I felt like there could be a good story or some sort of inside joke there, so I thought up this fic. By request from a few people in the tag list, there are some references to a previous fic Performance Review.
“Okay, now what about this one?” Lexi twirls around to show off the new clothes she just bought.
“Yeah, looks great,” Jax murmurs, not even bothering to look up from the papers on the desk. Lexi had turned Lily’s bedroom into office after she moved to the Shadow Den. It had been nice for her and Jax to be able to spend more time together instead of being at their respective offices all the time, but sometimes it felt like Jax worked even more than he would otherwise.

this person came to self check out and had two trans flag pins on their hat and they were holding like five different kinds of sushi platters and struggling and then they looked at the machine and then at me and stared at my trans necklace for two seconds and then walked pass me and into the main hall and i just assumed they went to get a cart but then like 20 minutes passed and they never came back . they saw my necklace and was like yeah this guy won’t tattle , massive respect to whoever that was i love you

Wow Tris the editing you put into this makes this scene so much more watchable! Taking away the gaudy Green Bay Packers colors helps draw the eye to the character and the slight edits you made in sound design make this feel like a different movie all together, who would have guessed using a different part of the same song works? Plus that transition to the next scene? Excellent!
ok actually I reblogged this without comment before because it’s funny, but ACTUALLY I think that Fëanor is at heart totally a descriptivist—the evolution of language is what make it such an interesting field of study! as part of a broader philosophy, if we don’t accept change, how can science and invention progress! BUT he’s so emotionally invested in the Þerinde issue specifically that he made up a bunch of strident logical arguments to support it, which applied to language in general because of course he had to take a consistent stance, and the more [angry cat noises] things got with the children of Indis, the more his pride and reputation were invested in those arguments, and…
So now he’s convinced even himself that he’s a staunch prescriptivist, even though deep, DEEP down he knows it’s bullshit, and even deeper down if you said, “listen, this is bullshit, language evolves, so let’s bargain: there can be one (1) firm linguistic rule until the Remaking of the World, and it is that ‘Þerinde’ and other specifically fibercraft-related words with that root are pronounced with the Þ, and otherwise whatever happens, happens. You’re allowed to glare pointedly at people who get this one rule wrong, and comment snarkily if you want to be kind of a dick, but ONLY for this word group. Deal?” Fëanor would accept in a heartbeat. (Deep down.)
