip Gally had on his drink involuntarily tightened, his eyes flickering with something that shouldn’t have been prodded at.

Of course it had to be you. Would’ve been weirder if it wasn’t.

From time to time, Gally would catch a few other guys staring at you. Things like that couldn’t evade him in a million years. They were all newcomers - no one who actually knew Gally would be dumb enough to ogle his girl. He tried not to let it bother him. He knew you only loved him. However, more often than not, it couldn’t be helped. Gally was definitely the territorial type, especially when it came to you. Most of all, when it came to you.

Luckily for everyone involved, Gally was no longer quite as hotheaded as he was back in the glade. While he was still a force not to be messed with, he was much better at keeping his cool than he used to be.

Gally huffed under his breath, all trace of his kindling temper vanishing from his face as he spared Ethan a stoic glance.

“That’s Y/N.”

Ethan’s mouth broke out into a dopey grin as he eyed you up and down from the distance.

Gally held a short pause, fingers nonchalantly tapping on the side of his mug as he anticipated how quickly that stupid look was about to be wiped off the shank’s face.

“My girlfriend.”

“Oh…”

Gally bit back a smirk as Ethan’s expression suddenly fell, rapidly widened eyes darting to him in utter horror.

“OH…! I-I’m so sorry, I didn’t-I had no idea!” He stammered, frantically, visibly shrinking into himself.

Gally almost let out a laugh, swallowing it at the last second. He could practically see the poor guy’s life flashing before his eyes. Maybe back in the glade he wouldn’t have let something like that slide so easily, but Gally was more mature than that now. Or at least he hoped he was.

“It’s alright.” He snickered, placing an unintentionally heavy hand on Ethan’s shoulder. “You didn’t know. You do, now.”

Ethan nodded quickly, Gally’s leniency keeping him from sweating through his jacket. Still, he hurried to excuse himself.

“Definitely! Sorry, I-uh… I think I’m gonna go find my friends.”

Gally chuckled at the guy’s crooked attempt at a smile before he disappeared out of his sight.

The builder drew in a deep breath before taking another swig of his drink. It wasn’t surprising that it had happened again. But it was still annoying as all hell. Those new guys that kept showing up… He had no desire to have to approach every last one of them and state that you weren’t up for grabs. But they needed to know. No matter if they just got there last week or an hour ago.

Maybe a bit of a demonstration was in order.

Gally swiftly pulled himself up from the bench, leaving his mug behind as he strode towards you, every step echoing with purpose.

You grinned, brilliantly, at Gally’s fast approaching form, having veered away from the rest of your friends for a quick sip of water.

“Hey, where’ve you been? I was starting to miss you!” You let out a soft giggle as your boyfriend came closer. And immediately you noticed the strange glint in his eyes and the devilish smirk playing at the corner of his mouth.

“Gally…?” You didn’t get to inquire further as his large hands scooped you up from the ground in one effortless motion, his lips crashing down on yours in a fiery kiss.

Only a short squeak escaped you before you melted into Gally, your legs wrapping around him as you returned his passion, your lips moving eagerly and seamlessly against his own. It wasn’t unusual for him to get pleasantly rough with you at times. He knew how to be that way without hurting you and he was well aware that you enjoyed that side of him. However, it was quite rare for him to handle you in such a manner in public. What could’ve brought it on…?

Finally you pulled back from the hungry kiss, your lips still tingling as you looked up at Gally, your face undoubtedly feeling hot to the touch.

“What’s gotten into you?” You panted, slightly, tracing a finger down his freckled cheek “People are gonna stare…”

Gally merely huffed, a grin curling his mouth “Great. Let them. Hope they get a good look.”

Your brows propped up at the unexpected response. It wasn’t typical for Gally to want that kind of attention on the two of you. Unless…

Realization paved your features as a breathy chuckle trailed from your reddened lips.

“Oh, I think I get what this is. Did you see some guy checking me out? Are you teaching someone a lesson, my keeper?” You grinned. Your sweet voice, dripping with underlying teasing, only added fuel to Gally’s inner burning.

His right hand gave your thigh a languid squeeze as he gazed deep into your glittering eyes.

“You just know everything, don’t you?” Gally husked, his lowered tone sending a tingle through your nerves.

“Well, not everything. But a lot. Especially if it has to do with you.”

Gally didn’t respond for a second. Only held you closer, admiring your smooth features as he lightly swayed you from side to side. He didn’t necessarily need to - you already knew you guessed right.

You shook your head, brushing your thumb over his cheekbone “Please tell me the poor guy’s still alive.”

Gally rolled his eyes, smiling nonetheless “He’s fine. Got off with a warning.”

You snickered, bringing your arms around his neck. If he really wanted to show off the fact that you were his so badly tonight… very well. You could indulge him.

“Okay then… ” You murmured, your lips inching closer and craving to be back on his “Assert your claim, baby.”

Gally’s eyes flashed with determination and longing, his burly arms around you feeling like an impenetrable shield as his lips captured your own once again, swallowing your deep hum of satisfaction.

Your tough builder could get a bit possessive, there was no arguing that. It wasn’t a bad thing though, not to you.

Because you sure knew how to make the best of it.

Just a Touch

(Gally x Reader)

Requested by anon. Shameless fluff, my teeth are rotting. Wouldn’t have it any other way lol Enjoy!

You and Gally were friends. That’s how it always had been, ever since he let you on his team of builders, and how you thought it always would be.

As staggering as it initially was that the rough and tough Keeper had warmed up to you, you welcomed it thoroughly.

You were comfortable in each other’s presence. Working alongside him was fun, with your lighthearted conversations and the multitude of inside jokes you had come to share. Having lunch together had become a fairly regular thing for the two of you and being in one another’s company throughout the day, even when work wasn’t involved, inevitably brought you closer.

You liked Gally very much. Admired him, even. He was strong, one of the strongest boys in the glade, which was saying a lot.

He took his job and responsibilities with utter seriousness and made sure to keep order in everything he did and everything his builders did. Whatever was made by him was sturdy, durable, safe and would probably last way longer than anyone would expect.

He was strict but he was fair. Sure, he could be a bit harsh with his criticism and you pitied any poor shank who’d find himself on the receiving end of it, but it was never undeserved.

Despite Newt’s opinion that the builders were much better with their hands than they were with their brains, you believed that was wildly false for Gally. He wasn’t dumb in any aspect. His sketches, designs and measurements were sometimes too complex for even you to understand, but he knew exactly what he was doing and he did it confidently.

As much as you enjoyed his work-focused and resilient side, his laid-back and genial one pulled you in even more. You loved seeing his boyish grins, hearing his deep laughs and snickers, watching the crease on his forehead disappear as you and him relaxed together after a long hard day.

It was also impossible not to notice how protective Gally was of you, and it wasn’t just because you were the only girl. It was because he cared. Though you already had a few months of experience working with the builders and could definitely be trusted to be left alone with your tasks, he would still keep an eye on you, just to make sure you didn’t accidentally hurt yourself.

He never let you carry anything he deemed too heavy, and every protest you had on the matter was ignored. It got a bit annoying at times, but you knew it was one of his ways of looking out for you and you couldn’t help but find it sweet.

While it was perfectly okay for him to occasionally lift you off the ground or deliver you a playful nudge, it was absolutely not okay for anyone else to try it. Whenever it looked like someone was getting a little too close, he would appear out of seemingly nowhere and immediately put a distance between you and whoever was pushing their luck. You didn’t mind it. You didn’t really want anyone except for Gally doing that kind of thing anyway.

You and him were close, you were thankful to have a friend like Gally.

Friend… He was your friend.

Just your friend.

The words that normally wouldn’t have a shadow of a doubt behind them, you now had to repeat to yourself, over and over again.

All because of one mere moment that had taken place a few days ago and refused to leave your mind since.

You and Gally had just finished putting together a new ladder and were about to head off to dinner when he suddenly stopped, his bluish-green eyes narrowing before a chuckle fell from his mouth.

“What?” Your brows propped up at him in questioning “Is there something on my face?”

He shook his head, a soft grin forming on his lips “No. Not on your face.”

And then his hand lifted, reaching to pull a spiral of sawdust out of your hair, his calloused fingers inadvertently threading through your soft locks as he did it.

It was a second. The lightest, most innocent touch. But it was at that second that you felt time stop.

You had no idea why that small gesture felt so… intimate, but it did. Your breath halted, an unfamiliar spark of warmth and excitement igniting deep within your chest as you felt blood rush to your face.

Like a gong booming through your head. Like something that had been forming, building up and simmering for months was ready to shine through, and Gally had just flipped the final switch.

His fingers were gone too quickly, the piece of sawdust floating to the ground as you momentarily locked eyes with him.

The piercing gaze that normally brought you only comfort and tranquility was now making your heartbeat quicken with an emotion you couldn’t say you had felt before. It was new, disorienting and a bit frightening. However, it was also intriguing, compelling and immensely difficult to resist.

“Hey, you alright?”

Gally’s deep voice swiftly brought you out of your trance as you managed a shaky nod before the two of you proceeded to go grab some food, all while you idly tried to ignore the hammering of your pulse.

That was the moment something in your and Gally’s relationship shifted.

Whatever that one touch of his had set off, you couldn’t shake it, and all you knew was that you wanted more of it.

The thought of romance had hardly crossed your mind before, but now every time you looked at Gally, you felt it filling your mind like a thick fog, disregarding anything your better judgement had to say about it.

Every warm feeling you had towards him had amplified, molding into something else, something beyond your control.

As you and Gally sat by each other’s side after dinner, stretching your muscles and talking about your plans for the next day, your eyes kept flickering to his face much more frequently than they used to.

His vibrant eyes, the curve of his brows, the faint freckles that dotted his skin, his lips that looked so inviting… He was handsome. Very handsome. How could you have not noticed that before…?

Your movements felt like they were being guided by some unseen force as you gingerly moved a little bit closer to him, your arm nearly brushing against his.

Gally stopped talking, his head tilting to look over to you in curiosity.

You stayed completely still, afraid to breathe as you awaited his reaction, your gaze fixated on the dancing flames of the fire you sat by.

By the sudden silence you figured he was taken aback by the closeness, but much to your relief, he didn’t seem opposed.

There was no telling what was running through his mind, what exactly he was feeling.

But when his arm moved, tentatively wrapping around your shoulders and bringing you into his side, you knew for sure what you were feeling.

The next few days passed quickly with you venturing into the new territory that laid before you and Gally.

Fleeting brushes of your fingers against his, soft nudges of your knee at lunch, your arm gently circling around his here and there.

Gally still wasn’t bold enough to initiate the contact that now felt doubtlessly more than friendly, but he never rejected or avoided it.

You realized that this was just as new to him as it was to you, so you were happy to take it at a steady pace. With every touch he returned, with every time the distance grew smaller, you felt your heart beating with unremitting hope.

Gally wasn’t pulling away. Whatever was happening between the two of you, he was leaning into it. Slowly, cautiously, but he was.

He wasn’t afraid to be alone with you.

You were on the watchtower, sitting by his side in comfortable silence, you feet dangling down as you watched the sun descend and disappear behind the giant maze walls.

He had invited you to hang out there with him before, more than once, but this time felt different.

He was close, close enough that you could feel the warmth of his body as your head rested on his shoulder. Neither one of you wanted to speak first, afraid that it might disturb the serene quietude you were basking in together.

With bated breath, you trailed your fingers down to his hand, timidly tracing his rough palm before interlocking your fingers together.

Though Gally didn’t object, you could feel his form stiffen beside you, and that was enough for concern to flash across your features.

Was he uncomfortable and just couldn’t bring himself to tell you that? The thought of it worried you, you didn’t want to believe it, but you had to make sure.

Your head lifted from his shoulder as you looked up at him, searching his face for answers.

“Is everything okay…?”

Gally met your soft inquisitive gaze, giving you a firm nod “Yeah, of course. Why wouldn’t it be?”

You shrugged, slight nervousness creeping through your veins “You seem a bit tense. I’m trying not to take it personally, but…”

Gally quickly shook his head, not letting you go on as his hold on your hand instantly tightened.

“No, no, no. It’s not you. I promise.”

Your brows furrowed in confusion “Then what is it?”

Gally huffed to himself, looking away as he struggled to find the right way to put it.

You weren’t sure what the problem was, but if you had to guess…

“Gally…” You tipped your head to the side, your eyes not leaving his face “Do you just… not like being touched?”

An unusually timid half-smile curved the corner of his mouth as he returned his gaze to you.

“I’m just not really used to it. Not like that.”

You felt your hand being given an indicative squeeze, signifying exactly what he meant.

Your features softened with an understanding smile. Of course he wasn’t used to being touched in any type of way that resembled affection. All he ever knew, just like all the other boys there, were casual claps on the back or competitive shoves in the fighting circle. This, what you were offering him, was entirely unfamiliar. He needed to be shown how nice it could feel to believe it, and you were more than willing to help him out.

Slowly, you withdrew your hand from his, only to inch upwards towards his face.

You paused there, your warm gaze lingering on his “May I?”

Gally’s throat bobbed as he swallowed, his cheeks painting with pink. After a few seconds of thought, he nodded his head.

Tentatively, with all the gentleness in the world, you fingertips skimmed down his cheek in a delicate caress. A feathery light touch, but it was enough to make his mind float.

Gally’s eyes closed, his chest rising and falling evenly as he relished in the foreign but utterly pleasant sensation. A comforting warmth flourished through his body as your thumb brushed over his cheekbone, your soft palm resting on the side of his face.

He could get used to this. He could, for sure, get used to this, as long as you were the one giving him that warmth.

His breath caught in his throat as he suddenly felt a tender force press to his cheek, being gone before he could fully comprehend it.

Gally opened his eyes, finding your face just mere inches away from his, a sweet smile adorning your lips as you looked at him in a way he had never dreamed of being looked at.

The impression of your kiss burned on his cheek in the most captivating way as he reached up, his hand covering your smaller one as his heart thumped in his chest.

“You’re gonna kill me, greenie…”

His low whisper prompted a chuckle to escape your lips.

“You do know I haven’t been a greenie for about five months now, right?”

That didn’t faze the builder in the slightest, a charming grin brightening his face.

“Doesn’t matter. You’ll always be my greenie.”

A wave of heat flowed to your cheeks, your heart fluttering at his words.

Your hand lowered from Gally’s face to interlace with his calloused fingers once again, your head tucking into the crook of his neck as his muscular arm smoothly wrapped around your waist, bringing you into his hold.

One single thought occupied your mind, but in that moment, it was the only one you needed.

Hisgreenie.

What Dreams are Made of

(Gally x Reader)

Heeyy, help yourselves to a little bit of spice. It’s really hard to avoid it for long with this man lol Or maybe it’s just me and I can’t help it ‍♀️ Enjoy!
Warning: NSFW themes, no actual smut though.

The sun was beating down on Gally as he headed over to the hut he shared with you, mentally cursing himself for having left his measurement journal in there earlier. At moments like this he really missed having a tool belt like he did back in the Glade - it sure used to make his job as a builder easier.

It was barely an hour past lunch time at the Safe Haven and while some of your friends would usually still be lounging around by the beach, Gally was all too eager to get back to work. Of course, he couldn’t have predicted how difficult getting back to work was about to become for him in just a few short minutes.

As Gally’s tall burly form entered the hut, the door closing behind him, he was immediately met with a sight that brought an uncontrollably soft smile to his freckle-dotted face.

It was you. On the bed, laying on your side with your arm tucked underneath your head. Your eyes were closed in peaceful slumber, form perfectly still aside from the small movement of your even breathing, your slightly parted lips almost calling out for him to come wake you up with a kiss.

Gally wasn’t planning on it, though it was tempting. You rarely took naps during the day, so he figured you must’ve been pretty exhausted. His gaze, etched with affection, trailing up and down your sleeping frame, he walked past the bed and over to the makeshift desk he kept some of his stuff in.

He began rummaging through it in search for his journal when he heard slight movement coming from behind him, followed by a breathy murmur.

“Gally…”

His brows propped upwards as he promptly turned to the sweet sound, expecting to find you fluttering your eyes open.

To his surprise, they were still closed and you were still very much asleep, though you had shuffled to lay on your back.

Were you dreaming about him? The thought of it widened Gally’s smile, a wave of warmth engulfing his heart. Judging by the serene expression on your face, he was positive it wasn’t a nightmare. Just then, a blissful sigh escaped your delicate lips as his name tumbled from them once again, your tone even softer than the first time.

“Gally…”

Now you definitely had his full attention. It didn’t escape his notice how your breathing seemed to gradually grow more shallow. One of your hands clutched at the pillow as your back arched ever-so-slightly off the bed, but that small movement was enough to make Gally’s pulse quicken, a fiery gleam flickering in his piercing green eyes as realization hit him.

So it was that kind of dream… fascinating.

His smile melting into an impish smirk, he carefully approached the bed, lowering himself to sit next to you as his gaze traced every detail of your smooth face, watching every little twitch like it was the most intriguing thing in the world. Something from deep within his subconscious suggested that the right thing to do was leave, and if you weren’t his girlfriend he absolutely would have done just that.

But you were. You were his, he was yours, and at this very moment you were having a sex dream about him. Gally couldn’t imagine the natural disaster that had to occur in order to make him leave right now.

His name fell from your lips once more, followed by a hushed whimper that clearly had nothing to do with pain. On the contrary, whatever was happening in your dream, you were undoubtedly enjoying it.

Gally couldn’t deny how hot this was making him either, he could already feel a building pressure beneath his lower abdomen. The smirk that played at his lips remained unfaltering as he lowered his head until his mouth was mere inches away from your ear.

“What do you want, baby…?” His whisper fanned your skin as you let out the softest of moans in your sleep.

Gally swallowed a groan at the delicious sound, a prominent heat circling his groin.

“Tell me…”

You exhaled a gust of air, his low whisper reverberating through your body as you replied as coherently as you could, considering you were still dreaming.

“You…”

Gally’s lips brushed the shell of your ear “I’m right here.”

You whined almost helplessly, your head tilting backwards “You… inside me…”

Gally’s jaw clenched at the mumbled words that sent his mind into a frenzy. He almost considered waking you up so he could give you what you wanted but the better part of him decided against it.

His breath washing over your skin, he whispered “That can be arranged… but you’ll have to be awake for it, baby.”

Gally then withdrew, brushing a strand of hair out of your slightly flushed face as your laboured breathing seemed to slowly level out, your form relaxing as no further whimpers fell from your lips. He smiled, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead before getting up and going to grab his journal. It was a miracle he still remembered why he had gone into the hut in the first place, but god was he glad he didn’t miss this.

~~~~~~
Your eyes fluttered open, an afternoon sluggishness pervading your limbs as you grunted quietly, sitting up on the bed. You weren’t sure how long you’d been asleep but by the light filtering though the window you guessed it still wasn’t too late in the day. Bit by bit, the recollection of the dream your nap had brought you flooded your brain, causing blood to rush to your cheeks. It was so vivid, you could almost still hear Gally’s low voice in your ear, could still feel the warmth of his strong body hovering over you.
A little grin tugged at your lips as you attempted to shake the naughty thoughts out of your head. You would have to get back to them later, maybe even tell Gally… surely that was something he’d be most interested in.
Regardless, it would have to wait. Right now you needed to get back to your job - you sort of felt bad for leaving Gally to work on the new supply shack on his own while you were taking a nap. You knew he most likely didn’t mind, but your conscience couldn’t have that.
With a final stretch of your arms, you hopped off the bed and slipped out of the hut, making your way over to your designated working area for the next couple of days.
As soon as your eyes landed on him, a smile brightened your face along with the rays of sunlight hitting it. Though his features were relaxed, his eyes showcased nothing but concentration as he sawed through a piece of wood for what would eventually be a door.
Gally grinned as you approached him, standing up on your tippy toes to peck his cheek as he playfully pinched your hip.
“Wow, look who showed up. Enjoyed your nap, baby?”
You rolled your eyes, nudging him in the side. Despite knowing he was only messing around, his chastising tone didn’t help your case.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to fall asleep, I was just…” you shrugged, guiltily “A bit tired today, I guess.”
Gally shook his head before pecking your temple “I’m kidding, Y/N. Better you do that than work yourself into oblivion.”
You chuckled, looking up at him with slightly narrowed eyes “Right, because that’s something only you can do around here.”
Your boyfriend scoffed, your smartass comment earning you another pinch as you yelped with a light laugh.
Gally glanced over your form, his mind calling back to the earlier moment in the hut as he quickly busied his hands with filing down the piece of wood in front of him. For a minute there he almost thought he could resist teasing you about it. Almost.
“Had any dreams?” He inquired, his tone as nonchalant as could be.
The mere question shot a tingly spark down your spine as your eyes fixated on his face. You couldn’t tell if he knew something or was merely asking and his casual manner gave you no clues.
“None that I remember.” You plastered a smile, still planning to keep that whole thing to yourself, at least until a bit later.
The corner of Gally’s lips twitched with a smirk “Are you sure? Need a second to think about it?”
You bit the inside of your lip, your face immediately feeling hotter as you stared at him. Oh, he knew. He definitely knew, didn’t he? He must’ve stopped by the hut while you were asleep and heard something. Though something in you couldn’t help feeling a bit embarrassed, you hurried to shut it down. You were not going to be embarrassed about that. You were thinking about telling him anyway, and if it had to happen earlier than you’d planned… oh well.
You sighed, pursing your lips as Gally’s smirk widened in spite of his clear attempts to fight it back “You were at the hut earlier, weren’t you?”
Your boyfriend glanced over to you “Maybe.”
“How much did you hear?”
“Oh, I heard enough.” Gally released a deep chuckle as he finally turned his body towards you, his hands propping up on his broad hips. “Sucks that I couldn’t really help you out but I hope it ended well. I mean, it always does when you’re awake.”
You cursed under your breath, his cheeky grin only adding fuel to the fiery specks coursing through your body at his teasing. Nonetheless, you held Gally’s gaze, refusing to falter.
“Why didn’t you wake me up?”
“Why would I? It sounded like you were having a good time.”
You mirrored his grin, stepping closer to him as your arms snaked around his neck. If he thought he could taunt you and you wouldn’t say anything back, he thought wrong.
“I was… Not as good as when you’re actually on top of me, though.”
Now it was Gally’s turn to feel hot in the face. His hands wasted no time latching onto your hips and pulling you into him as his penetrating gaze ignited with yearning. Just like you wanted. You decided to take it further as your leaned up to his ear, feeling his fingers digging into your clothed skin.
“Not sure if I remember it right, but… I believe something was to be arranged after I woke up. That offer still good?” Your plainly seductive whisper coaxed a longing grunt from Gally’s throat as he pulled back an inch.
The builder’s heated stare flickered between your eyes and your inviting lips while his calloused fingers snuck underneath your top, tracing the skin of your lower back.
“There’s a shotgun in my desk, bottom left drawer. If I ever say Noto something like this, feel free to use it on me.”
Already Gone
(Gally x Reader)
Requested by anon. This is hurt/comfort at its finest with a sprinkle of good ole’ fluff at the end because heaven knows I can’t live without it lol Enjoy!
Silence. Nothing had ever rung louder than the blaring silence, heavy with dread and utter disbelief. All you could do was stare at the scratchy grey concrete as the loathsome sound of the doors booming to a close still echoed through the glade.
Alby. Minho. The Greenie. All three of them gone… just like that? No, it couldn’t be real, it had to be a nightmare, one you would surely wake up from at any second. There was no way the glade had just lost its leader, the Keeper of the Runners and the newbie - all in one go.
So why weren’t you waking up?
You couldn’t remember how you had managed to drag your feet away from the walls and make it to one of the benches not far from Frypan’s shack. Everything around you felt like a blur, static coursing through the air and numbing your senses.
It was already dark and still eerily quiet. Dinner time was undeniably cheerless and glum tonight, only the faint sounds of an occasional mutter or a clink of a fork just barely reaching your ears.
The glade was in shock. No one had been lost to the Maze in a very long time. In the two years that you’ve been there, you hadn’t seen it happen once, only heard stories about a dark time that haunted the memories of the ones that had been there the longest. What the hell was happening now? Just yesterday you had to say goodbye to Ben in the most gruesome circumstances imaginable. And today you were down by three more? It seemed surreal. Even though it had happened right before your very eyes, your mind couldn’t wrap around it.
Your jaw clenched, tension reverberating through your body as you shakily stood up, feeling the overpowering need to distance yourself from everything and everyone. Your limbs felt heavy, like your veins were pumping liquid iron instead of blood, as you trudged over to a desolate log, away from the others, away from the hopeless and somber whispers.
Tears were beginning to sting your eyes as your hands gripped at the rough wood beneath your palms, the scabrous ridges digging into your soft skin.
Alby was your friend, so was Minho… they both had been. You still remembered your first day in the glade, Alby’s kind gaze and comforting tone as he helped you settle in and assured you that you were safe around him, just as you were around everyone else. He had always been the one everyone knew they could turn to for support or any kind of help. He’d been the best leader anyone could have asked for. He’d been there from the start, laid foundation to making the glade into what it was now, and he’d done a great shucking job. You could hardly imagine the place without Alby, he seemed like such an integral part of it.
And Minho… though you had only ever had the chance to talk to him after work hours, his contagious smile, easy-going manner and witty sense of humor had quickly turned him into one of people you’d say you were closest to. Whenever you’d feel particularly beat after a hard day, he’d always have a joke to elevate the mood and make you believe that no matter what, tomorrow would be better.
The greenie… Thomas… though you had only known him for a couple of days, he seemed like a decent guy, even if a little too curious for his own good. What he had done, running into the maze like that, was nothing short of mad. It was practically suicide and your heart clenched at the thought of his journey ending when it had just barely begun.
A sudden weight lowering down next to you pulled you out of your spiral of anguished thoughts as you looked over to the side, attempting to blink back your misery.
Your red-rimmed eyes were met by Gally’s heavy and dreary gaze as he moved closer to you, his insides churning at the sight of his girl so utterly distraught and grief-stricken.
“How are you holding up?”
Though it did seem like a silly question to ask, all things considered, it was decidedly better than “You okay?”. Of course you weren’t okay - no one was at the moment.
Your swallowed a sob as you looked up into your boyfriend’s caring eyes, knowing he was looking for a way to bring you comfort, yet struggling to find one.
“I-I can’t believe they’re gone…” Your trembling voice uttered, another salty tear escaping the corner of your eye and rolling down your cheek. You didn’t want to break down, wanted to spare Gally the ache of watching you quake and sob without being able to help you, so you tried to keep it together as much as you could.
Gally’s gaze lowered, his muscular arm lifting to wrap around your shoulders, pulling you into the warmth of his hold as you bit the inside of your cheek, leaning into him and hiding your face in his broad chest. Quiet sniffles escaped you as he rubbed your back up and down in what he hoped was a soothing motion.
He didn’t know what to say. Truly, he didn’t. A part of him wanted to tell you that there was still a chance of Alby, Minho and the greenie making it back to the glade, but he wasn’t sure it would be right to give you false hope. No one has ever survived a night in the maze - that was the harsh reality. And there was nothing to suggest that this time would be different. Still, Gally felt like he had to say something. Even if he didn’t believe it himself.
“Maybe they’re not gone yet.” He muttered into your hair, lips pressed to your temple as you held onto him.
Your head lifted, your teary eyes meeting his once more as your chest constricted with another weak sob.
“You really think they could survive out there?”
The very implication felt impossible. The maze promised nothing but death at night, with Grievers lurking around the corners, seeking out the first chance to devour their pray. Plus, from what you had witnessed, Alby was already out and you could only guess what kind of shape Minho was in. As for Thomas… not only was he not a runner and didn’t know anything about the maze, but he had also proven himself to be on the reckless side. If he survived, it’d be a shucking miracle.
Gally exhaled a deep sigh as he looked at you, his warm thumb brushing away your tears in a gentle caress.
“I think we’ll know for sure when the doors open in the morning and not a minute sooner. So until then… there’s still hope.” He replied, trying not to let a single note of doubt falter his tone. Maybe if he said it confidently enough, he might actually attain some of that hope as well, as difficult as it was.
Despite the idea of the boys returning safe and relatively unharmed sounding more like wishful thinking, Gally’s words and deep comforting voice managed to slightly lift the massive weight of grief pushing down on you. A tiny speck of faith found its way into your heart, igniting like a lone match in a dark hallway.
You gave him a weak nod, a resemblance of a small smile touching the corner of your mouth. Gally hugged you tightly to his chest, letting you bury your face in the crook of his neck, your leftover tears dampening his skin.
No matter the awful turn of events that had led to this moment, the fear that seeped through the cracks of the maze walls, you were thankful that you at least had Gally. You had him through everything. He was your rock, your protection, your main source of happiness in this godforsaken place. If anyone had any power to make you feel better, it was him.
The tension pervading your form began fading as you allowed yourself to succumb to the warmth and safety of Gally’s arms. The builder carded his fingers through your hair, his heart thumping against yours as his closeness sheltered you from the horrors of your small and damaged world.
Whatever the next morning would bring, you believed you could handle it, so long as Gally was right there with you. Even if the the pain was only just beginning… you wouldn’t have to face it alone. You would never be alone. That much, Gally would ensure.
Bonfire Play
Pairing: Gally x Reader
Rated: MATURE! 18+ ONLY! (FINGERING, DIRTY TALK, TEASING, SEMI-PUBLIC)
Requested by: Anon
“Keeping quiet behind a log during a bonfire (like how newt and Thomas sit together in the first movie) while gally fingers you and teases you for how loud ur being ”
This ones a little shorter. I think that’s because there’s pretty much no plot just some nice smutty fingering. Thank you for the request! I hope you enjoy it!
It had been a very long day and I had spent as much time as I cared to at the bonfire. The boys were having the time of their lives shouting and laughing. I hid behind some logs trying to have a few peaceful moments. I breathed deeply as I slumped against the wood. I had a few seconds of peace before a body fell next to me scaring the shit out of me.
Gally laughed making me slap his chest. He moved to sit just like me so we were both hidden from the others that were still partying a few feet behind us.
“What are you doing back here baby?” He asked softly.
I sighed leaning my head on his shoulder.
“Just tired it’s been a long day,” I told him.
I felt his fingers gently grab my chin then he tipped my head back so I was looking up at him. He licked his lips as he eyed mine. I saw the mischievous look in his eyes which made butterflies erupt in my stomach. It was absolutely ridiculous what this guy could make me feel from the smallest thing like a look. My breathing caught in my chest as his hand lightly trailed down my neck then my chest, all the way down to the hem of my shirt. I gasped softly when I felt his large calloused hands slip under my shirt to softly caress my skin.
“Gally,” I said softly.
“Let me help you relax beautiful.” He whispered.
I wasn’t sure what he meant at first. He kissed me softly as his hand went lower. As soon as he started undoing the button on my shorts I grabbed his wrist.
“What are you doing? Someone will see us.” I hissed quietly.
He grinned mischievously at me. He peeked over the logs to the group of boys behind us.
“I think we’re hidden good enough. You’ll just have to be quiet. Think you can do that baby?” He said quietly then licked his lips.
I nodded then let go of his wrist. Excitement pulsed through me suddenly at the thought of what he was going to do. I bit my lip as he unbuttoned my shorts. He teased the hem of my panties as he leaned closer placing soft kisses on my neck. My head instantly moved to the side allowing him more access as his hand disappeared into my shorts. I gasped at the first swipe of his finger. Gally hummed against my neck as he slowly teased me.
“So wet already baby.” He whispered.
He slowly made circles over my clit making me gasp and buck my hips into his hand. He chuckled softly into my neck. As he pressed one finger into me I groaned a little too loudly. I felt him grin before he continued kissing at my neck. At first, his pace was slow making me more frustrated than I already was.
“Gally please,” I whined.
He chuckled again then quickly added a second finger. I moaned loudly forgetting where we were as his fingers picked up the pace.
“I told you you had to be quiet baby.” He whispered then nipped at my ear.
I bit my lip trying to keep my noises at bay but as soon as Gally noticed what I was doing he curled his fingers moving them even faster.
“Oh god Gally” I groaned as I panted.
“You just can’t keep quiet can you?” He asked as he leaned back to look at me.
I tried to speak but only a much too loud moan came out. Gally chuckled as he watched me. The sounds coming out loud enough for anyone to hear if they were paying attention. I could hold them back or stop them. My mind was fogging only able to focus on the pleasure Gally was causing.
“What? You can’t bite it back?” He asked with an amused grin.
I reached up grabbing the collar of his shirt. I wrapped my hand around the fabric pulling his face closer.
“It sounds to me like you really enjoy this. Are you baby? Do you like me fingering right here where anyone could easily catch us?” He asked as he pressed his forehead against mine.
“Yes,” I panted.
I bit my lip muffling the loud cry that almost escaped.
“God, I don’t think I want you to be quiet baby. I want them to know what I do to you. How I make you feel.” He said breathlessly as his lips barely brushed against mine.
I tightened my hand in his shirt as I felt my walls clenching around his fingers. My head fell back against the logs. Gally was watching my face intently as he kept his fingers curled hitting that spot that was about to send me over the edge.
“That’s it baby, cum for me.” He said smiling proudly.
“Fuck” I groaned loudly as I did exactly what he said.
He chuckled as his fingers continued to fuck me through the orgasm. When he pulled them out I watched as he brought them to his mouth then cleaned them off himself. I heard my own whimper at the sight of him.
“God, you taste so good beautiful. Next time I think I’m gonna make you cum on my tongue.” He said breathlessly.
I panted as I fixed my shorts.
“You are the devil.” I teased with a smile.
He leaned forward capturing my lips with his. I couldn’t help moan into his mouth. He chuckled pulling back then tracing my bottom lip with his thumb.
“I love that I can pull those sounds out of you.” He grinned with a shrug.
“I’m gonna get you back,” I told him sternly.
“Oh, I’m counting on it gorgeous.” He winked at me.
Requests are open!
Fueled by Anger
Pairing: Gally x Reader
Warning: Cussing, Violence, Blood, Angst, Fluff
Requested by:Anon
“Hi, I really love your fics! Could you please write a one shot with Gally with the prompts 8 and 17? Thank you so much!”
Soooo, it took me a minute on this one cause I restarted like three times so this is what I ended up with. I’ve been in a little bit of a writers block slump. So, I hope you like it and thanks for the request!
Prompt #8: “You’ve got thirty seconds to explain to me what you’re doing here.”
Prompt #17: “You know she/he has at least five sharp blades in reaching distance right now, right?”
Ever since the maze, my life had been drastically different. Watching so many people I care about die. Watching him die. The hand full of us left had been on the run for so long I didn’t know what a decent night’s sleep felt like anymore. Even after we joined the right arm there was still little time for peaceful sleep. We were moving constantly while trying to find Minho and the rest of the immune.
I was in the back seat of a jeep as Thomas drove like a mad man. Fry was next to me while Next was in the front passenger seat. Thomas glanced at me in the mirror with a frown etched on his face. I knew what he was thinking. He hated the fact that I was the one who did all the interrogating when we got our hands on someone with the information we needed. I didn’t mind it though since I seemed to be the only one capable of doing whatever was necessary to get what we needed. I was already pretty good with hand to hand combat since.. he.. taught me back in the Glade. Then Vince taught me how to use a gun and knives.
“(Y/N), you sure about this?” Fry asked quietly from beside me.
“It’s nothing I haven’t done before Fry.” I told him keeping my eyes on the window next to me.
“Yea, but, don’t you get tired of it?” Newt asked twisting in his seat to look at me.
I shrugged as I turned to face the blonde.
“Not really, helps me channel my anger.” I said with a small smile.
“Maybe if you talked to us about Ga-” Thomas started.
“Don’t” I said through gritted teeth cutting him off.
I hadn’t said his name since the maze. I hadn’t let anyone say his name around me either. I didn’t want to hear it. I didn’t want to think about it. I would continue doing what I was doing. I didn’t need to relive that damn day. I’d rather just stab, punch, and on occasion shoot something to keep my mind occupied.
When we finally reached the small makeshift village where our new intel was we each climbed out taking in the area. It was only a few seconds later that we were surrounded. Several men armed to the teeth had their guns raised at us. I sighed stepping closer to my three friends.
“So much for a warm welcome.” I mumbled.
The four of us were dragged, pretty roughly, to one of the larger buildings. They shoved us inside where I immediately saw the man we were looking for at the far end of the room. He was sitting at the head of a table watching us intently.
“Check them for weapons.” He ordered his men.
They immediately did as they were told. Each of us were patted down. The boy’s only have a gun or a single knife. I, on the other hand, had plenty of toys. Then man frisking me kept pulling out knife after knife laying them on the table. I could see the amused smirk on my friend’s faces. The man taking my weapons looked incredibly surprised and confused. He finally stepped back thinking he was done. I smirked knowing he’d missed two of them. In a show of good faith I reached into my boot pulling out one of the twin daggers. I showed it to the man sitting at the table then tossed it on the pile with the rest of them.
“Well, that was unexpected.” Our targeted said with am amused grin.
He stood up then slowly walked over to me. I stood tall showing no emotion on my face as he circled me. He picked up some of my hair then inhaled deeply. He hummed in what sounded like satisfaction.
“Leave us” He ordered suddenly.
The boy’s moved to protest but I raised my hand and shook my head at them. They knew I had this under control. Even though they still wanted to protect me they knew I could handle myself. So the men grabbed the boys then quickly left the building leaving me alone with the man. I smirked thinking it was better this way. He stood behind me with he back pressed against my front. Before he could say a word I turned around to face him. We were so close our noses were touching. He grinned at me as his hands wrapped around my waist.
“You are a pretty little thing aren’t you?” He asked then licked his lips.
He leaned closer trying to press his lips against mine but I pressed a finger against his lips stopping him.
“How about you answer some questions for me sweet heart and I’ll do what ever you want.” I said in a breathy tone.
He smirked but his eyes turned dark. I was caught off guard as he quickly turned me around then slammed my upper body on top the table. I groaned from the forcefully impact.
“Nice try gorgeous but I’ll don’t give information away that easily.” He said in a dark tone.
I smirked as I waited for him to get closer. When he leaned over my back so close I could feel his breath on my skin I jerked my head back connecting with his face. He groaned as he stumbled backwards. I grabbed the last twin dagger hidden in my other boot then grabbed his hand twisting it violently making him drop to his knees with a howl. I kneeled in front of him quickly pressing the blade firmly against his throat.
“Should have took the easy way sweet heart.” I told him as he looked at me with fearful eyes.
He ground his teeth together.
“What do you want?” He asked through clenched teeth.
“I want to know where WCKD is. Where do they keep the immune.” I asked quietly.
He scoffed making me press the blade into his skin. He hissed as it barely broke open the skin.
“I’m a lot more scared of them than I am of you little girl.” He practically spat.
I sighed pulling the knife from his throat then shoved it back into my boot. I let go of his hand then quickly grabbed each side of his face. I pulled his head down as I lifted my knee. I yelped as I heard the satisfying crunch of bone. I let him go allowing him to fall to the floor as he clutched his face. I pulled out my knife again then grabbed him by the throat. I pulled him up into a sitting position as the door flew open. I pressed the blade right against his pulse this time.
“I would be a hell of a lot more scared of me right now sweet heart.” I told him coldly.
He raised his hand towards someone behind me then turned his bloody face to look me in the eyes.
“They call it the last city. It’s the base of their operations. That’s were they’re taking as many immunes as possible. Heavily fortified. You’ll never get inside.” He said quietly as he glared at me.
I let him go shoving my knife back in my boot.
“Thank you sweet heart you’ve been very helpful.” I told him with my best sweet smile.
The boys and I quickly gathered our weapons then left that damn place as fast as we could.
Even though with all our information it took us months to even get to a place where we could try. Vince was concerned about getting the ship ready to sail not waning to risk anymore lives but the boys and I knew we had to risk it. Even if it was just the four of us against an entire army we still had to try. WCKD had taken too much from all of us. Hell, I’d go in completely alone, guns blazing, if it came down to it. I hated WCKD with every fiber of my being. Each beat of my heart pulsed the fury and hatred through my veins.
When we reached the so called last city we had managed not to die thanks to Brenda and Jorge. Now we stood in the sand covered streets of the run down town outside of the city’s giant walls. WCKD and their damn walls. When all hell broke loose I found myself grabbed up with Thomas and Brenda then thrown in the back of a van. I was on my feet almost instantly lunging for the masked and armed men in front of me. Thomas was quick to grab my arms. He jerked me backwards causing me to land in his lap.
“Chill, (Y/N). Let’s find out was going on first then you can go all assassin if needed.” He said quietly.
I scowled but nodded. He let go of my arms then I moved to sit next to him once more. The vans came to a stop and we clambered out quickly. Jorge was beating the shit out of some guy making me smile until one of the masked men had to open his mouth.
“We’re on the same side!” The guy shouted.
His voice was muffled slightly from the mask he wore. Thomas stepped closer suddenly looking pissed.
“Same side? Who the hell are you?” He asked harshly.
The masked man sighed loudly then ripped his mask off. Everything suddenly froze as I met eyes with the man who was not a stranger at all. Those damn eyebrows. Those fucking lips. Everything came flooding back suddenly as Thomas punched him in the face. Newt pulled him off and as he got back to his feet I took off in a run. He barely registered me right before my body collided with his making him stumble backwards.
“Gally” I breathed out for the first time since I was taken from him.
He hugged me tightly to him.
“(Y/N)” He whispered into my hair.
I hadn’t had but a few minutes with Gally. Everything had happened so quickly. Everything was being put into place for us to get inside WCKD. As Gally and Thomas crawled out of the hole they had someone with them. They had a bag over their head which Gally ripped off. The anger flared in me instantly. I lunged forward grabbing her shirt.
You’ve got thirty seconds to explain to me what you’re doing here.” I practically growled at her.
Teresa was the last damn person I wanted to see. Hands grabbed me from behind pulling me backwards. I knew from the strong grip it was Gally. He wrapped his arms around me holding my back against his front.
“She’s here to help us.” Thomas said hesitantly.
I scoffed rolling my eyes at him.
“That bitch isn’t here to help Tommy! She already showed us her true colors!” I yelled in anger.
“Calm down (Y/N). He’s right. She’s gonna help us whether she likes it or not.” Gally said softly.
I stood at the table holding a cloth to the back of my neck. I was seething just being in the same room with that fucking traitor. Gally was watching me and I knew he could see the anger all over my face.
“You look like you want to murder someone.” Gally said just as Thomas, Brenda, and Teresa joined us at the table.
Fry and Newt both snorted a laugh.
“That’s cause she does.” Newt said softly glancing at the person I wanted dead.
“My hands have been twitching to wrap around the bitches throat since the day she betrayed us.” He said through clenched teeth.
Gally raised a brow as Teresa scoffed.
“Please, (Y/N), I thought of all people you would understand. You’ve always done what you felt was best for everyone.” She said softly.
I stepped forward slamming my hands on the table as I glared at her.
“No, I’ve always done what was best for me and my family. The people you betrayed.” I spat at her.
Teresa opened her mouth to say something but Thomas stopped her and shook his head.
You know she has at least five sharp blades in reaching distance right now, right?” Fry asked with an amused grin.
I saw Gally’s surprise mirror that of Teresa’s. I leaned forward on the table towards the girl.
“And I’m not afraid to use a damn one of them.” I hissed at her.
“Okay” Gally said as he stood up.
He grabbed my arms then forced me away from everyone to the other side of the room. He let go of me to cross his arms over his chest and stare down at me.
“As hot as that was, what the hell is going on with you?” He asked quietly.
I couldn’t hold back the smirk at his words.
“I’ve been a little tense since the day I thought you died.” I said softly.
“A little?” He questioned raising a brow at me.
I chuckled softly.
“Okay, a lot, but I couldn’t talk about it. I couldn’t even say your name or let anyone else say it around me. I couldn’t think about it. So, I became this anger fueled bitch ready to beat the shit out of anyone. Especially people like Teresa. I’ve wanted to gut her for so long.” I scoffed shaking my head.
Gally sighed stepping closer to me. I instantly relaxed as he wrapped his arms around my waist.
“She’s not worth it (Y/N). Save that anger for WCKD. Let it all out when we get in that city because when we’re done I’m gonna need the fun, loving, eccentric girl I fell in love with. This.. this isn’t you. I get you had to find some way to deal with everything that happened but I’m here now. You don’t have to be angry anymore.” He said softly.
I melted at his words. I wrapped my arms around his neck then finally kissed him for the first time in what felt like an eternity. When I pulled away I couldn’t help but smile.
“Did you really have that many blades in reaching distance?” He asked with an amused smile.
I laughed but nodded.
“I still do” I whispered.
“Seriously, that’s hot” He chuckled before pulling me back in for another kiss.
He was right. During our assault on WCKD I let out as much anger as possible. By the time we left I felt a million times lighter. The fact that I was sitting next to him wrapped in his arms definitely helped. My anger may have dissipated but I was keeping these knives. Apparently Gally had a thing for them and I planned on using that to my advantage.
Prompt: #12 - “I’m just gonna sit here and probably cry.”
“Love your blog! can you pleasee do prompt number 12 with gally where it’s at the part where everyone’s deciding to leave the glade or stay and you and gally stay, but you get sad because all your best friends like newt and thomas left and you cried the whole time as they were leaving. it’s difficult for you to process and gally your bf makes you realise he was worth staying for, and you both really love the glade because it feels like home. thank you kindly “
This was the worst moment of my life. Standing there next to Gally watching my friends, my best friends, turn their backs and walk away from us. The tears were streaming down my face staining my cheeks as I watched the scene unfold. I made my choice. I chose to stay with Gally but now that I’m watching everyone I care about walk away from me my was shattering.
“Good riddance” Gally huffed waiving a dismissive hand towards the maze.
He turned to me seeing my tear stained face then pulled me against his chest.
“It’s okay (Y/N). They chose to leave. Everything’s going to be fine.” He said softly.
I nodded trying to reassure him and myself but the pain in my chest said I might have made a mistake. Did I? Choosing my boyfriend over my friends? Choosing a life I thought would be safe? We’re those the wrong things to choose?
As the days passed I found quiet moments to cry and think over everything that had happened. I didn’t want Gally to see me cry anymore. I know he hated seeing it especially when there was nothing he could do to fix why I was crying. It just broke my heart knowing I’d never see or talk to Thomas or Newt again. I’d never eat anymore of Fry’s delicious food. I wouldn’t hear anymore of Minho’s stupid jokes. I missed them. I missed all of them. I missed the Glade being full of all our friends and family. Now it looked like a ghost town with the handful of us that are left.
I chose a tree behind what was left of the homestead today. Gally and the others were busy trying to fix and rebuild what was still standing. I leaned back against the tree trying to keep my breathing even as I felt the sadness wash over me again. I let the tears fall knowing it would be worse if I held them back.
“(Y/N)?” Gally voice made me jump.
I wiped furiously at my eyes as I heard him walk closer. He dropped something to the ground then he was kneeling in front of me. His large hands grabbed each side of my face pulling it up to look at him.
“Baby, what’s wrong?” He asked softly.
“Nothing” I sniffled and shook my head.
He gave me a flat look making me chuckle softly.
“I just can’t wrap my mind around everything. I’m terrified I made the wrong choice. I miss my friends.” She said as fresh tears fell down her cheeks.
Gally sighed as he fully sat down on the grass in front of her.
“(Y/N), I know it’s hard. Literally everything changed. I know you cared about them a lot but, hey, you still got me. The Glade is our home. It may not feel like it now but it will soon I promise. We can have everything here. We’ll be safe. We can have a future. Like a proper future. Me and you till the day we die. A family.” Gally explained softly.
I was taken back. A family? Is that what he really wanted? He leaned forward kissing me softly. When he pulled away he stood up then tried to help me to my feet but I pulled away from him. I just wasn’t in the mood.
“No Gally, I’m just gonna sit here and probably cry.” I mumbled.
“No you’re not (Y/N). I can’t just let you sit there and cry. Not on my watch baby.” He said as he reached for her again.
I huffed but let him help me to my feet. He silently pulled me behind him until we reached the middle of the Glade. He turned me around to face the broken buildings. He stood behind me with his hands resting on my upper arms. He leaned closer so he could speak quietly only to me.
“I know it doesn’t look like much right now but when we’re done it’s gonna look better than new. We’ll have a new homestead where we’ll put a meeting room and a place for new med jacks. Each of us will have our own little house to call home instead of the hammocks. They’ll be a little dining hall for us to eat in. When we are finished this place will truly be home.” Gally explained.
I turned around to face him. His hands moved to wrap around my waist pulling me closer to him.
“Me and you (Y/N). You still want that right?” He asked softly.
I couldn’t help but smile at him.
“Yes, Gally. I love you and that will never change. I just didn’t know how I was suppose to deal with loosing everyone.” I shrugged.
I turned back around leaning my back against his chest. His arms stayed wrapped around me as he rested his chin on top my head.
“But I can see it now. You’re right. It’ll take time but the Glade is our home. I’d rather be here where it’s safe with you then out there where we know absolutely nothing.” I told him softly.
“You sure?” He asked quietly.
“Yes” I chuckled softly.
“I may still have moments where I miss everyone but I’ll be okay. I know I made the right choice to stay with you Gally. There’s no place I’d rather be.” I told him.
He bent down slightly to place a gentle kiss to my cheek.
“I love you (Y/N).” He said as he leaned his forehead against my temple.
“I love you Gally.” I told him.
He really was right. The more we got done the more the Glade looked and felt like home. The more we got done the more I knew my decision was the right one. The sight of cleaning the place up reminded me of how much I always loved it here. It was always so beautiful and calming here. That’s what home should be right? A place to feel safe and at ease with the ones you love. That is here. That’s the Glade.
