Hakuoki Drama - Hijikata Biyori Track 27 - Cool Breeze

Translation by KumoriYami

Hijikata: That’s a nice breeze.

Souji: Excuse me~ (opens door)

Hijikata: What is it, Souji. Don’t suddenly barge into someone’s room.

Souji: Didn’t I say “excuse me”?

Hijikata: You had already slid open the door then.

Souji: This sort of trivial thing doesn’t matter. You shouldn’t be worrying about such a useless thing.

Hijikata: What are you saying.

Souji: Ha~ what a nice breeze. Heiyo. (sits down)

Hijikata: Then why did you come here? Did you have something to say to me?

Souji: No, nothing.

HIjikata: Then get out. I’m busy.

Souji: I’m not going to bother you. Please continue.

Hijikata: Really. What are you planning on doing? Even if you stay over there, it’ll get hot.

Souji; Really [check audio. yeah that’s the correct tl though], Hijikata-san, you don’t get it at all.

HIjikata: What?

Hijikata: Hijikata-san’s room is the best ventilated location at headquarters?

Hijikata: Huh?

Souji: It’s true.  And everyone is obviously being tormented by this heat.

Hijikata:…Is that so?

Souji: That’s right. Hijikata-san is the only one inside headquarters who looks refreshed [actual tl is more “has a cool/refreshed face”]

Hijikata: Then how do you know my room is the best ventilated?

Soiuji: That… was just something I happened to find out. Since then, I’ve been indebted to it.

Hijikata: Indebted to it… have you been going in and out of my room without my permission?

Souji: I just quietly sat in a corner. Isn’t there nothing to worry about?

Hijikata:  That’s not the problem. Arbitrarily entering some else’s room…

Souji: Hijikata-san, it’s not good to monopolize.

Hijikata: Ha?

Souji: Good things need to be shared. Well, Hijikata-san has always monopolized good and bad things.

Hijikata:….

Souji: It should be okay once in a while. Share some of the good stuff with us.

Hijikata: Ha… I’m busy. Go sit down in that corner by yourself and cool down.

Souji: Yes~.

HIjikata: Hey, about this room, if there’s anyone else…

Souji: I haven’t said anything. Even I hope to enjoy the coolness here quietly [reword later?]

Hijikata: hahahaha….  What, you don’t want to monopolize this to yourself too?

Souji: haha, well, that’s how it is.

Hijikata: Ha~ that’s really a nice breeze.

Hakuoki Drama - Hijikata Biyori Track 10 - Road Sign/Sign Post

Translation by KumoriYami

Kondou: Ah, look, Toshi. These are the streets of Kyoto. It’s indeed worthy of the being the place where the Emperor lives [actual tl is “Son of Heavens” but i don’t feel like searching if thats what the Japanese referred to their Emperor as]

Hijikata: Ah, yes, Kondou-san.

Kondou: You should look too, Sanan-san. Kyoto is truly beautiful/majestic [check audio].

Sanan: Yes, I saw it. It truly is special.

Kondou: Yes, indeed. I’m really glad I came here /to Kyoto [check audio]. It really deserves to be at the Emperor’s feet/under the foot of the Emperor [yeah thats the right tl].

Hijikata: Realy, we didn’t come to visit today. Don’t speak so recklessly, Kondou-san.

Kondou: Uh, that’s true. But――

Sanan: Isn’t that good, Hijikata-kun [check audio for punctuation pacing]?

Hijikata: Ah?

Sanan: It’s only been a few days since we came from Edo, and its’ important to understand the situation in Kyoto.

HIjikata: Nn… is that so? But, since Sanan-san is saying that… Indeed, we’re don’t know this place.

Kondou: That’s right, Toshi. As I recall, there seems to be a famous temple nearby. We need to go and pay our respects!

Hijikata: It can’t be helped, we’ll accompany you.

山南:我们去吧。
Sanan: Let’s go.

(人声喧嚷)
(sound of people talking)

Kondou: Oh――Kyoto is truly full of temples. The next one is over there!

Hijikata: Hey, no… Kondou-san! How many of these are you going to go to!

Kondou: Well, it would be nice if we could visit every place we see. Besides, Toshi, weren’t you admiring the Buddha statue(s) just now?

Hijikata: That’s because the carving was wonderful… that’s not what I mean!

Sanan: Isn’t this fine? It is also good to go to a shrine and pray to the gods and Buddha for our future.

Kondou: Look, Sanan-kun is saying that too. Next, next!

Hijikata: Nn… it really is magnificent.

Kondou: It feels that just by look at these, we’ve become more benevolent.

(later on in the day)

Kondou: It’s late, we should return to/The sun is setting, so it’s almost time to return to Mibu-dera [a Buddhist temple in Kyoto. source wikipedia by way of jisho since i had access to a jp tl for this biyori. also check for ‘temple’ in audio]. By the way…

HIjikata; Nn?

Kondou: That is… which way did we come from?

Hijikata; Eh?! Then, Kondou-san, you don’t know?

Kondou: Ah… Toshi, are you the same/you know――

Hijikata: I thought you knew where you were going…

Kondou: Ah… is that so… Well, this is bad.

Sanan: It’s fine.

Hijikata: Oh, Sanan-san.

Sanan: I know the way back.

Kondou: Really? Ahahaha… that’s great, that’s great.

Sanan: Kyoto’s roads are arranged like a grid on a chessboard/squares on a grid [check audio], so as long as the direction is correct, there won’t be any problems. Look, the sun is setting in the west over there, and our way back is this way.

Kondou: Ooh――

Sanan: Let’s go. It would be best to return before sunset.

Kondou: Ya――Sanan-kun is indeed a reliable person.

Sanan: it’s not a big deal.

Hijikata: Ah, that’s not the case/there’s no such thing. Sanan-san/You’re not only good at kenjutsu, but you’re also well-educated. For Kondou-san, there is no other way to describe you but as a reliable existence [the cn tl i have is more 'the word best used to describe you is “reliable”’ so i changed it a bit].

Sanan: That would be HIjikata-kun. Hijikata-kun has been with Kondou-san for a long time. Ah, Kondou-san.

Kondou: What is it?

Sanan: It’s not that road, rather the one on the other side. Don’t head down that one.

Kondou; Eh? Ah, haha… right, sorry.

Hijikata: Kondou-san, let Sanan-san take the lead.

Kondou:  Oh, yes! We won’t get lost that way.

Sanan: Is that so. Then, let’s do that ten.

Kondou: Oh, that’s reassuring. Toshi, follow along.

Hijikata: I don’t want to be told that by you.

Sanan: Haha… Alright, let’s head back. Everyone is waiting.

This is my last post of the month, so I’ll end by asking you to please support me if you can through my ko-fi, and paypalorpatreonwhich provides access to my hakuoki blog translations and early access to my postings. Also, please let me know if you have any hakuoki drama cds that you’d be willing to share that are on my Lookout List since i either do not have audio for those cds or do not have audio that I can share…

I think i mentioned this at least one other time, but i don’t like posting things unless im at least sure of my translation by a certain percentage… and this time’s translation barely meets that criteria. reason being is that i had two tls for this… and parts of them vastly differed from one another (way more than usual. normally, for the biyoris, i get 2 sentences that almost convey the same thing). well, i’ll review the audio to see if i go ahead with subtitling this later.

Hakuoki Drama - Hijikata Biyori Track 16 - Sigh

Translation by KumoriYami

Hijikata: -sigh-

Harada: Nn? What’s the matter with you? Hijikata-san.

Hijikata: Ah, Harada, it’s you. What’s wrong with me?

Harada: Ah? You just sighed. It’s rare [reword later?].

Hijikata: Really? No, it’s nothing. (walks away)

Harada:What’s the mater? You looks strange.

…..

Shinpachi: -sigh-

Harada: What’s going on? Even Shinpachi is―

Shinpachi: Sano, what’s wrong?

Harada: What’s wrong, what’s wrong? Just don’t sigh, okay!

Shinpachi: Sigh? Ah… that. Did I sigh just now?

Harada: What’s wrong exactly?

Shinpachi: It’s nothing. Then, see you later (walks away)

Harada: What the hell.

-later-

Hijikata/Shinpachi: -sigh-

Harada: Um… you…

Hijikata: What is it? Harada.

Shinpachi: Nn? Sano, what’s wrong?

Harada: What’s wrong! Why have the two of you have been sighing earlier now talking non-stop! Ah, I can’t it, I’m so bored!

Hijikata: Ah, well, it’s because there were various matters.

Shinpachi: I also had various matters.

Harada: Really! Ah, I get it. If you have anything to say, just tell me, and as long as I can do it, I’ll definitely help.

Hijikata: Ah, Harada…

Shinpachi: Sano, you…

Harada: Alright, go head! Whatever it is, just let it out!

Hijikata: Even if you say that…

Shinpachi: It’s a bit…

Harada:…Huh?

Hijikata; Right. However, it’s shameful for me to have caused Harada to worry. Alright! Cheer up!

Shinpachi: Ooh! Me too! If Sano is worried, I don’t deserved to be called Nagakura Shinpachi [something like that? idk]! Cheer up!

Hijikata: Yeah. A bitter expression really doesn’t suit Shinpachi.

Shinpachi: That’s right, Hijikata-san. And it wouldn’t look good to hate the Demon Vice-Commander look dejected either.

Hijikata: Yeah, that’s right.

Shinpachi: Ok! Let’s go out for drinks.

Hijikata: I’ll head out with you later.

Shinpachi: Oh! I haven’t gone drinking with Hijikata-san for a long time.

Hijikata: Yeah. Hahaha…

Shinpachi: Hahaha…

Harada:…Ha? What about my…. situation?

-end-

of all the Hijikata Biyoris… I believe that this is the only one that could have hypothetically taken place after the Shinsengumi left Kyoto.

as always, my translation may not be 100% accurate as I did not translate from Japanese.

i couldn’t find a clean version of this graphic so i used the one provided from one of the official hakuoki blogs T_T.

used the same image for these two since they’re related… and because i didn’t want to edit something together or look through Otogisoushi for a graphic (also I find it annoying how I don’t know of any other official art with justSaito and Hijikata that isn’t from the anime/movie or an anime promo graphic).

anyway, as always, my translation may not be 100% as I do not translate from Japanese… though i managed one sentence this time that was missing in the tl i used.

Track 13

Track 14

ugh i had a hassle writing out this note. my “W” key isn’t working that well.

Hakuoki Drama - Hijikata Biyori Track 23 - The Vice-Commander’s Orders

Translation by KumoriYami

Hijikata: I’m really sorry, Saito. On a day you’re not working, I’ve asked you to help me deal with this boring work.

Saito: No, it’s not a big deal.

Hijikata: Today both Kondou-san and Sanan-san have gone out, and you were the only one I could ask.

Saito: It’s my pleasure, Vice-Commander. If I can help, then there’s no problem. Please let me know in the future.

Hijikata: Haha, I know, I know. Although I’m glad you think that way, you should relax once in a while.

Saito: That doesn’t matter to me [check audio]/I’m fine.

HIjikat: Well, I thought you say that. Right, you should go somewhere and have fun today. In any case, Heisuke and Sano have also gone out. Why don’t you go with them?

Saito: Is that… an order?

Hijikata: Not really. Just a suggestion.

Saito: Is that so. Although I’m not on duty today, it doesn’t seem good to wander aimlessly around during the day…

Hijikata: It’s not bad for you to occasionally fool around.

Saito: Hm… is that so?…No, but….

Hijikata: Hey, Saito! Kondou-san and Sanan-san aren’t at headquarters, and won’t be returning to headquarters as long as they have something to do [check audio for headquarters. have it twice in the tl]. No one’s going to say anything/nag, so don’t worry.

Saito: Then speaking of which, Souji also went out…

Hijikata: Haha, that’s right. Somehow that demon isn’t here/snuck out [check audio. one tl says ‘demon vice-commander’ here]. Saito, you should go too.

Saito:…No, if that’s the case, I can’t go.

Hijiikata: Is there still something else?

Saito: That person would be left at headquarters by themself/That person… would be alone.

Hijikata:Ah… that’s right.

Saito: Although she’s inside headquarters, it is difficult to say that nothing will happen while she’s alone.

Hijikata: Yeah, that’s true. Then I’ll head back. So you can go and take it easy.

Saito: The Vice-Commander should have something to do after this…

Hijikata: Don’t worry. It’s not important.

Saito: That isn’t the case/You can’t say that. To me, it is not appropriate for the Vice-Commander to change his plans for my sake.

Hijikata: That’s wrong. It’s just something I decided myself. I just remembered that I had some work that needs doing and was going to head back to finish it.

Saito: If that’s the case, it’s even more inappropriate for me to go. I’ll go back and watch that person, while the Vice-Commander can go focus on your work.

Hijikata: Geez. That part of you is so troublesome.

Saito: I’m sorry.

Hijikata: Don’t apologize. Alright, I know. Saito, go and join Heisuke and the others. That’s an order.

Saito: That’s an order?

Hijikata: It is.

Saito: As you say. If that’s an order, I will obey it. I’m sorry.

Hijikata: Oh, don’t worry.

Saito:…Vice-Commander.

Hijikata: What?

Saito: No, it’s nothing. Then I will ask you to look after that guy please.

Hijikata: No problem. Leave that to me.

Saito: Thank you. Then I’ll be going.

(Saito leaves)

Hijikata: Really, worry a bit about yourself first. Always worrying about that guy… Does Saito… hahaha, no way.

-end-

i don’t care im using a graphic that has chizuru in it for this one when i get to the subtitled video.

every now and then… i think about going through all my image posts and tagging them with the characters properly so that things are easier to find…. then i think of how much of a hassle that’d be and shut that idea down lol.

anyway, enjoy!

Hakuoki Drama - Hijikata Biyori Track 24 One person and one thing

Translation by KumoriYami

Hijikata: I can’t believe you’re really here. For you to suddenly call me out, which way is the wind blowing?

Kazama: It’s rare for me do such a thing, but for an uncultured and depraved samurai to immediately draw their sword at me, regardless of how stupid you are, shouldn’t you know that a teahouse in an inappropriate place for you to draw your sword?

Hijikata: What!?

Kazama: Don’t be so angry. Are you not even able to enjoy tea?

Hijikata:….Hey, get me some tea!

Kazama/Hijikata: Hey! [spoken at the same time]

Kazama:….What?

Hijikata: What do you mean what! You’re the one who called me out, so hurry up and get to the point.

Kazama: Why did you come alone?

Hijikata; You were the one who told me to come alone.

Kazama: I didn’t tell you to come alone. I just told the messenger to only notify you.

Hijikata: Isn’t that the same!

Kazama: Hm, I admit that it was courageous of you to meet me alone.

HIjikata: You’re the same, daring to come by yourself even though I could have brought my companions with me.

Kazama: It wouldn’t matter how many people you gathered. I alone would be enough.

Hijikata: I’ll throw the same words back to you.

Kazama: (For a mere human to say such a thing, it’s hard not to laugh.)

Hijikata: Did you say something?

Kazama: Anyway, what’s that girl doing?

Hijikata: That girl? Ah, she has nothing to do with you! Quit pestering her!

Kazama: Pester… is it. She was originally mine. I should have said that before.

Hijikata: It’s unfortunate if you were planning on aiming for that guy while you called me out. I’ve made sure that she’s sufficiently protected.

Kazama: Oh~ how impressive. But if I wanted to take her, I would do that myself.

Hijikata:…Then what are you doing! Why did you call me out!

Kazama: I see. It appears that the role of guard dog has been effectively fulfilled.

Hijikata: Hey! Hurry up and get to the point! I’m busy too!

Kazama: Then it’s fine if we’re done.

Hijikata: Ah? What are you saying! Ha… it’s really is impossible to talk with you.

Kazama: Are you leaving?

Hijikata; Look at the sky.

Kazama: Nn?

Hijikata: It’s going to rain soon.

Kazama: So it is. It seems like neither you nor I can relax in such a place.

Hijikata: Ha?

Kazama: I don’t know what you believe in today will still exist tomorrow. I wonder if what you are clinging onto will survive the next time we meet.

Hijikata; Hmph, shut up. No matter what happens, there’s only one thing that I believe in.

(Hijikata leaves)

Kazama: As I am leaving Kyoto soon, I wanted to see how those fellows were doing, and it seems that they were more or less useful. For the time being, I will leave her to you. Furthermore, as a human being, how are you able to say such interesting things? Let me see what you believe in.
