There are many depictions of lion hunts in art history but this one really shows off the ferocity of the creature. In many other depictions the lions are completely overwhelmed and killed while this one shows a man de-horsed and fighting for his life. This particular piece evokes an Arabian feel to me because of the camels and the dress that the figures are clothed in. It inspires me to be able to evoke certain cultural feelings and characteristics with subtle cues such as this.
