#Haiti Relief Efforts: @LUnionSuite /Haitian American Haiti Relief Efforts
When global catastrophes and natural disasters strike it’s always so telling who we rally for and who we leave to fend for themselves without so much as an overlay option on social media. Every tribute and call to action related to a country in Africa or the Caribbean I have ever had, I had to make myself using some kind of photo blend app. As a nation that boasts diversity, democracy and community we should be ashamed, especially when we have our hands in the affairs of so many countries full of people of color that are doing horribly economically and we offer no assistance but continually interfere or make matters worse by the supporting corruption for our personal gain. These are the moments I shake my head as the silence from the #AllLivesMatter crowd becomes deafening. Over 800 people dead and I’ve only seen coverage of #HurricaneMatthew ’s deadly toll on #Haiti on the internet while news outlets focus on flooding and property damage in the states. My heart goes out to the families of the 19 lives lost in the Carolinas but surely 842 families in Haiti deserve national attention as well. We have to do better for ourselves and each other. #PanAfricanism is the movement. We all we got. I really wish we understood that. #PrayForHaiti
