Sometimes the beauty of life is right in front of you. Sitting on a train on a cold morning in December. Still tired from the week before. It’s early; sun rising with such splendour in the east. I’m always been in awe of the raw simplicity and wonderment of nature.
How I even managed to get this picture, I’m not even sure. There’s no filters as it doesn’t need any. I have never been a morning person always a night owl. Yet I do appreciate early mornings now. Sunrise especially the time before dawn is magical. So much promise for a new day. Winter mornings, wrapped up against the cold. I’ve become much more grateful for being here at this time. The promise of right now and the anticipation of tomorrow is where I live. Wishing everyone a bright future and Seasons Greetings/ Solstice and Happy Hogmanay! ☆☆☆☆

I’m excited to share that we’ve decided to keep ‘Ellesmere Cottage’ open all year, for skiing and cosy winter breaks. Situated in the Cairngorm National Park, we are surrounded by beautiful scenery and just a short walk away from the famous Glenlivet Distillery.

From the 1st December our wee holiday let cottage will be decorated for Christmas, and will remain open for the whole of the festive period, including Hogmanay.

A warm welcome awaits … ⛷☃️

Before you know it, the new year will be here and I don’t think I’m alone in wanting to say “smell ya later” to 2016.

Here’s a fun one for EasyJet Traveller for an article about Scotland’s growing craft Gin scene. I played on the idea of the Hogmanay and “first footing” - where visitors traditionally bring their friends and neighbours a “wee dram” of whiskey after midnight on New Year. May be hard pushed to convince a Scot to swap Whiskey for Gin to see in the new year…have both!?
