So with I was thinking, with the D&D set coming next, technically our fanwalkers can’t participate like they normally do since Forgotten Realms won’t be canonically part of Mtg.

How about instead we have our fanwalkers play a nice game of D&D?

(Or other tabletop rpg?)

What kind of character and class does your fanwalker play? What kind of player are they?

Don’t want to be a player? What does their monster manual entry look like?

Not a fan of D&D? What other games would they play the MtG version of?

It’s been a long while since a prompt has gone around the community, I thought this would be a nice melding of interests (plus posting it now would give people time to plan).

Being the BBEG sort of villain that he is, Voren Stoneroot doesn’t exactly play nicely with others. So, I made an epic level monster entry for him, with some lovely art to compliment it by @hazoret!

For those unfamiliar, Voren is a treefolk scientist, driven mad millenia ago when the eldrazi destroyed his home world of Alorn and caused his spark to ignite. Since that time he has spent his every waking hour trying to rebuild his home from memory. When the Mending hit he lost most of his powers like any other walker at the time, so his methods have only gotten more brutal: terraforming other planes, splicing and grafting living specimens together to create the “correct” creatures. All in the pursuit of a perfect recreation of the past.

Still working on the character sheets for my fanwalkers, but here’s Halona’s monster manual entry. For those who haven’t met Halona, she a fun loving little jokester who is a bit more resistant to magic than most. I think this captures her antimagic nature better than “hexproof” has, although I’m still a bit… iffy on the balance (I’m up in the air on her Mana Leak reaction). That being said, I think she’d make a fun CR14 “boss” monster.

Homeplane:Balatog

First Planeswalk: Dominaria

Color Identity: RUG

Her FULL BIO is here, but as a short synopsis:

Adventurous, spunky, and a bit of a mischievous streak, Halona is tackling the multiverse one adventure at a time. An explorer and sailor on her homeplane, Halona spark was ignited when a her latent spark and a fateful meeting with an aether storm caused her to briefly glimpse the Blind Eternities and filled her with the immense need to travel the vastness of the multiverse. Friendly to most and a prankster to many, Halona is open to most other planeswalkers although she keeps cagey with details on her homeplane, Balatog, which is kept hidden and shielded from the multiverse through a great web of magic and spells.

While not a particularly skilled mage in the traditional sense, Halona’s magic being very focused on herself has given her two great strengths. One, she is a skilled auramancer with a flair for umbra/totem armor focused spells. Second and probably much stronger, Halona has a broad and strong anti-magic aura. From walking through magic traps, to blocking dragonfire, to challenging powerful spellcasters, Halona uses her magic for both adventures and fun.

What Halona’s been up to since the last time I created content:

- While she hasn’t been avoiding Ravnica, Halona’s been staying more on the down low while on the plane. Data collected from the Izzet/Project Lightning Bug revealed to others that she was able to pass through the Immortal Sun’s magic with ease (like she had done on her adventures to Ixalan before). Had the Gatewatch and friends asked, she might have been much more forthcoming, but the sudden attention from them hasn’t been as pleasurable as she would have hoped it’d be.

-Halona met Nahiri. She did not make a good impression.

- Halona has found Ikoria to be a wonderful challenge. The human population and rugged world has been a nice change of pace for her and trying to make new umbras from the planes weird and changing animals has been an exciting adventure.

- Despite not being a student at Strixhaven, Halona has found the time to pop onto Arcavios and explore. Students and teachers alike she has found particular pleasure in messing with since upstart and powerful mages are easy marks for someone who can brush off all their spells.
