Geiseltal fossil reconstructions of Gastornis and Propaleotherium

The finds are quite extraordinary: well preserved leafs, fruits, vertebrates and insects enable a broad view into ancient eco systems. Sadly the excavation site was flooded in 2003 making it the biggest artifical lake in Germany. The stars of Geiseltal: Propaleotherium, ancestor of todays horses, and the terror bird Gastornis.
