I think something that contributes to Bakudeku’s popularity is how Bakugou is a walking trigger to a repressed, ‘dark’ side to Izuku that people tend to not suspect because of his typical sweet, gentle demeanor.  It starts with cute, innocent things like Deku calling Bakugou 'Kacchan’, being far less formal with him than other people, or how he imitates Bakugou’s rude speech in the heat of the moment.  But then you get Compress sensing possessive feelings in how Deku talks about Bakugou, Monoma just shit-talking Bakugou making him activate a new quirk, or how he goes berserk when AFO hurts Bakugou, almost resembling a demon or an angry animal.

Someone threatening Bakugou consistently tends to unleash Deku’s 'inner monster’, his id, his basic, primal self (while over time, the relationship revealed a vulnerable, human side to Bakugou). To a lot of viewers, there’s something oddly satisfying about a seemingly too-good-to-be-true person having a real, serious chink in their emotional armor.
