Creator’s Notes: I wrote this fic in a kind of haze, no plot to speak of and little but soft idiots talking about death and darkness. Don’t worry, it’s not as cold as it sounds, but it’s also not what I set out to write, not really. I got lost somewhere, forging a path far away from structure and story archs. It fits quite well, in the end, I think.

I have several people to thank for making this fic possible: my incredible beta-reader, who read this in record time and who’s feedback gave me the final push not to throw this fic on the ‘failed experiments’ pile; my friend, who patiently listened to vague freak-outs and complaints in increasing frequency as the deadline loomed closer; and the mods for organising this brilliant fest and for their patience.
