Some gameplay thoughts about the Konomi Haruna Uncap

What´s new:
- Guaranteed Dazzle on connect
- Accele MPUP (All/3 Turns) on Magia.
- MP Regen to self for 3 turns on Doppel (thanks to someone on discord for telling me!)
Let´s first look at her stats. Her attack goes from 4.989 to 6.522. This puts her above Manaka (6,316), Iroha (6,276) and barely Sana (6,520)
In terms of hp and defense she has higher numbers than Hinano and Kako, who in turn have slightly more attack.
Something worth pointing out is that her HP goes from ~17.000 to ~25.000 which is a lot for a low rarity uncap (compared to Chitose Yuma who gained 300 defense upon uncap).
She has decent bulk, provides healing plus defenses and a couple status ailments. This means she could work as a defensive unit/healer on status ailments teams.
Since her attack is still very low she might be best used for magia strategies. Things that work in her favor are:
- Fast Mana Up (she starts the battle with up to 22 mp)
- Her Magia now gives Accele MP Up for all which helps the magia spam going. Once she gets to doppel she will provide herself with MP Regen which will keep her team healthy and tanky.
Let´s make two final comparisons. Kako and Mel.
Kako provides healing similiar to Konomi but forgoes defense up and ailments in exchange for reliably removing status ailments (something Konomi can ´t do). It´s important to keep in mind that her new dazzle on connect might serve as a pseudo damage up if you attck using the strong element.
Mel provides an actual attack up on connect as well as Anti-Evade and Anti-Counter. Two mechanics that don´t really matter on magia teams. Mel tries to apply several status ailments with her magia but since the numbers are so low you´ll only get poison most of the time. This means Konomi´s connect is better at applying ailments than Mel´s Magia. Plus Konomi has two blast discs she could connect to apply ailments to multiple targets easily.
Konomi strikes a mix between Mel and Kako and is probably best used as a reliable way to provide status ailments and sustain for units like Hazuki & Konoha or Swimsuit Mami.
god ok. so. recap of events
last night, tf2 got its first content update in like 7 months. a single new case and some bug fixes, the tf team probably expecting to throw a minor cosmetic update to keep the game at least a little fresh. in doing so, they did something to the drop rates of crates, and inadvertently added a new bug: certain crates now have a 100% chance of dropping unusuals, generally considered the most expensive items in the game. people inevitably figured this out and, well, made the most out of it.
for further context, one of the most exclusive items in the game is the Burning Team Captain, with only around 5 ever having been unboxed before this all went down. since the update dropped last night, 3 more have been unboxed.
so far valve has not said, let alone done, anything about this and nobody has any idea how they’re going to resolve this. it would be a financial and logistical nightmare to roll back all the unboxes and community market purchases, but at the same time if it isn’t reverted it’ll utterly shatter the ingame economy since unusuals are such a large part of it. people have spent years building up inventories full of tens of thousands of dollars worth of unusuals that are becoming near-worthless with every hour. the tf2 subreddit is on total lockdown until valve releases a statement. it’s total chaos and i’m loving it
