#hikes with dogs

Little bit of nature inspiration for the week! Besides the woods, I spent a lot of this weekend BBQing with friends and giving artwork out. I’ve got a few more commissions to work on, plus a few more of my own ideas to put on paper. Pretty pumped to keep on keepin’ on.

Another weekend of great hiking weather! The dogs and I hit the trails of Watchung, Harriman, and Hacklebarney this time around.

Summer is on its way, and the woods really are alive. I saw more deer this weekend than any of the previous weekends combined. While hiking at Harriman, the forest floor started to move and hop. What I first thought were tiny crickets, were actually fingernail-sized toads. I also saw snakes, newts, and plenty of birds.

All in all, a great weekend for adventuring. I’m definitely planning to paint some of the critters we encountered this week. My used copies of Walden and Into the Wild are in, so expect some new stuff to hit the shop soon!
