You Are My Light (Rio x Reader)

Hey, so I’m super excited for this cause I haven’t written for Rio in so long. Enjoy!

Rio was a tough cookie, a man of crime which only meant he was surrounded but those types of people. When he had met Beth back in the day he was intrigued because her life was so different from his, so… Colorless and grim, a life of routines and packed sandwiches. For a while it was fun to shake up her life, until she became like all the others in his cycle, greedy for power and sneaky, now she was “his girl” which meant she was his fall person, gave her the keys and put her name so if anything goes wrong she can be the one to take the blow.

“Alright little man today is mother’s day, you gotta pick the best flowers for mama”

Rio said to his son as they stood in the flower shop, Marcus was going all around the shop, dragging the man that worked there with him so he can point out which flowers he wanted.

“Your son has a great eye for arranging a bouquet”

“He’s a momma’s boy that’s why”

At that the phone rang. The man went to pick it up and it seemed to be important, he covered the phone and yelled a name, then she came out. A girl with hair falling on her face and wearing an apron

“Yes”

“Can you fix the bouquet for the gentleman? I need to take this”

“Umm o-ok”

Rio was interested as soon as he saw her, her soft spoken voice was barely above a whisper as she approached the counter top and clearly tried to avoid eye contact. Her hands were not that steady but she seemed to know what she was doing, rio thought that she was acting like this because she wasn’t comfortable doing it in front of a crowd. As she was finishing up she finally looked up to him but only for a quick second as she bit the inside of her cheek to look back down.

“It’s ummm 30$ s-sir”

Rio smiled at her shy demeanor it felt like a century had passed from the last time he had met somebody so timid, it was mesmerizing to him. He gave her the money and then passed the bouquet to Marcus who seemed super excited for this purchase and the creation he had made

“Excuse me miss, may I ask your name?”

“(Y-y/n)… Sir”

“Call me Rio, I’ll see you around sweetheart”

-

After that Rio came to the flower shop every day to buy a single white Rose and every day (y/n) found one waiting on her cars windshield with a note that always said “you looked beautiful today. To say she was flattered was an understatement, one side of hers was thrilled that such a handsome man was showing interest in her, the other was surprised that a man as confident and as determined as he was had decided to take the time and pursue her in such romantic way. After two weeks of roses he had waited to give her the rose in person along with the proposal of a date.

That’s when he found out she wasn’t comfortable with anyone in general, it wasn’t about his presence that made her shy, she was like that with everyone. After a while he felt the need to be the one to take care of her, protect her in any way, even if that was making an order for her at the restaurant while she scooted closer to him and held the him of his shirt to feel secure.

"I’m going to the bathroom”

“Ok mama”

Rio said as (y/n) left him at the bar, it was Rios birthday so they had gone to a bar to celebrate. She finally had a reason to wear the midi white satin dress Rio had bought her, she had to admit it looked beautiful and she slowly came to the realization that Rio had connected her with the color white. As she reached out her arm to open the bathroom door a man grabbed her arm to stop her

“Hello gorgeous”

She felt like somebody threw cold water at her, she froze on her spot while the man smiled at her in a way she could tell was not just friendly. (Y/n) immediately looked down as she took a step back to get some distance from the man.

“Did I scare you? I’m sorry I just wanted to know who you are”

“I-i”

“She is taken”

Her head shot at the direction her boyfriends voice came. She didn’t even realize that she was walking to him and then proceeded to stand behind him, hiding away from the man that had scared her. She grabbed his shirt and leaned in to him as she tried to stop her legs from shaking.

“I didn’t know she was mute”

“She is not, she just talks to people that respect her personal space”

Rio thankfully had seen the scene go down and in a blink of an eye and out of pure instinct he had shot out of his chair and basically ran to (y/n). The man wasn’t already laying at the ground for disrespecting her because he knew how upset (y/n) would get. She hated any type of fighting and even after dating for so long (y/n) didn’t really know what Rio’s occupation was, he didn’t want her to be scared of him.

“I don’t want no trouble man”

“Yet you tried to put your hands on a woman, see where I’m from that means you are asking for trouble”

Rio stood proudly in front of his woman as he could feel (y/n)s shaky breath on his neck. The man looked uncomfortable and a little bit scared, just how she felt before Rio stepped in. All Rio could think about was how this scene might have played if he wasn’t there and that angered him even more. He might be a man of the night and balls deep into illegal things but he respected two rules “you don’t touch women and you don’t touch children” unless you trynna see God.

“(Y/n) go back to our spot please”

“I-”

“(Y/n)!…. I’m sorry, go and wait for me ok baby?”

He didn’t mean to yell at her, he just wanted to shield her from seeing his ugly side. So he turned around and placed and gentle kiss on the top of her head before (y/n) walked away, as soon as her back was turned and she had made a few steps he pulled the guy into the man’s bathroom and slammed his back against the wall.

“What’s your name?”

“Jason Adams”

“Now you listen here, by an hour I will know every detail about you. If I find out you ain’t keeping your hands to yourself again… You won’t even hear the knock on the door. Got it?”

“Ok”

At that Rio let him go, the guy let out a huff and turned to the sink to splash some water on his face. As Rio turned to leave, (y/n) came to his mind, how scared she was and the sound of her breath as she hid behind him.

“On another thought”

Rio said and grabbed the guys head, with one swift powerful movement his forehead got smashed to the sink, the sound was deafening and after that the guy was unconscious, Rio knew he wasn’t dead so he just fixed his collared shirt and walked out of the bathroom.

(Y/n) was sitting down looking at something on her phone, Rio knew she would pull out her phone went she was alone as a defense machenism to hide from the world. As he approached he gave her a big hug that she very much needed. She felt her muscles relax as she took in his cologne, she closed her eyes to fully let go of her worries and feel safe once again as her man was here. She looked up and smiled at him, feeling the warm sensation of serenity taking over her.

“Thank you”

“Don’t ever thank me for protecting you, I am here for that”

She smiled even brighter as Rio leaned in to give her a gentle, intimate kiss on her painted lips. She was his source of purity in this love, this warm light that showed him what it feels like to surrender to love, to fully know that the person next you could never harm you or anyone else.

“You are my light”

P.S I chose Greece cause I am from there and I never see us anywhere

image

(Y/n) had met Rio when she was about to graduate college, a business major that was striving for being the first millionaire in her family. She came from a lower middle class first generation immigrant from Greece, her parents were troopers for successfully raising her and her siblings, they never had things to spare yet they had enough to be respectful.

He saw her at a restaurant, completely overdressed and accessorized like she was dining in France, however she somehow made it look like she didn’t think about what she was going to wear, like this was her natural way of dressing, her nails were done and he noticed how… soft her hands looked.

What intrigued him was that she was extremely kind to everyone, she smiled brightly at the waiters and she would often reach over to her friends for a touch of encouragement of just a simple caress, she exuded confidence that made you feel like you would never dare to touch her, still she carried herself with elegance and in a graceful manner.

“Excuse me, can you tell me who are the girls at the table over there?”

“Oh they haven’t been here before but I can tell you they are here to celebrate for the girl in the red dress, it’s her birthday”

“Oh is it? Send them a bottle of champagne please”

“Right away Sir”

He was never the flashy type of guy, he never cared for stuff that showed his status or economic achievements, people that had money knew to never flaunt it carelessly. When it came to her, he felt the need to show off, to woo her and catch her eye, she had this sense of luxury, she looked like she took care of herself way too much to let men not treat her anything less than that.

He watched her face switch into surprise when the waiter came with the bottle of champagne, a few seconds after that her gaze went to him, as the waiter pointed towards him and then proceeded to open the bottle of bubbly.

She had noticed him when she entered for a few moments, although she decided that since it was her big night she wouldn’t waste time gawking at good looking men, she had saved money for months to be able to afford the finest for her big day, every year she wanted her birthday to be like the life she wanted. She send him a smile as her hand went to her heart to show gratitude for the gift.

Except that didn’t feel like enough, she felt like she could push it a bit more, try her luck just a bit, she looked too good to worry about a man turning her down, he would have to be mad or blind to do so.

She walked to him with the glass of champagne in her hand, giving him the chance to take her in. Her legs were exposed as the dress went to the middle of her thigs, they shined and looked so smooth making him wonder how good would it feel to touch them. She had a figure of a dream, as her hips swayed with every step, her posture was proud and she walked like a supermodel, if he didn’t know the owner he would have thought she was the one that had not just the restaurant, the entire block.

“I don’t think we’ve met, I’m (y/n), I wanted to thank you for the champagne, you really didn’t have to”

“I wanted to darling, I’m Christopher but people call me Rio, how wonderful to meet you”

He said, taking her delicate hand in his and pressing a light kiss on soft skin. He could smell the lotion of vanilla she had chosen to moisturize her skin, settle yet unforgettable. His raspy voice made her flustered, trying to mask it with a smirk and confidence, he was intriguing to her, the cool, calm and collected exterior that suited him so much.

“I wish I could stay and talk but I don’t like leaving my friends by themselves”

“I understand darling, we’ll be in touch”

-

It had been years since then, he had managed to not only stay in touch with you but make her the queen of his life. She was an asset that he so desperately needed, he trusted her with his life and knew she had the best intentions for him, her loyalty was iron made, her degree came in handy when he needed to handle business in a discreet manner, she was the master mind behind a lot of his negotiations, her brilliance on playing the trophy wife that didn’t know anything in front of others was the secret behind his success.

She is his secret weapon, so secret that no one knew she even existed, the few that did didn’t even know her name and the people that knew were the most trusted ones that worked with Rio for years, she liked to be under wraps, walking in and out of the building with the men Rio had hire to protect her and the rookies wondered who was she, he only called her with pet names when others were around but they could only address her as “Miss”, she was the miss of the mister and his most trusted soldier.

Despite that, (y/n) was no fool. She had broken up with Rio and called of the engagement several times, making Rio go wild every time. She wasn’t unreasonable, Rio was out of line a lot of the times, especially when Beth came in the picture, his men feared her just as much as him, maybe even more, so when she found out they had done such major damage multiple times but still took them back in, she would pack her stuff and leave without warning, leaving her ring and a note that wrote “goodbye” behind. That’s when he would hook up with Beth, make up for the loss of his queen, yet when he had manage to convince her to come back and buy her a new ring every time, he felt like he was on top of the world.

“Be honest with me Mick, who did this to him?”

“Everything points in one target, Beth”

“Of course. Thank you Mick, I got him”

She stood by him throughout his healing process, waited patiently until he was back on her feet, took care of his bullet wounds and had many sleepless nights to make sure he was alright. She was his wife to be after all, even kept in contact with Rhea and Marcus, made sure they were alright and taken care of in any way, shape or form.

“Are you ready mama?”

“Almost, can you help me with the necklace”

They were there when Rhea got the call from Beth, acting like there friends even though she caused Rios life and invited her for drinks. Rio knew (y/n) was boiling, wanted to take revenge for what Beth had caused and this time he understood, so they got dressed up to meet her instead of Rhea.

As Rio approached and took the necklace in his hands he saw it was the necklace he bought her for their one year anniversary, her birth stone surrounded with diamonds. When (y/n) let her hair down he got a whiff of her scent, still making him feel weak in the knees, he got closer to her and wrapped his one arm around her, his lips found the nape of her neck and left light kisses. She closed her eyes for a second to enjoy the feeling of warmth and lust he brought her.

“You look beautiful princess”

“It’s my first time meeting her isn’t it?”

“What have you planned gorgeous?”

“That’s for me to know and for her to find out, let’s go daddy”

She knew exactly who she was. Seeing the back of her head made her want to pull out her gun and blast her right then and there, that wouldn’t be classy now wouldn’t it? She approached the clueless woman and sat on her left side, leaving the right seat empty for Rio to join later.

“Can I get dirty martini please? Thank you dear”

She instructed the bartender before taking off the faux black fur coat to reveal a   Split Floor-Length Sleeveless Spaghetti Strap Pullover black dress. The first thing Beth noticed about the young woman that sat next to her was the big diamond ring that she wore on her ring finger, mentally thinking of what that girl had done to earn it

‘she probably hasn’t worked a day in her life’ she thought, making herself feel a little bit better, she had to admit that she looked really pretty, the jewelry she had on complimented her skin tone and the dress looked like it was custom made. (Y/n) waited for her drink to arrive before she looked at Beth and got ready to reveal her identity.

“You must be Beth, I don’t believe we’ve officially met. I’m (y/n)”

Beth looked at her puzzled. How did the young woman that looked like she was some old mans pretty young thing to show off knew her. (Y/n) was smiling as she took a sip of her cocktail, knowing damn well that Beth had already made up her mind about what type of woman (y/n) was and completely missing the purpose of this meeting.

“How do you know my name”

“Oh I know everything about you, where you live, the names of your children, your sister Annie and your friend Ruby. Rio has told me all about you”

“Rio? How-”

“I know he doesn’t talk about it, I like to be invisible to the public eye… his secret weapon as some would say. I also know you are waiting for Rhea”

“She ain’t comin”

Beth heard Rio’s voice and her eyes went wide with fear. (Y/n) let out a soft giggle and took one more sip of her drink as Beth turned to look at him like she had seen a ghost, judging by how pale she had gotten she was more of that vibe than he was.

“Excuse me, can we get a glass of neat whiskey for the gentleman? Thank you so much”

(Y/n) ordered once more before hoping off her chair and joining Rio. He snaked his arm around her and brought her as close to him as he could before placing a kiss on her cheek.

“How you feeling mama?”

“Oh I was just having a chat with Beth”

“A-are y-you”

“His fiancé? Yes, we are planning on getting married on my homeland during the summer, aren’t we daddy?”

(Y/n) started rubbing Rios back as she smiled at him, she was super excited for her wedding, he had given her complete control to do whatever she wanted, it was her big day and he knew better than to object to anything.

“Oh we have to show her something”

Rio reached for his pocket and (Y/n) looked over at Beth who was in the verge of a mental breakdown. Rio pulled out his three bullets that the doctor had pulled out from his body, (y/n) wanted to throw them away but he insisted in keeping them, reminding him how he cheated death.

“Lung, spline, shoulder”

He put each one down in front of her. Beth had terrible aim and for once (y/n) was thankful that one of their rookies missed the shots. Beth stayed silent, taking in all the information, not only was he alive he also had a woman he was planning to marry, calling him “daddy” right in her face, she looked like she was straight out of a magazine and even thought she was kind to her that terrified her more, her entire life was crumbling in front of her.

“Now I think you understand that you are in a bit of a jam, Christopher has agreed that I should decide your punishment since he wanted to kill you-”

“Don’t, do that. I’m sorry babydoll, she will learn”

Beth had tried to leave in the middle of (y/n)’s sentence, making Rio grab Beth by the arm and restrain her from doing so. (Y/n) stayed stoic and just watched the scene unravel, she knew Rio would never allow anyone to disrespect her. As Beth sat back down Rio smiled (y/n) before taking her hand once more and placing a kiss on her knuckles. (Y/n) reached for his face and caressed his cheek with her free hand making Beth sick to her stomach, he had never looked at her like that, with such admiration and love.

“It’s alright, I will let it pass this one time”

“Go on mama”

“I feel like it would be too easy to kill you, such an easy way out. So now you will work for me”

“What?”

Beth felt her stomach twist at the statement. Working with (y/n), having to do daily tasks for her, a woman she had no idea even existed an hour ago, now she had work under her and take orders from her directly, for a second she thought that death would be better. (Y/n) left Rio’s side for a second and took Beth by the shoulders, standing right behind her, Beth’s eyes fell on her shinny ring, that only felt like someone was rubbing salt over her wound, he had probably spend a fortune for it. (Y/n) leaned closer to Beth getting next to her ear and causing goosebumps on Beth’s body.

“Think of it as an assistant or maybe help Rio with anything he needs but mostly you will be on call for anything I need. Since you wanted to outsmart Rio and spit where you eat, I need some help to plan the wedding and also take care of our business. What do you think darling?”

“I think it’s an excellent idea”

Rio was pleasantly surprised. (Y/n) was one of the most intelligent people he knew, bring Beth so close to her and making her work for their wedding even though she knew she had slept with him was a very cruel and mentally humiliating way to punish her.

She truly was one of the greatest choices he had ever done, no one could compete with her, she held such power that made Rio feel like he could not only trust her but also submit to her, let her take the wheel and not having to worry about anything going wrong. As he watched her look over at Beth there was no comparison, (y/n) had such way of carrying herself, that je ne sais quoi as some would say, she was the embodiment of female divine energy.

Rio knew that her leaving him all these times was a game of push and pull, making him work for her and a mental slap in the face, yet every time he ran to her like an obedient dog and begged for her to come back and take her spot as his queen in the palace, promised her and gave her everything she wished for, every ring was bigger and better than the one before. It wasn’t like he did it because she wanted it, he was the one that wanted to spoil her, give her everything under the sun, she deserved everything and he was for sure not going to hold back for his sweet little princess.

“And then when all of that is done… Rio can take care of you, I feel like it would bring bad luck to our household if we killed someone before the wedding”

                                    NORMAL  MASTERLIST

“Trust me, ma”, Rio brushed of some of the ash falling from the roof to his button up. Beth fiddled nervously with her hands. She wasn’t a woman of nervosity, but she had a lot of questions. “I don’t know about this”, she couldn’t meet his eyes, didn’t want him to see through her like he regularly did. He snorted, and she felt the floor vibrate when he moved across the room. “So now youre unsure about the rotten egg? Didnt yall kidnap a guy and keep him in a treehouse for sum time?”, Rio´s voice was closer now, she could feel his hot breath against her shoulder. She kept still “that wasn’t the same thing, w-we wasn’t emotionally manipulating him!”. Rio let something out similar to a mocking chuckle “so the threatening to leave him for dead before robbing his grandma wasnt that, well damn ma sound like you a saint now and all that”. He lifted his finger slowly to her face to move the strand of hair dangling. She let him. “So what’s the plan”, she mumbled  as she stood up. She tried her best to ignore the guilt forming a lump in her stomach. He kept her eyes locked with his as he lowered his hand. Back to business. “We’re just going to play a little with her, mama, das it”.

The second the bag got dragged of my head i pulled a sharp inhale. The strong industrial lights making me blink for a good second before finally adjusting. The dust hovering looked like stars in the strong light. The lump of tears was already threatening in the back of my throat. I was to scream, but my throat was so tight i could swear it was backed up with dust. “You good mami?”, the voice startled me but i was already too frozen in my seat to move. The man who sat down in front of me looked me up and down. I had never seen him in my entire life but his aura was enough for me to keep my mouth shut. He had danger radiating from him, everything from the neck tattoo to the side smirk he gave me. He was not to mess with. Nervously i moved in my seat, ignoring the burn of the rope against my skin.

“So”, he mumbled leaning forward “what you’ve been doing with the money you stole from me?”. He must have seen the surprise written all over my face because the smirk across his face grew. “Did you buy a new car? Maybe a new necklace”, he leaned forward “i know the shopping spree suburian mommy shit was good cash, so tell me”. It finally clicked, the secret shopping. Just a small “hobby” like i said to my daughter. It was the only thing keeping the roof over my head. Since the small secretary job didn’t exactly pay the rents.

“I-i”, i started as i swallowed the lump in my throat “I bought drugs”.

His smile faltered but only for a second. His reaction finally made me realize what i said as i was quick to rephrase myself “i mean medication, not drug drugs”.

He licked his lower lip and i followed the action “You bought medication huh, with my money”. He spit out his words like they burnt his tongue. The sudden outburst made me lean as far away as the ropes would let me. My heart was pounding so loud i couldn’t register his next words. When he noticed my focus shifting he banged down his fist down the table hard. The sudden vibration of the table made me sob out something from the back of my throat. “W-what”, i mumbled, my voice breaking in tears. I did not have time for this. “So you thought you could just  come out here, gimme back unwashed money and then go back to your basic bitch life?”, He had collected himself from the earlier outburst but his tone was still threatening

“I didn’t know it was yours!”, I yelled, surprised at how loud my voice was “let me go! let me go”. I started to move harshly in the bounds, my eyes focused on his the entire time. It was like if i was testing him. He stood up so fast the chair slammed against the ground. “Stop playing with me mama”, his voice came out so soft and controlled it surprised me enough to stop moving. He moved forward, positioning himself on top of the table. I could feel his heat radiating towards me. i kept myself on the edge of the chair, as far away from him as possible, as i in quiet waited for his next move. “Breathe”, i wasn’t even aware i stopped breathing until his kind words filled my ears. He planted his hands over my cheeks lifting my head. “I’m sorry i didn’t mean to yell at you”, his finger swiped across my cheek catching a tear. I Couldn’t even control myself as i leaned into his touch. I was too tired.

The warmth of his palm, the harsch push of his fingertips. It was intoxicating. I realized to late i was cuddling a dangerous mans hand. Without even giving it a second thought i bit down into the warm skin. He let out a howl as he dragged himself away from the sensation. He immediately put the fresh wound to his mouth, calming the pounding pain. Whatever i thought he would do next was definitely not to leave. But I could have sworn i saw him blind me a smile before slamming the door.

It felt like days but my better judgement knew it had only gone a few hours. Four or five maybe. But the heat was getting ot me. Burning my skin until it itched in the rope. I needed water in the next hour or so, otherwise i was almost certain i would pass out. As if reading my mind the door opened. I peaked up when i realized the steps were lighter. They didn’t sound slumped at all and i knew the familiar click of pumps against hardwood floor. The woman who stood in the doorway was tall. Her golden strawberry locks fell down her beautifully sculpted face. I knew that face from anywhere. Beth, queen of motherhood. Queen of secret shopping. It was like if every word she´d  uttered to me was suddenly false, every smile and hand on my shoulder.  It was her fault, i realized, that i was in this mess. I wanted to yell at her, spit and throw punches, but i was smarter than that. I could see the glass of water in her hand and the sandwich in the other. I needed that. More than i needed the satisfaction to speak my mind. So i kept my mouth shut, but couldn’t hold back the hot glare i shot at her. She seemed to notice it but didn’t pay it much mind.

“Hey y/n”, here voice was genuine but i noticed the layer swept over it. Guilt? empathy? nonono, it was lies. A pile of big fat lies. She thought she could manipulate me like that.

“Hey”, i bit back the “bitch” rolling of my tongue when i felt the sweet oh so sweet smell of PBJ she had slothered over the thin piece of bread. She placed the plate down in front of me “dig in”. I looked up at here in disbelief as i moved my arms ro remind her i was stuck. She shot me a blinding smile and nodded for herself before slipping out of the room.

I felt my nostrils flaring of anger. I wanted to murder her. I wanted to put my hands around her pretty little throat and push against those white pearls. Instead i bent down  picking up the bread. If she only knew how good i was at eating without hands. The party trick had started in pancaking eating contest in high school and involved in my mother years from hurried mornings with my baby on one arm and her stroller on the other. Oh god my baby. I couldn’t think of her, not for a second. Instead i bent my head backwards, balancing the bread before i started to chew. I didn’t even know i was starving until my taste bud had an orgasm of the sweet of so sweet and salty taste. I groaned, working my mouth over it. The embarrassment didn’t bother me, i knew it was probably a double sided window and that they could see me but if there was anything i was confident about it was my eating without hands skill. The food was gone in a matter of second and greedly i tipped the glass a little to the side so i could lift it with my teeth and chug from it. The cold embraced my throat, cleaned it from dust. I would never underappreciate water ever again. I saved some, figuring that it would go to waste slurping it all down too fast.

In an instant i was bored, moving restlessly in the tight rope. I needed to get out. I figured they brought me here to kill me? no then they would have done it already. Maybe push me for information. Or maybe they wanted to scare me. The only way to get away from here was to play along. Or even better, to play against them but making them think i was a lamb to the slaughter. As if i didn’t have a few cards up my sleeve.

When Beth walked in her eyes fell down on Rio wrapping his palm with a bandage. She didn’t bother to ask, it wasn’t like he would tell her anything anyway. But what really caught her attention was the glimpse in his eyes. It was like a kid on christmas morning, like if he just got a brand new toy to dig his hands into. Maybe he did. Beth looked him up and down “how much longer?”. He finally meet her eyes, as if he hadn’t even noticed her presence. She did not like that. “What mama? growing bored already”, he moved across the room with the slenderness of a cougar “we’re just getting started, enjoy yourself”. His eyes moved across the glass watching his new toy. She had her head bent backwards with the sandwich planted on her face as she ate. He chuckled for himself, feeling something he couldnt put his finger on. Excitement? He had felt it the second she bit down into his palm. She had some fervor, he just had to move the ash to find it. He had felt it with Beth the first time they meet as well but she quickly started to ask too many questions. It got under his skin. As on cue Elizabeth opened her mouth “How long?”. He sighed, rubbing his eyebrow annoyed. He considered ignoring her but knew she wouldn’t let it go so instead he poured himself a glass of bourbon. “Does it matter?”, he mumbled as he swiped his tongue over the edge of the glass to catch a drop. “Yes”, she exclaimed and he didn’t have to look at her to know she had her hands raised to her hair with her eyes blown out. He swiped the entire glass in an instant, enjoying the burn it left. “I don’t know mama”, he never let his eyes wander away from the girl behind the glass “when i’m done playing”.
