Australia’s Slim Dusty (1927-2003) had a career that lasted half a century. He was well-known in the 1950s for his hit song “The pub with no beer”. In 2000, he released his hundredth album, and in that year sang “Waltzing Matilda” in the closing ceremony of the 2000 Summer Olympics. New Zealand’s impressively virtuosic Hamilton County Bluegrass Band sprang to fame in the 1960s. They toured for two years with Slim Dusty at the end of that decade.
