35) whilst he didn’t get a number 1 with the single, he did get a number 1 in the official charts. albeit with his Live at the Royal Albert Hall DVD in Nov 2010 ;)

33) again, early years and trying to make some cash he did adverts, including being a Frog Prince advertising Irn Bru (made in scotland from girders).
this was off tape it’s that old, so it’s a bit fuzzy.

32) In 2014, he got a good gig with (starting and) singing in the opening ceremony of 2014 Commonwealth Games which took place in Glasgow (JB’s home town), it was good fun. check it out Youtube if you ain’t seen it! ;o)

29) In 2011 he was made a honorary Doctor of Drama by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD), which is good since he was studying a drama degree when he had his big break in show business in 1989 and never got around to finishing it!

28) JB has appeared at the National Theatre twice to give talks about his autobiographies. I attended the second one and it was good fun. :)

27) JB was chuffed to bits in 2012 to be part of the Thames Pageant to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. JB presented for BBC1 from the Belfry Barge, which was at the front of the flotilla.

25) in 2006, this lucky, lucky man and his husband got invited to CERN!! [i wanna go!!]
he got shown around the LHC and the other particle accelerators they got there.

24) he’s hosted children’s show, Animals At Work for 3 series (starting in 2008), both as himself and posing as several characters including Dr Bumbleman and Dr John Brainyman ;)

21) in December 2006 he civil partnered his long term partner Scott Gill and had an exclusive in OK! magazine :)

20) he had his big break into showbusiness in 1989 when he starred opposite Elaine Paige in Anything Goes! a role he reprised in 2002. :-)
he sings on the cast recording too, which is splendid. :op

19) he’s had a few bit parts in various other movies too…
pic 1: including his movie debut in The Untouchables in 1987, there he is with his back to the screen in a grey tracksuit ;)
pic 2: he had a singing part with the song Night and Day in the Cole Porter biopic,De-Lovely, in 2004
pic 3: played a reporter in Method(retitledDead Even in the UK) (also 2004), which was a crap movie if ever there was one. his character met a gruesome end (which I didn’t include a pic of as I know it upsets some fans seeing him all proper dead acting.)
pic 4: another singing part beckoned in 2005 when he was the lead stormtrooper in The Producers.

18) starting in 2009, JB hosted his own primetime Saturday night BBC1 entertainment show, Tonight’s The Night. which had a lovely 3 year run :)
[pic 3] he had many guises to surprise people who had been nominated to give them something good.
[pic 4] there were many varied surprises from singing on the show with their favourite artiste (where possible) or something more daring (zip lining pensioners and on one occasion an 80yr old barnstorming!!)
[pic 5] I still choke up when I see this pic, this gentleman was so moved to be able to sing along with his favourite singer Matt Munro (even though Munro had passed away in 1985).

17) another thing he’s done which i’m chuffed to bits about is have action figures made of the characters he’s played, and he’s one of the few people to have action figures in 3 different shows. Doctor Who,TorchwoodandArrow.

15) he’s a charitable man :o). always a good thing :D
he supports 10 charities and his fans usually have a fundraiser going (for one of his charities) as an opening night gift when he’s on a tour/doing a musical. (and usually collects donations from the audiences at his tours/panto’s too)

[bottom pic] he supports Ty Hafan Childrens Hospital, which helps terminally ill children and their families.

14) he’s done 3 UK wide tours, kicking off in 2010. I been to them all, he’s awesome. :o).

50) In 2014, he was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his services to Light Entertainment and to Charity.
