I just couldn’t help doing a bigger, better picture of Ben Willbond as The Captain in BBC Ghosts.
The idea behind this was painting him in an art style more suited to his own era, inspired by those vivid & dignified military portraits from the war years.
I love how it turned out!

And this set of portraits just wouldn’t be complete without Kiell Smith-Bynoe as the hapless but hilarious Mike; never entirely sure where the ghosts are or what they’re up to, but bringing us some great comedy moments with his cluelessness!

The assorted eccentric ghosts haunting Button House may do their very best to steal the show, but BBC Ghosts would be nowhere without the wonderfully funny living characters too, so here we have the lovely Alison, played by Charlotte Ritchie.

I’ve reached the final ghost portrait in my BBC Ghostsset - it’s Laurence Rickard again, this time as the unfortunate Headless Humphrey (with a guest appearance by that equally unlucky tatty-feathered pigeon!)

Presenting my portrait of our hopeless romantic from the Regency era - Thomas Thorne, played by Mathew Baynton. He may be prone to bouts of all-consuming lovesickness, and flouncing off in many an over-dramatic huff, but he’s utterly endearing all the same.

I’m not sure what Lady Button would make of her portrait being shown to the public, and on the internet of all places - I’m going to assume it’s another of those very many things a Lady should just not do!

Today’s BBC Ghosts portrait to add to the set : the charming Kitty, brim full of playful humour and childlike naivety, played by Lolly Adefope.

Oldest of the BBC Ghosts by far, Laurence Rickard as Robin the caveman - he’s a wise old soul who surprises us with his profound thoughtful moments, has been devoted to the moon for thousands of years, and loves a good game of chess (with sound-effects!)

Fourth in this little set of BBC Ghosts portraits - here we have everyone’s favourite slightly-sleazy politician of dubious morals (and eternally missing trousers) : Julian Fawcett MP, played Simon Farnaby.

Another BBC Ghosts portrait for you, this time it’s Mary, played to perfection by Katy Wix - she has some of the most uproariously silly and delightful lines in the entire series, I’ll never look at breakfast cereal the same way again!

Second in my set of BBC Ghosts drawings, here’s Jim Howick as the adorable Pat, the scout leader so often the heart of this little group of spirits, winning lots of fan love with his caring nature, cheerful outlook, and relentless enthusiasm.

The brilliant BBC series Ghosts is one of the funniest things on tv for years, but also surprisingly touching; I couldn’t help falling a little bit in love with all these ghost characters.
And I couldn’t resist drawing them, either, starting with my favourite, our dashing Captain, played by Ben Willbond - this one’s for you, Sir! *salutes*
