It had been forecast to rain when John and Edward hit the Guilfest stage on the afternoon of Saturday 19 July.  Instead, it was one of the hottest and stickiest days of the summer so far, when the Dublin twins played to hundreds at what has been voted UK’s best family music festival.

Crowds raced over from the main stage to stage 2 to hear the twins perform, and they weren’t disappointed.  Jedward hit the ground running, singing a mix of their own songs and covers, including Free Spirit, which they have written and produced themselves.

Free Spirit is the first from the twins’ as-yet unnamed album, due to be released later this summer.  To promote the album, John and Edward have announced concert dates in Ireland, starting with Dublin on October 24, and Castlebar on the 27th.  Tickets for Dublin’s Olympia Theatre gig will be available on Friday 25 July from Ticketmaster.

It was announced by the Royal Theatre Castlebar in a series of mysterious tweets late yesterday afternoon that Jedward will be appearing on October 27, to promote their forthcoming album, due out in September.

The twins will be one of the headlining acts at this weekend’s Guilfest, performing on Saturday afternoon from 2.45 at the Good Time Guide Stage.  Tickets are still available, but be quick!

Their latest song, Free Spirit, was released on May 17.  Check out the gorgeous video here, shot in the Wicklow Mountains, Ireland, and in Rome:

John and Edward have been in the news a lot these past few weeks. Two weeks ago they launched the music video for their hot new single, “Free Spirit”.  The video, like most of their music videos over the past two years, was made and edited by the twins themselves, and has met with critical acclaim from all over the world.  Shot in Ireland and Italy, the video complements the song perfectly, using fresh and free scenery…and not to mention smouldering looks from the twins themselves!

Prior to their video launch, the twins had been making headlines for all the wrong reasons, having had a close shave at Malahide Beach, County Dublin, where they had been stranded by rising tides.  The Skerries Coast Guard rescued the twins, who had been on a beach walk with their young cousin.  John and Edward visited the Skerries heroes late last week for a reunion with those who had quite literally, it emerges, saved their lives.

The twins presented two awards at Dublin radio station 98fm’s “Best of Dublin” Awards, giving out two prizes - “Best Barber/Hairdresser”, which went to Pose and Pout, of Blanchardstown, and “Best Restaurant”, going to Roast, in Ballsbridge

On Saturday however, they shall be a headlining act at this year’s Guilfest, in Guildford, Surrey, UK.  Jedward fans are flying in from all over to catch the performance of the Duo, their first live gig since their smash performance at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre, back in April.

Tickets are still available for Guilfest.  Free Spirit is available on iTunes.
